One of the greatest games in NCAA tournament history. Competitive, high-scoring game throughout, it went into damn overtime, and a buzzer-beater finish. Just amazing.
Absolutely. This thing had you on the edge of your seat all game. Both teams were well deserving of the win and it took a miracle shot at the buzzer to decide it. Let’s hope the final remotely lives up to this.
Both my teams lost in the elite 8. Oregon and Oregon State. I can’t complain, neither can the UCLA fans. The Bruins played great, they fully deserved to be where they where.
this game was the championship game in my opinion. both teams played like neither of them could lose. Creds to UCLA for a great run from going to the first four to play in to the final four. I don't think baylor can hang against the zags.
Really, believe he meant to bank that shot. He over shot it, and we’ll. UCLA, eleventh seed , with plenty of phantom fouls called early on them. They should be proud they played the way their coach and Wooden would like, great game, no seniors and thank you for a great game. You embarrassed all those sports announcers that didn’t give you a shot. They should be embarrassed, you beat 1 Michigan and 2 Alabama and almost defeated, undefeated Gonzaga...Congrats keep your head high...this will go down as one great game. Thanks again...UCLA...
Phantom calls? Juzeng was pushing off the entire gsme and never once was it called. In my opinion, they were underranked. No way should they have been an 11. I'd say a 5 or maybe even a 3. They couldnt miss. Even Riley, who hardly scored all year, was hitting 15-foot jumpers. That coach did a heck of a job, but phantom calls is more than a stretch. Thats a flat-out lie.
I applaud you for giving credit to your boys. They played well and overcame so much. However, don't be bitter man...Who cares if he meant to bank it in...he made the shot. If it was the other way around, would you have this same attitude or would you praise the hell out of UCLA? Would you talk about how amazing the shot was?? Be fan of greatness. Don't be a hater.
That Suggs block and pass sequence and last shot are his shining moments. Lets not forget about Mark few. He has developed a program by seeking players who are fearless, competitive, love to run the floor, and seeking the perfect pass. The instincts and actions of this team are a reflection on him and the program. I have been encouraging my son to watch this unique team exhibit how a team should play. None of this is possible without the guidance and encouragement of Mark few. In pressure moments, they didn't need time outs. They just played with the intelligence and freedom Mark has encouraged all season. Ucla was spectacular. Gonzaga's fundamentals and some heroics withstood the test of a nearly perfect game played against them. Baylor cannot play good and win. They will need to bring their A game. What an awesome ending to a horrible year of struggles. Lets enjoy Monday. I know nobody was thinking about covid or politics during this thriller. Just about a group of young men showing the determination and character that makes America special. I am so proud this morning to say I am a basketball maniac, a Gonzaga fan, and a very proud and happy American. I hope people in our country and around the world will set aside the recent polarization and tragic events to see what really makes America special. Only in America!
1992 Duke 104 - Kentucky 103 OT is still the best IMO. 1987 Indiana/Syracuse was incredible too. Regardless this is an instant classic and one of the best ever. Wow!
I feel this is going to haunt them for a while. To play as good as they did, only to give up a half court 3 pointer with a couple seconds left is a hard pill to swallow. Unlike their 1995 championship, when they were on the right side of a buzzer beater. Ironic how it works out sometimes.
@@RYMAN1321 right I mean they obviously shouldn’t ashamed cause they played their hearts out but the way I see it even if people were telling me that I would always have that feeling, man we might would have won if he didn’t make that shot always that feeling of almost being there but almost is never enough that would suck
Never before last night did I see the connection between a decisive "made" 35 ft bank shot and the abrupt ending of a guillotine blade's descent. Bruins fan but every basketball fan must give these two teams the highest praise for the skill levels reached and sustained throughout those 45 minutes!
@@MsDawnKeyballs I am not a fan of either team but Baylor looks unstoppable. That said that is why they play the game. UNLV was not suppose to lose either back in the day.
Love the commentary. Absolutely suberb. The commentary is nothing short of wonderful.Interesting, intense, intriguing and kept u attentive.cant stop watching and rewatching the commentary.no matter how many times I watch this commentary,it doesn't lose its appeal. The commentary was as exciting as the game itself. Hats off to the commentor
You know...I love sports, too. But calling a shot that wins a GAME a "Miracle" has come to strike me as taking a bridge too far. Winning a basketball game - in any manner, under any circumstance - is never what I would regard as a "Miracle."
The best team does NOT always win. There'd be little incentive to play the game if that were the case. In a sport that features bad foul calls, foul trouble, airballs, clock mismanagement, stepping on sidelines, walks, double dribbles, flagrant fouls one and two etc, etc. Situations affecting both great and mediocre players, NO, the best teams do not always win. Look no further than this tourney for proof of that.
It's pay back to UCLA for 06. I remember the feeling after that game. We could never seem to beat Arizona or UCLA back then. They always nipped us at the end.
In recent years you’re 100 percent right , that Nova Vs Unc game was amazing. Both these games up there with the best of them . As far as Craziest endings though , gotta be the Fab 5 with the infamous Timeout. Most classic was Christian Laetner vs Kentucky. My all time personal favorite tho , was back in 2006 or 2008 something like that , When Calipari was still at Memphis and had D Rose , where they were beating Kansas in the Championship late , but Kansas came back in the final minutes , and I’m pretty sure Mario Chalmers hit a Game Winner to win the title. And honorable mention, that rarely gets mentioned , Butler vs Duke ? Where they almost hit a half court shot to end the game , it was so close , if it went in , it would have been the greatest game ever , but just cause Butler didn’t win , doesn’t mean it wasn’t a hell of a championship . Those the main ones come to mind at the top of my head , I’m probably forgetting about several other ones
Just craziest ending , you ain’t seen nothing like that Michigan callin that TO and blowin it , that was like the equivalent of Seattle throwing the ball at the 1 yd line lol complete wtf wowww moment
ABSOLUTELY an instant classic, yes, even ahead of Laetner's shot for Duke. Two teams going at it as hard and well as humanly possible, and Suggs hits a shot he actually practices. Don't we all do 3-2-1ehhhh! from whatever age we could fling it any distance? March Madness has been the cathartic event this country needed!
Yeah, I did not realize just how good they were. My Houston Cougars started the game off well but that squad from Waco is stacked. They got guys that can score from all 5 positions. I think Gonzaga is gonna have their hands full on Monday night.
My gosh, the comparison to Rocky I is so accurate. UCLA and Rocky fought so hard in their respective matches, and even though they lost they truly poured out their hearts to the point where they can come out of the match proud and strong.
To be honest... I am a Big UCLA fan and when Johnny Juzang hit that 2 I thought it was going to OT2 but I was heart-broken when Jalen Suggs hit that deep shot whick was almost half-court 😢😟
Be proud of your team, they beat Alabama, a 2 seed, and Michigan, a 1 seed, and almost beat Gonzaga, an undefeated 1 seed. They played their hearts out and still lost. Nothing to be ashamed about.
@@elainazabkowski4555 They lost! Nobody cares about all that. If they don't win it all. It hurts regardless of what they did until that point. Hardcore fans will grieve and finally get over it "Eventually". I am a HC KY fan and i am still a lil upset about Wisconsin beating ky 2015 team lmao.
@@acidosis7071 I’m sorry I was just trying to say that UCLA played great, and UCLA fans should be proud of their team. I understand it is heartbreaking to see them lose after going so far. As a Maryland fan I have experienced it myself with the LSU game when they won from a layup at the buzzer. I understand what you are saying though.
This IS like Rocky except Apollo knocked him out with just enough time the bell couldn't save him. UCLA should hold their heads high....what a tournament run and what a game where they just kept coming back.
You know a lot of people basically ruled out UCLA but that game could have gone either way they literally won by the half court shot and who knows what would have happened if they went into double overtime. Wow man!! that was one of the best games I have ever seen in the NCAA tournaments. UCLA has nothing to be ashamed of they played their hearts out and congratulations Gonzaga you guys gave your best out there and left it all out on the court
"A controversial charge call with one second remaining in regulation had UCLA fans furious at Lucas Oil Stadium. Bruins Johnny Juzang was driving to the lane with the score tied at 81 and appeared to draw contact from Gonzaga defenders, but Drew Timme drew a charge call." I saw the play from different screen angles. Johnny went to his left around Drew. In one frame you can see both Johnny's shoulders and the ball past Drew. Drew looked like he put his hand on Johnny's right shoulder and pushed off to make it look like he was pushed. Tough call for the refs.. Any given day the call or score could have gone a different way. I have coached many sports for many years. Know you guys are winners. But more important you did your best. Can't wait till next season.
I didn't think Gonzaga was going to blow out a fired up UCLA and they ended up fighting for their lives and made it into the championship game on a historic long three point shot heard around the world! I believe Baylor is ready for Gonzaga and I picked them to win! 😀📢📣
One of the great games and endings in MM history. Just wondering why the announcer is screaming--game's already over and there's no audience. He makes it sound like a WWF match.
Great game, but damn, this ending will haunt UCLA for a while I feel....... They played their all, only to give up a half court shot in the last second :( They as well as the fans are probably going to be on suicide watch for a while now.
Ppl keeps looking at the Seed. The seed is irrelevant. It's how that Seed played. And UCLA played their lights out. Everyone pitched in. What lost UCLA the game was Johnny Juzang last play in Regulation(Might have been the coach idea) tried to draw a foul for a easy 1, or 2 point win in regulation. He should have just pulled up with a small jumper instead. But, it still went down to last sec shot to win it. So, even making that big mistake didn't really hurt them in the long run.
The UCLA Bruins. Great history! Great tradition! Ten point underdogs in the 2021 Final Four against the undefeated number one team in the nation!: Gonzaga! The Bruins were expected to get done in and dusted the same way Baylor dusted Houston! Uh, NO!!! The UCLA Bruins had Gonzaga against the ropes time after time after time! UCLA showed that mighty Gonzaga was VULNERABLE!! They forced an overtime after nearly eliminating Gonzaga at the end of regulation! Then the ten point underdogs forced undefeated Gonzaga to heave a desperation shot at the overtime buzzer to salvage their perfect, top-ranked season, and mighty Gonzaga was only saved by a prayer! You have nothing to be sad about, UCLA! That was one of the greatest efforts by a double-digit underdog Final Four team in history! John Wooden would be extremely proud of you! 4REAL!
@@RYMAN1321 I think they decided that it would be better to just let him advance upcourt and take a desperate, last-second heave, which 9 times out of 10 would not have gone in, than to try to contest it and risk fouling him and then have to watch helplessly as Gonzaga advanced to the championship game......from the free-throw line. 4REAL
I was just getting ready to go to the frig to get ready for OT2.....and needless to say, when Suggs hit that shot, I froze like a popsicle....... I have nothing against Gonzaga, but I wanted UCLA to win just because they were 10 point underdogs, but yet they defied the oddsmakers and made them look silly. 4REAL
Great game for, especially, the Bruins. I wonder what the last defender for UCLA was thinking when he stepped out of the way of the shooter on that final heave. He coulda taken the charge, I think.
Scouting report must've stressed he was a dangerous distance shooter. Defender should have isolated and at least trailed him closely attempting to distract the hero but, no matter, everyone on the floor made their contribution towards making this one of the greatest, cleanest competitions I've ever witnessed. More pertinent than what the defender was thinking is what Baylor's thinking.
I mean tbf what could UCLA have even done there, Suggs hit that from 40 ft out with a hand in his face, it’s not like they just let him get an open corner 3.
While I can't, for the life of me, understand why anyone would care what a bunch of strangers do with a ball, this sort of thing is still exciting to see.
Only greedy people bet the money line. I had UCLA plus 20 and a half and the over on the houston game. Gonzaga just had their scare and they grew up big time with this game. Baylor will have no chance of winning. I think it will be a blow out.
Talk about a ridiculous ending..how many years has this game been played for someone not to defend properly for the ENTIRE GAME......the human mind is weak
