Goldfinger - "Superman" (Quarantine Video) Buy Goldfinger Merch: goldfingeroffi... Everything Else Goldfinger: goldfingermusic... Mixed by Jon Graber Video Editing by David Lackey
1996: I'm 23, buys and loves Goldfinger's first CD. 2020 Staying home from my job, going broke, but loving everything they post online. Life is fucked up.
Already got a Job and now's the time to buy everything as I can what I longed for back when I was 8 years old while listening to Superman. Getting older, Feeling younger Vibes.
These guys are so freaking underrated. Like a lot of millennials, my first time listening to these guys was from Tony Hawk’s pro skater. Ask any millennial who either listens to rock or not, if they played this video game, this was their favorite song. This band has aged so well. Their most recent album is incredible
@Master Shake as someone who would happily be a millennial if I could have chosen my own birthdate, started doing tour production (guitar/bass tech, then production management, then tour management/tour accounting) during the third wave ska era (which resulted in me seeing *way* too many ska/ska punk bands with dumb puns using "ska" in their names) and still work in the same field, i just have to respond with "whaaaa?" - most ska isn't my thing (the artists I'm about to list are exceptions), but if you think... for example, Desmond Dekker sounds like the Specials, and both sound like Operation Ivy... you may need a hearing exam. 😃
@@ashleyrichardson7493 I tell you what, you run along and write a banging hit song in your 20s, then try and make it sound exactly the same 24 years later when you're in your 50s. Once you do that, you can pass snide judgement. Get in the fucking sea.
I'm so glad to see you playing like teenage, guys. This is like an elixir of life for these distant times. Thank you! Punk is life! From Rio de Janeiro!
Never gets old. Brings back my college days. Sooooo nostalgic!!! One of the songs that made me who I am today. THANK YOU GOLDFINGER! STILL GOLDFINGER Rocks! Keep safe guys! Your fan from Philippines.
2000 age 12: Playing THPS and listening to this song. 2020 age 31: 4 days away from the THPS 1+2 collection wishing I didn't have to work tomorrow listening to this song.
@@DickiesBeerReviews you can download psx emulator called epsxe and find the iso game file for THPS in Google (keyword for Google search : Tony Hawk's Pro Skater iso for psx)
25 years, and I still can't hear this song without hearing the progressively faster beeps starting at 1:50 signaling the end of your run in the warehouse
Young Sachi for whatever reason I just pictured both of you guys, I assume you’re guys, in an empty warehouse, skating around lost, yelling about tapes.
I'm noticing that with a lot lately... a lot of punk/ska is hitting in a much harder, darker light given the current state of the world. So if nothing else, thank you corporate overlords for helping me fall in love with the music I grew up with all over again.
The truth of life. This song is all about experiencing The adolescents that we were heading into and then reflecting on the adolescence we had been through. Sometimes all the we can do is just sit and watch time go but if I have to say goodbye life's too short to watch it fly...
Only the singer has a studio from what I can see... the others are just in their jam room, the bass player has a whole wall full of antique cameras in the shot lol.
I imagine the re-licensing of the music would've already been discussed so it's not much of a stretch to suggest it was a sneaky way to build nostalgia for the franchise making the unveil hit harder. And tbh that's a fucking genius marketing move.
34 here o/ And I couldn't love this song anymore I think because of the lyrics ^_^ A good quote for you to remember is; If you carry your childhood with you, you'll never grow old. So don't become old adult farts. Be fun old people willing to joke and play and laugh.
I first listen to this song few years ago while playing the n64, tony hawk pro skater without speaking a word of english or understanding this kind of music, but once i did, i loved it. Music is really a universe language and transcend time and language barriers. Now here i am, looking older all the time, feeling younger in my mind.
When this song came out I didn’t speak any English nor understood the lyrics and I loved the song. Now I just rediscovered it again and I understand every single word. I can’t stop listening to this song. Thank you thank you
Na gravação original eu prefiro a Spokesman, mas atualmente eles estão interpretando melhor essa aí, talvez porque tocaram ela em mais shows ao longo dos anos.
I remember that last day before school started we would dedicate the whole day to skating, from morning afternoon to night...I was far from good but I cherished just the freedom, skating different spots, and just being kids...good times
My childhood friend died of cancer at 17 and him and i used to play THPS for hours and hours, and we also used to skateboard together. I'll be 34 in June and every time i hear this song it reminds me of him and puts a smile on my face.
that's right man! be happy that it happened. that you had one of the best childhood with your friend. and that you gave him one awesome childhood too. I hope it doesn't offend you or sound that I'm saying to not mourn your friend. I'm pretty sure that's what he wanted for you to be happy. I mean if I die I don't want my mourners to be sad. If I leave them crying I might as well not have any friends.
I'll be honest, I wasn't looking for this. Someone was talking about there being a new Tony Hawk game and that naturally gives me the desire to hear Superman by Goldfinger. This was a nice surprise.
I just read that in another comment, that's the first time I hear about that. I'm so excited. Back in the day my brother got me into the first game on the playstation. These days I'm the one who's to get his little bro into some awesome videogames.
Tough not to get the eyes tearing, after so many years, since childhood, rocking out to this song, and then all the memories come back and you feel like being there again... "Here I am, growing older all the time, looking older all the time, feeling younger in my mind" never made so much sense. Thank you Goldfinger!!!
Damn dude, feel the exact same thing and welled up reading your comment. Amazing how songs like this can transport you to another time, another life, another "you". I'm happy now, really happy. Amazing wife, incredible son, but I still get emotional thinking about 20 years ago. I don't know why really. My wife doesn't have those nostalgic feelings about high school and I know alot of people don't. For me, it's hard not to happy cry thinking about the mid 90s and how life felt then. Part of me wishes I could go back..... Even for just a day.
@@DiegoRuiz1991 There were some Easter eggs you could get in certain games doing that, too. And not to mention it was the whole gimmick behind Monster Rancher, one of my favorite PSX series.
"So... what's your instrument?" Drums "And you?" Brass "And what about that guy?" He has.... *Playstation 1 with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 and an Analog TV*
@MusicMoviesGames I was tearing this game up with combos left, right and centre. How the passage of time is cruel, I'm lucky if I can string a high combo score
I heard someone try to explain Ska punk to someone and they said "It's what goes through a teenagers mind when they find out there are more mozzarella sticks" Ive never heard anything more accurate haha
2006: sitting home playing thps 1 with my brother, listening to goldfinger 2021: sitting home playing thps 1+2 with my niece, listening to goldfinger This song, after all these years, still holds a special place in my heart; i just melt away to another world when i hear it. I know a huge part of that was from the memories with my brother, and i hope that my niece can have these same feelings with the memories we’ve made together
How on earth I have been missing this band my entire life, it's got everything I could ever want to, rock, air instruments, a shirtless man, suited men, and dogs!!
Chad Muska broke every bone in his body performing a trick where he bounced an entire pizza between his legs like a basketball. He received a VHS copy of Land Before Time 2 for his efforts.
1999 : i was 14,, playing THPS in my playstation while listening this song 2020 : i was 35 and still listening this song as my moodbooster in my office .. "so here i am growing older all the time .. looking older all the time .. feeling younger in my mind"
"So here I am, growing older all the time, Looking older all the time, Feeling younger in my mind..." Now that I'm 34 years old, I can relate to this lyrics. The memories from when I was in junior high played the THPS game in my PSX while this song playing on the background. A very precious memory.
There was a little place downtown called Virtual Megaplex for a bit. Little rooms with a couch, surround sound and every console and game imaginable. My buddy Kevin and I would go down there almost daily. We’d win money occasionally in THPS tourneys. There was a sign over the toilet that said, “if you sprinkle when you tinkle, please be neat and wipe the seat.” The things that stick with you sometimes...
So here I am Doing everything I can Holding on to what I am Pretending I'm a superman I'm trying to keep The ground on my feet It seems the world's falling down around me The nights are all long Yeah, I'm singing this song To try and make the answers more than maybe And I'm so confused about what to do Sometimes I wanna throw it all away So here I am Growing older all the time Looking older all the time Feeling younger in my mind So here I am Doing everything I can Holding on to what I am Pretending I'm a superman I'm trying to sleep I lost count of sheep My mind is racing faster every minute But could I do more? Yeah, I'm really not sure I know I'm running circles but I can't quit And I'm so confused about what to do Sometimes I wanna throw it all away Controlling everything in sight Feeling weak, I don't feel right You're telling me I have to change Telling me to act my age What if all that I can do Is just sit and watch time go Then I'll have to say goodbye Life's too short to watch it fly To watch it fly So here I am Growing older all the time Looking older all the time Feeling younger in my mind So here I am Doing everything I can Holding on to what I am Pretending I'm a superman Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Man I am enjoying these video they are posting taking me back to when I was a kid funny thing is I came to watch the Here in Your Bedroom quarantine video and saw this one was just posted
this made me literally CRYING. My adolescence is gone forever. I used to listen to this playing THPS on playstation. Now I'm 40 and I understood the text more than ever.
SAMEEEE!!!! 37 TURNING 38 NOV 1ST!!! Back then i listened to this song on my cd player everyday! Brings so much back from the past. They still sound the same!
2000 was 20 years ago my bros... What a crazy thing. I remember in the mid 90s, when our parents would talk about the 70s. I remember feeling like that was SOOO long ago. Certainly seemed like longer ago than 2000 seems to me now. Le sigh.
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 Remastered coming September 4th for Xbox, Playstation, and PC! Goldfinger will be on the soundtrack too! WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE!
