This video was a gamechanger, and likely saved me from a serious back injury. I had been trying to “stay on the wall” with a lot of side bend and pushing my hips back, but it was causing a lot,of back pain and soreness. This new setup has relieved my back pain and made my contact much more consistent. Thank you!
Sooo needed this! I was struggling to keep my butt/hips back but always had that early extension. Didn’t realize how getting that proper setup was the key. Thank you! Now off to practice this :)
I can’t believe how well this is working lol. It totally makes sense though. It definitely takes some getting used to the feel because it feels like I’m standing right on top of the ball and I’m crowding it but I can feel that I am creating space during the swing. I was always taught to set up with a lot of space between the butt of the club and my body as well as have a straight back posture. Mind blown 🤯
Wow! I watched a video on RU-vid years ago. That’s the reason I put my hip WAY back there at setup. After watching this, it’s so obvious to me why I early extend. I’m a good player, but early extension haunts me. Thanks so much!
Great video Eric. This has literally confused me forever. I’m always told I am standing too upright yet I fight early extension. Your explanation of rounding the back and using the wall gives me a much better visual. Thanks again.
So cool. Last night I was videoing my swing and saw basically the same thing. I was rising up in the down swing. I thought it was the set up and here you are today working on just that. Thanks you!
Love it Mark....yes....if lifting up through impact start with the setup FIRST If thats good next you want to look at swing plane....if you are too over plane (steep) coming down that would be next reason for body to lift up to shallow And as always making sure club face is not open :)
Eric, awesome instruction. I never realized I had my weight so far back in my stance until I watched this video, then looked in a full length mirror at setup.
I been needing a video like this. I’ve been trying to stop early extension or standing up through impact. I never realized it was my set up. I love the wall drill and can’t wait to start practicing it.. love your videos and how easy they are to follow. Look forward to more. How would someone be able to do an in person lesson?
Hey Eric! I'll probably be opening up more in-person spots this weekend in Bethlehem, PA. Please keep an eye out on my Instagram for the lesson scheduler link!
I turned 70 years old this year, and my goal is to shoot my age from the men’s tees at my course. Up til now, I have been shooting from 76-86, extremely inconsistent. Eric’s videos are making a difference. Early extension has been my biggest nemesis. After working on his drills on early extension, I am gaining on my goal. Yesterday I shot 77, and had three topped shots. Today I shot 72 (1 over par), and no topped shots. The drills work!
Thanks, Jacob. I see hips too far back a lot at setup with all of our online lessons.....most (me included) just never knew it and can't figure out why their hips kick in on downswing :)
Would like to see the swing change resurlts. Must be so much better. First move from the top, he should feel like he's slamming his left heel hard down into the ground - fixes alot of issues.
100% like it More details on that here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uW8vBNO7gR8.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OTQUWxZpTao.html
Eric your videos are outstanding but I think the cause of early extension is the left shoulder on the transition coming up high and then puts the golfer unbalanced where shanks and right to left shots come . To me the 2 moves I think about only is the left shoulder going down not down and in but down and coming in with the right wrist bent , the dynamic loft will immediately change with piercing shots . So in closing your right hand gadget should help a golfer immensely and with the left shoulder going down it’s a wrap .
Thats for sure part of it, John. Agreed. Maintaining some of the left side bend at top as you add rotation. BUt....... If you setup with hips too far back and weight on heels......you have no where to go but forward to counterbalance....I see that 99/100 from there. Want to START with the setup.....THEN you can do the lead shoulder part
@@CogornoGolf agree it’s balance from the start so back on your heels or leaning towards your toes effects the balance right off the start so true but I think coming in at 4:30 too but since I concentrate on the left should down and the right wrist bent beautiful baby draws as a 16 inch softball player from Chicago hitting up for line drives in softball caused me problems for years with fat shots , to high of iron shots with no power softly going right etc etc … but great videos as always and last and the most important of these times Pray the Rosary everyday to Our Lady look up the 15 promises a predestination to heaven .
