My COMPEQ arrived today... I don't know what to say. I bought this machine on feeling, from what I heard on the videos here. So I turned the knobs, randomly... I should listen more often to my intuitions. This machine is pretty amazing. Everything becomes clearer more balanced, the music breathes. This is my feeling after two hours of use. It's a good job ! Cheer ! PS. There had been a misunderstanding between the Belgian importer and my supplier in France, everything was back to normal.
This is brilliant! Wow, I never thought of something like this. Does this use a shelving filter or a a band splitter? Only reason I ask is because I'm curious how this effects the phase. Edit: Just read one of the comments, it's a dynamic shelf. Fantastic!
A nice sounding demo with a pleasant drum sound is quite rare, thank you. However, I still don't find this explanation sufficient, I would like to hear an explanation of how the unit functions in the time domain. From what I am hearing in the demo, it is able to boost and/or cut a certain frequency range and with the dynamics controls you are essentially sending a positive and negative envelope to two bands? The attack time is the amount of time it takes to reach the level of compression and /or cross compression set?
I am a really small manufacturer, so the only reason I do have resellers is, so you can get a unit and try whereever you are. I would recommend you do that! The attack time on the compression band dictates the attack time on the crosscompression, so the answer is "and"
Cool video, I just picked up Goly porter grinder, and the big knobs on it made me overlook the cross comp eq. Is the cross compeq intended for mastering? I am still missing a mastering comp so wondering if this complements the porter grinder or would i be double dipping on the eq side?? Thank you
Thanks ...and thank you for picking up a PG. I hope youre enjoying it!? I wouldnt consider it double dipping at all. The CompEQ is definitely a dynamic device.
@@GOLY_DK Thank you for your reply, I did notice afterwards it was a dynamic eq and comp which is perfect, I will pick it up tomorrow, which will also look good with PG. yet I had a question about the Goly dynamic shelving eq, is that unit discontinued? I only see it on reverb. would the cross comp provide high shelving- Bax style as the dynamic shelving one ? Thank you
Its not a multiband compressor - a multiband compressor splits the signal path into multiple frequency bands, which have to be combined again, resulting in undesired artifacts. This is a dynamic EQ concept. Ive really done all I can to explain it at this point, so either, get your hands on one, or maybe just consider if it just doesnt resonate with you in context to something you would actually find useful!? Not everything is for everyone, nothing wrong with that :)
