I miss my lessons with Charlie! I would love to have another. I got to have this man as my swing coach all through high school in early 90s. The rhymes were everything!!! They have stuck in my head all these years! He is by far the most hands on, simple coach there is. He made most his implements himself and has a cool trick shot show! Miss you Charlie!
Think of a door & your swing will not be a bore, and you can score; irregardless of whatever. Actually, a very good swing aid without having to haul a 7 foot door around; just imagine that it is there; irregardless of it not being there. It will help some (like me).
Mr. Sorrell. This lesson is the best ever made. Quick, easy...keep it simple golf. These basic ideas on the swing and striking are the most simple and masterful tips one could receive. Thank you for your insights sir.
This guy knows his stuff.but PLANE CHANGES WITH LENTH OF CLUB. The golf swing can not be STANDARDISED. HANDS WILL ALWAYS BE FURTHER AWAY FROM THIGHS AT ADDRESS WITH DRIVER THAN WEDGE SO, THIS CHAP IS SPOT ON CORRECT.BUT YOU AIN'T AN IRON BYRON. GREAT POST.
John Clark Remember he referenced the plain to the trailing elbow and forearm. As the clubs get longer your posture becomes more upright. Thus, the height of the elbow (from the ground) and angle of the forearm changes to match the length of club. The angle of the door would need to be adjusted to match the geometry of the golfer and the selected club. Once you get the feel with one club you should be able to use the feel with all your clubs.
Same concept. Look at Inbee Park - she really picks it up steeper. Downswing though is more shallow, less 'steep', and on that second plane flattened out.
Only plane that really counts is the shaft plane which was illustrated here in this video by the door. You can leave that plane on the way up to the top of the backswing but all great players return to that plane on the way down. Hogan's purpose for the pane of glass was to get people to stop coming over the top . Stay under the pane of glass coming down and you won't shatter the glass. Hogan knew very well that the club needed to be on the shaft plane at impact not on the shoulder plane but probably thought that was TOO technical to go into
The door to success is great, it has helped me hit more fairways and strike the ball generally much more consistent because my only swing thought is swing back up the door and swing down the door with lag. Simple and effective, do this and then practice your short game watch your handicap fall.
Excellent Video, extremely helpful in understanding plane, also that ball helped me understand the results of my golf shots and therefore how I can make corrections! Thanks
He did not do a good job of explaining that. The door should be at the shaft angle of the club you are using. So it is NOT at the same angle for every club.
