The ridiculous amounts of cameos in this movie shows how huge Austin Powers was by this point.

Mike Myers was at his absolute peak at this point. It was astonish how quickly his stardom left him him after his his next two live action starring roles, Cat in the Hat and one of the most racially offensive and unfunny films of the 21st century, The Love Guru. Afterward, his ony major starring role was Shrek.

28 Grammy Awards. 40 major motion picture scores. Quincy Jones's 1962 tune "Soul Bossa Nova", which originated on the Big Band Bossa Nova album, was used as the theme for the 1997 spy comedy Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. Also, Jones produced the The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Quincy Jones produced the Michael Jackson album, Thriller, which sold 65 million copies and became the highest-selling album of all time. An amazing person, he survived two brain surgeries which saved his life in the 1970s and he's still kicking at 91. Thanks, Ashleigh! 🪙 Yes, that was really a young Michael Caine. That clip isn't from it, but he looked like that when he was in HURRY SUNDOWN (1967), in which my mother had a cameo... in the courtroom scene.

My favorite thing about that opening bit is the most-obscure thing about it. George Clinton perfectly aped the style of John Barry's scores for the Connery Bond films everywhere else in this trilogy, _except_ in the opening bit with Tom Cruise here. There, he switched to a pitch-perfect imitation of David Arnold's scores for the Pierce Brosnan Bond films (IE, the “current” Bond films when “Goldmember” came out). It's subtle-as-hell, and absolutely perfect, and I adore it.

No, look at what happened with Bill & Ted 3 and Dumb & Dumber 2. I'm already dreading Beetlejuice 2, I say leave Austin Powers as is, each film was better than the last and it went out on a massive high. Also the Pentaverati got panned by critics so Mike has likely lost his touch/mojo.

Fun fact about the Britney Spears: During promotion for Goldmember, Beyonce Knowles revealed that Britney requested the role of a Fembot. According to Beyonce, "She (Britney) said she desperately wanted to be in the movie and wanted to wear a bra that shot bullets. We managed to accommodate her requests". I think her favorite character is Mini-Me. That's why she did a second appearance in the End Credits sharing a scene with him.
