I have been playing about 65 years, and have been a decent golfer. I am currently scratch and found your philosophy with the left hand grip extremely intriguing. I have had a weak grip all my life but still my miss has been a hook. I incorporated your left hand grip and amazing things happened. I felt square at impact with a downward pressure of my left palm, and had an immediate feeling that I would hit it straight. I also can hit it much harder knowing that the clubhead will be square at impact. I feel a sense of total control of the clubhead that I have not experienced before. Thanks for all you do. God Bless

Thank you so much for your extremely kind words and more importantly, sharing your experiences with me and the others seeing this video and comments. Means the world to me to help golfers find even more in their game at whatever level they play at and for however long they’ve been playing. God bless you Sir.

I had four birdies on my last round of golf two days ago and a lot of that I contribute to your explanations on the physics of golf. My takeaway has improved by pushing down on the handle at the start and it reminds me to keep my left shoulder down and not pull my arm across my chest. Hitting the ball closer to the flag- much thanks.

Enjoyed this video, Stuart. What I took away from it was that we should not focus so much on grip pressure because once we have the correct orientation of our hands on the club (different for every golfer) and are comfortable with said orientation our grip pressure will naturally adjust itself because of the comfort level we have holding the club. This will allow us to swing faster at a more comfortable level, and thus allow the natural sequence and timing to take over. Cheers.

I thank you for your videos you have given me a new outlook on my golf. My problem was the clubface at impact and used a round of golf to fix it, remembering some of your videos suddenly things come together and hit a 5 iron over the water to 6inches for a birdie. Keep the content coming as you bring a fresh outlook on golf.Regards Roger.

Hi Thomas - unfortunately it’s still far too easy to get wrong and with something as influential as the grip, more detail than wringing out a towel is not precise enough. Best wishes Stu 😊

I’d like you to talk about the importance of grip size and also choking down just a bit to make sure you can pin Club against pad of top hand
@GoodGolfCoaching
@GoodGolfCoaching Год назад
Thanks for the request Ned; the grip size in my opinion should only be relevant to the size of the glove hand, it has very little purpose in trying to quieten hand action or encouraging more hand action. Hope that helps!

Every time a see another video I’m getting the jigsaw slowly . Can’t wait to try this light pressure at the top and at impact 👍. One question Stu. On the downswing transition do you feel it’s more armsy after the initial pull down or more of a rotation and less arm feel before impact ?
@GoodGolfCoaching
@GoodGolfCoaching 10 месяцев назад
Hey Paul - learning in layers crucial, as long as there is a process of building that vision and continuity with the message, this game is truly easy to master and at the worst, not lose golf balls and get angry! I would say there is more "activity" with the handle in transition than you'd feel with the leg action. Being busy with your feet wont feel the same as being busy with your handle. Hope that makes sense. Best wishes Stu 😊

I'm a new subscriber and have gone through the whole grip series but not able to find where you talk about proper trail hand (right for me) position. I understand and agree with using a strong grip but what do you consider an appropriate strong grip for the trail hand?

Hi, new to your channel and going through your YT videos. Love the details on grip pressure, the broom videos, etc. Looked at your grip series part 1 and 2 you refer to in some of your videos. Really feel my best ball striking is when the pad of the left hand pushes down and the fingers of the right pull up. However, I have inconsistent results and trying to get my grip proper in order to trust it more of how I orientate my hands and fingers on the handle. I just switched over to a neutral grip which I consider is best for hinging of the wrists. Can you put together a detailed grip video that covers how you place each hand on the handle, and recommended pressure points of the hand and fingers, etc? I have arthritis in my hands which adds to my challenge. Thanks!!

@@GoodGolfCoaching Wonderful and thanks for the message!! Really enjoying your content as I take a deeper dive, your golf swing approach, drills and so forth! Really looking forward to seeing your channel content continue to grow also! Your viewpoints on what you see other respected YT instructors are saying is refreshing, even if it goes against what they are trying to teach. But at the end of the day, all anyone that plays this crazy game is just trying to develop a repeatable swing that they can have confidence in and enjoy the beautiful game. Will definitely be sharing your channel with my golfer friends🙂

Hey Stuart, this is one I struggle with the most - I’m not overcoming the intrinsic instinct to grip harder in order to take action - do you have any drills or advice on this? Dunc
@GoodGolfCoaching
@GoodGolfCoaching 7 месяцев назад
The grip hard is in an effort to over power another motion compromising the face Dunc. Whatever bend you fight most would be the best place to look on correcting first, rather than the grip pressure being the cause of other issues. Hope that makes sense. Best wishes Stu 😊

@DuncanBuck-n2k 7 месяцев назад
Ah, that makes sense! I’ve spent so long with a shut clubface trying to fight the right side of the fairway I’ve not yet got to the point of trusting I can soften and release my grip (for my old fear of going out of bounds left!)

Morning Stuart. Interesting video (as always). Be interested in your thoughts on coaches who teach ‘taking the hands out of the swing’ ie more rotational swing?
@GoodGolfCoaching
@GoodGolfCoaching Год назад
The alleged “rotational swing” is simply a buzz phrase to lure people into believing it’s the answer to making the face have less rotation and take the arms out the swing. It’s nonsense, always will and always has been. The golf swing has been driven as a lateral move for years, sure, the forces through the feet now deliver more rotation but the club face and forearms rotate, they may do it it less, but you absolutely have the have the hands and arms involved. Don’t fall for a “more rotational” swing phraseology, it’s meaningless imho. Hope that helps in some way and I absolutely WILL do a video on this myth. Best wishes Stu 😊
@iloveturtle315
@iloveturtle315 Год назад
Thank you!! My thoughts exactly. Be interested in a video in covering ball whilst acknowledging the need for arm rotation given most mortals can’t physically get into the position by trying pure rotational method
@GoodGolfCoaching
@GoodGolfCoaching Год назад
Equally don’t be lured to the fact physicality is a limiting factor; unless significant, strength is the biggest divide delivering distance rather than movement. HTH.

Grip pressure- lots of current information on good players and especially tour quality men have much stronger hands and pressure on grip in comparison to average men. So a pro light pressure is probably much stronger than a average guy death grip..?
@GoodGolfCoaching
@GoodGolfCoaching 11 месяцев назад
Only stronger pressure because they are stronger Jack; would still feel light to them in my opinion. Hope that helps Sir

What about grip pressure In Different parts of the hands? Squeezing the last 2 fingers against the pad of the left hand will be different to squeezing the forefinger and thumb….no? Also different pressure in the left and right hands….. clearly l am over thinking this but maybe if you do remake the grip series it could be explored there?…… nice one though Stu
@GoodGolfCoaching
@GoodGolfCoaching Год назад
Andy, all relevant questions, but I believe if you adhere to the advise in this video and the grip itself the other inputs will be less important. I will remake a few of the grip series videos and a bit more on this topic will be included. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and questions!
