Can we just agree that Gonzaga/UCLA is probably the best tourney matchup of all time? Every time they play each other in March, there’s alllllllways excitement.
Yeah that's rough. They will always have 2006. I think these games - and shots - become magnified if the team with the winning shot goes on to win it all.
He would have been hated had he missed it. Blown up all over social media that he blew it what was he thinking They only needed 2. But instead it’s completely the other way and he’s a hero. That’s why sports are so special.
Mark Few made some great half time adjustments and dialed up an awesome play at the end. I honestly thought my Zags were done, but we were able to get the W.
Agreed, it always seems like the first half is just a warmup for them. I don't know what Coach Few told them at halftime, but it worked. They limited the turnovers, dominated on the glass, and controlled the pace to grind away at a gassed and depleted UCLA. I can't believe UCLA went over ten minutes without a field goal in the second half. Jaquez looked liked he had run a marathon about halfway through the second half.
@@CosmoNautica22 50 rebounds for Zags & UCLA had 26 so extra rebounds on the offensive glass helped 2nd chance shots really good come back win for my Zags it was pay back time for Zags losing against them when Adam Morrison was playing UCLA made a big come back win with Adam Morrison crying 😂 at half court so this was a sweeter win
Mark Few is what makes Gonzaga elite not the players. He will take a team of role players and make them a powerhouse. Coach K is a legend, but as a coach Few is better. He gets more out of less.
@@kjaykingMVP nobody was expecting him to take a logo three with 10 secs left down 1 . Full team wasn’t there but we shouldn’t of let timme get that many pts earlier on
@@bigboppaa looks like yo head ass Woulda let that happen 2 🤦♂️ it’s a new game u gotta think 🤔 he gon pull the 3 .. We should pressed 2 mfs had a free walk in the park 👎👎
You're down 1 and had 10 secs when he shot it from 30 ft, with the lane cleared out so no one was in a spot to rebound. If he called that play he should have his head examined
If the Zags are going to win this Tournament finally this is there best chance because there's no one picking them like that. So hopefully for Timmie he can go out on top! Tough loss to swallow if you are a UCLA fan!
Went to bed at Half Time thinking the game was over plus had to get up early for the Gym & Work. Waking up to find out UCLA lost was crushing. -Eddie. Los Angeles,CA.
The announcers describe how missing the free throw is a practically sure win. Then one of them says "oh, I would try to make it, I'm not having him try to miss". Why? It ended up being a difficult but makable long three to tie.
@@boonemyers4739 I would still choose to miss the 2nd free throw, and force the rebounder to hoist an 80ft shot for the win rather than allow an out of bounds play that can give them a 30ft shot for the tie. Overtime becomes a whole new game, so avoiding that with a 99.9% certain win is worth the risk in my opinion.
Imagine a player is 20% shooting from 30ft range. The choose is a) 80% chance of win, 20% chance of tie OR b) 99.9% chance of win, 0.1% chance of lose. Depends on how much you value playing to win vs playing to not lose. In the nfl, a lot of coaches, when scoring touchdowns at the very end of games and being down by 1, will choose to go for 2 instead of kicking the field goal to tie and go to overtime, and the odds of losing are MUCH higher than in this circumstance, but they often play to win instead of playing for overtime anyways.
@@pidayrocks2235 I agree. And to go further...the 20% chance of being tied becomes a 10% chance of losing (assuming around a 50/50 for overtime.). So, its a simple as 99.9% vs. 90%, give or take.
@Claymore Jackson As Evan pointed out, your chances of losing the game are higher if you give a 20% chance of going to overtime vs a 1 in a million chance, so your strategy is shortsighted. If you asked the opposition: would you rather need to hit a 30ft shot and then play well in overtime to win a game, or would you rather need to hit a 80ft shot to win a game, they’d pick the first one… and that’s what you are allowing them to do.
@@KJA70 Iona has major conference size and had Pitino, and St. Mary’s had a pretty good season. Everyone coming into the Arkansas game thought it was going to be a slugfest and they got run out of the gym even though they had more fans. Gonzaga still can’t play like they did against UCLA and expect to beat a team that’s beaten every nonconference team they’ve played by double digits
Gonzaga is the only good thing that’s happening in Spokane as far as I’m aware, although Ive heard they produce a lot of peas and lentils in that area as well.
Wow its a mental laps on the defensive side of the coaches of ucla.because they are one and decided to go zone defense?you rather go man to man defense make zags a force offensive plays going zone against a team with a very good 3 point shooter when your up one and time is running out was not an ideal plan at all.
Imagine this was considered as a "u dont know what you are doing stup!d no court and shot clock awareness zero IQ bad shot" back in the day. Now it's the primary play.
