Sorry for the late reply. I understand your response to crash cymbals....the wind gongs do have more readily available 'crash' than many of the other gongs. But, it's always beneficial to be aware, we all hear sound differently, and what appeals to some, may not to others....be well!
Una consulta. Para medir el diámetro del gong se mide de extremo a extremo o también suelen medir la parte plegada (la parte doblada hacia dentro del gong)
Dear Mr. Blackburn, I am looking for gongs that could generate pure tones (specific frequencies), at least four, across the mid-auditory spectrum. What could be my best options, please. The idea is to activate them with temporal delays/overlap, as well as to position them around, to detect their spatial orientation. Thanks !
Sorry for the late reply. The gong is probably responding to your voice, or other instruments or sounds in your space. This is called sympathetic resonance, or entrainment, a principle of sound in which like things or instruments, tuned to the same pitch, respond to the waveform of another already resonating. They respond to the sound, and begin resonating, because that are attuned to that pitch or resonate frequency. We, actually, all do this, ourselves, as our thoughts and emotions are emitting wave form, and we 'entrain' to each other....it is one of the principles of therapeutic work in sound and other fields, including psychology. Be well!
