Turns out all fish like chironomids. Just cast near grass or structure for best results. I found when they were moving in schools is when they were the least hungry.

Haha thanks bro! When I went to target them I was prepared to throw corn on a bait holder hook and was so happy I didn’t have to resort to that. It was mighty weird not putting them back on purpose though where I mostly C&R. They will probably poison this lake sadly to get them out.

I just picked up some dragontail PVC floating line for fishing dry flies. What are your thoughts on it, and when you might find it useful over other types of line? Big thumbs up on your videos! 👍🏻

Awh thanks friend! So this is the first time I have used the PVC line and I think it’s gonna be the first thing I try anytime I’m fishing stillwater and then level line if they’re spooked easy or it’s crystal clear water. I think any application/scenario that can use level line should use that as a priority but the PVC is eons better than furled line. It’s a 10/10 for Skiddy. 😎

I plan to float tube it very soon. I’ve only had a few really good brook trout days up there. The rainbow trout ratio is much higher. Would you like to see it on a western rod or a tenkara rod?

I should start including that in my videos. If you google ice cream cone chironomid that is what I used. It’s basically a zebra midge with a white head. The white resembles bubbles when they emerge! This is pretty much the most common stillwater fly because most lakes have them. Also Goldfish have small mouths so I went moderately small fly. Size 16-18 was perfect to stand out in the murkiness of Maple Lake.

Where is this lake? Looks like fun! Caught a few sculpin on tenkara. And the smallest coho salmon I’ve ever seen! 4”?

Wow 4” salmon? I bet that was crazy haha. This is Maple Lake Utah. I would love to catch a sculpin. Though I assume an average size is 4” too?

@@skiddyfishing not much of a fight from the litttle silver, the sculpin were in the 6” range. My pb sculpin was a 13” staghorn! (Saltwater species of course and not a tenkara catch but still fun!)
