Gone Surfing in the 1956 Chevy Wagon 

That was a well-equipped wagon for ‘56! The year I was born…

Danny knocked it out the park with patina matching the old paint.

Duke is a great looking survivor. It's awesome to see it being kept used for what it was meant to be and not just a garage trophy!

That is so awesome and factory a/c, power brakes and steering. Those were rare options back then, especially a/c!

Four door wagon is an excellent utility vehicle. In the sixties people did not own pickup trucks unless they were a trades person. But the station wagon was mainstay for those who could afford them. We did not have SUVs and mini vans. The van craze had not taken off as yet (vans were trade vehicles and the hippies had not yet adopted them).

I always wondered what it was like to go surfing. Thank you for taking us along for your surfing trip. Make sure Duke gets new brakes at least.

I love Danny's Duke 56 station wagon my name is Jesse I'm a full-blooded mechanic I learned how to drive on a 56 Chevy my father had one for 30 years it was blue and it was a sedan and we love that car my father drove it for 30 years and I don't know what happened to it but yeah that's a beautiful little station wagon you need to paint it I will paint it blue with light blue and dark blue and just leave it original and put one of your souped up engines in it or whatever but I love your show and I have a lot of experience on Motors and Transmissions air conditioning brakes everything I did it for a long time and I enjoy your show and I hope you're successful and keep doing them

I have the same car, but with a newer motor. I did a disc brake conversion on the front (no power) and the car stops quite well. Thank you for this video, what a beautiful car!🇺🇸🇺🇸🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙

@Liv Scaffidi; Liv and Danny this area along the coast, PCH is GRAND !! Actually remember this section very well from when We lived in LA, CA, and personally from May 1982-Jan 1993. -1. In the South Bay, Redondo and Manhattan Beach from initially through July 1988 -a. the first apartment that i lived in was in S. Redondo, along the beach - no buildings permitted on the beach there. -b. the second rental with a old friend from HS through college (which i help him locate a job and move out there) was near the Pier, on the beach side - a condominium (very wealthy people-owners - our assigned parking slot was next to the owner of a RR Silver Shadow) -c. third was on the border of N. Redondo & Manhattan Beach off Aviation Hwy ~ 2 mi east of the beach and Manhattan Pier. -2. then lived in the city near Pico Blvd & Robertson Ave. through to Jan 1993. 3. My first time driving up PCH there and further was during my first year out there. 4. Later during 1983, my friend and roommate, then, rode on our bicycles from our apartment (third location) to his family in Simi Valley - Our travel was up PCH then diverting inward through the hills. -1. -> Clearly, vividly remember, recall this section along PCH, these homes - though some have newer buildings now -> those two which have two floors above ground. 5. You both comment about the limited garage space, that clearly You have need for, of, with , within the motor vehicles You have and work space. -1. There is actually a large amount of space to use with the ground floor area for an entire large garage -2. Then build the living space above - two floors if desired -3. The last property of this group to the north, seems it has much space to work with as is, along with the north side entrance area too. -4. there are other properties further north along the coast there, and more further up with wider space from the PCH, Highway to the beach also. Thank You much for recording editing and posting this video. It is a deLIGHful presentation and reminder of that area. 😄 IF You have more time, desire, interest, perhaps if You can, would plan more activities along the coast there and include recording, driving, showing, presenting more up the coast along PCH - many might be interested, deLIGHTed, enjoy, appreciate seeing more of these areas along the coast - also up to including Santa Barbara to Santa Maria, San Luis Obispo, past Malibu Point, Point Dume, Point Conception, Pismo Beach, Morro Bay, the Hearst Castle, the Airbase, perhaps an air show there too. If You would plan a trip further up the coast along PCH all the way to Big Sir, Point Sur, Saliinas, Monterrey, San Cruz [great surfing] to SF and north Certainly the coastal and beach areas south from LA to SD also. 😄 You"All could consider 🤔planning, arranging, travelling, driving the 1956 Chevy Wagon with the trailer, camping, with various activities along the coast. I used to ride that bike path to Carpenteria on the weekends. Did you surf at Mondo’s? They used to call it “girl beach” back in the day. A lot of beginner and women surfers with surf there.

Replace point distributor with gm HEI and a dual master cyl brake kit and disc brake kit from wilwood to stop

If you lived on the beach, you wouldn’t need a 56 Nomad to get you there. You would miss out on the cruise.

Alot of the garages on those beach front homes are fake. You can public park in front of a house, except where there is a garage.
