Something that he forgot to mention about the orks is that the orks are fungi. Every time an ork dies it releases a really big amount of spores that grow into other orks. That's why there are so many of them

One could make the argument that most of the horrible shit in the galaxy that wants to end humanity is a RESULT of humanity's imperialism and the hubris of the Empreror of mankind. In fact, i'm like fairly certain Nurgle and Khorne especially would not be nearly as powerful if Big E didn't go on his massive murder, slaughter and colonization spree initially

The lore at this point spans 30 years and over 600 books (when you include lore from different codexes in the like). There’s countless fanfiction and unofficial story from video games, board, games, and non-licensed projects. The HORUS HERESY book series spans 62 books currently, and is still being written. The lore is vast, but it shouldn’t intimidate anyone to jump in wherever they feel comfortable. All the factions are covered in various books and media, so you can learn about the factions, that you find interesting, or the overarching storyline of what’s going on in the galaxy pretty easily. Black library provides a lot of their books as audiobooks, as well, so you can listen to lore while doing other stuff.

Something else about Nurgle is that both he and his followers are.. Well, you wouldn't have guessed it with how absolutely horrible they look, but they are often very cordial, eloquent, even bizarrely friendly. It's just that they're so absolutely full of deadly disease that just being near them can make your flesh rot. You can still upset them by rejecting their pestilent 'gifts' though. As a Nurgle Daemon 'matures' however, it loses it's kind of innocent and jovial nature, especially if it's been killed in battle several times. Nothing embodies this overly friendly perhaps more than the Beasts of Nurgle, who are so happy to find new friends that it will clap-assuming it has hands- and wiggle with childish excitement when seeing mortals that they can pick up, hug and lick all over. Which will kill you cause-once again- horrible disease and also because they tend to crush you. Now, the problem with that is that the enthusiasm a Beast of Nurgle feels will eventually get replaced with an equally terrifying depression. They,ll become more sour, spiteful, melancholic and begin to actually feel despair. If a Beast of Nurgle in this state of mind THEN gets killed they will lose the rest of their chill when they're back in the Realm of Chaos, give in to their misery and wrap themselves up in coccoons for a few hundred or thousands years before coming out again as Rot Flies. Rot Flies-called Plague Drones when used as mounts- are so full of hate unbound from their disillusionment that they eat people's heads and then spit them out again as projectiles or as throwing weapons for their Plaguebearer riders. But a very SPECIAL kind of cruel fate is reserved for the individual who killed them prior to transforming into a Rot Fly assuming they've lived long enough, and that is being swallowed whole by the Rot Fly and being kept in it's abdomen for LITERAL ETERNITY. And no, you can never escape or even die. Sometimes one can even see the screaming faces of such trapped souls stick out of their bodies before disappearing again. TL;DR Nurgle is fun and jovial. Heavens help you if you actually manage to piss him or his servants off.

The Tau have also gotten a bit more love as time goes on as we started appreciating the "Naive New Faction" vibe they give off. The Tau, being a completely new empire to the galaxy, are basically completely unaware of just how absolutely horrible everything is. They try diplomacy almost every time. The first time they met the Dark Eldar, the Tau tried to negotiate with them. This led to one of the Tau's planets being completely raided and population completely stolen, because the Tau didn't know any better. Most Tau exploration missions go like this: >Set out into the wider galaxy >Meet new faction, try diplomacy >New faction they meet attacks the Tau on sight >The Tau win because they have really big guns >The Tau continue exploring in that direction and eventually meet the *ACTUAL* army of the faction they had just battled (what they battled was a scouting force) >Most of the Tau get completely annihilated >The surviving Tau retreat to their borders and try to tell their comrades what had happened >Comrades at home don't believe a word that they say due to it being too ridiculous to be true >Rinse and repeat It makes for some very interesting storytelling to see the "Naive Newbie" archetype be introduced into a completely wartorn environment and be completely initially blind to the raw destruction the galaxy has endured.

One thing that he kinda messed up with the Dark Eldar lore Bricky made it sound like the Dark Eldar and Slaanesh made a pact, this is untrue. Indeed, Slaanesh has them by the pinkie finger, and are being slowly consumed (meaning that their souls are being slowly sucked away, and their bodies grow older, weak and frail) but they found out, that if they drink the essence of others (either their own kind of any other race) they'll re-invigorate themselves back to normal and possibly even stronger. How do you get the essence? Easy! Through unfathomable torture. They are known to, pretty much literally, drink the essence of suffering of others. So, torture and fear are quite literally their meat and wine

There is one thing I want to point out in regards to the Drukhari; they are not, in fact, required to do Drukhari things. There are instances of Drukhari defectors who do not need to do Drukhari things in order to survive. It would be entirely possible for any given Drukhari to decide that they no longer wish to be a completely unnecessary filthy sweat goblin and go join a Craftworld or Exodite colony (Exodites are Eldar that escaped the birth of Slaanesh by hiding on primitive worlds and riding dinosaurs) or the Ynnari (the newest type of Eldar not mentioned in this video) or the Harlequins and live according to the rules of that culture and not get Slaanesh'd, but they refuse. Because they aren't doing what they do because they have to, they're doing what they do for the same reason the pre-fall Eldar did; they like it, and they're addicted to it.

Don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but Bricky made a mistake with Angron's lore. Angron didn't lobotomise himself to be angrier. When the primarchs got yeeted out into the galaxy as babies (long story), Angron landed on a planet that raised him as a slave in a gladiator arena. He was undefeated the entire time, but when he was put up against his father figure, he refused to fight. As punishment, the slavers installed old tech into his brain called the Butcher's Nails. Basically, his adrenaline is artificially enhanced and his pain receptors are triggered any time he feels anything other than anger or violence, so his brain has literally been rewired to feel pain when not angry, and satisfaction when he is angry. The only reason nobody took the nails out later when he was recovered by the emperor is because the Nails are old tech that wasn't designed for a primarch's brain, so removing them would have killed him.

Second comment, this time about Slaanesh: Slaanesh-as Bricky said- is all about excess. But also about perfection. Sometimes Slaaneshi followers take said pursuit of perfection to more innocent but nontheless fatal extremes. Think a painter. A Slaanesh-touched painter will draw you art so perfect-weather horrific or beautiful- that your brain cannot comprehend it and you go insane. Someone who makes clothes will have them so silky-smooth and awe-inspiring that you,ll end up like Narcissus and admire your own reflection- until you starve to death. Poets will recite poetry so heartbreaking that you,ll start to bawl your eyes out. Sometimes literally. And then you cry out your blood instead and eventually die from it. Think all of this, and then remember that these individual followers will pursue an even greater high to satisfy themselves once their work is done.

One of the driving factors for so many 40K fans are so artistic is due to the table top game. All those figures not only have to be put together but also painted. All those figs in these videos that look so great were all painted by players of the game. So if you paint all the time to play the game its quite easy to branch out into doing other kinds of art.

A few errors with the Necrons section, the overarching description was mostly true but it was missing somethings and again a few errors. A hidden thing with the Tau is the Ethereals are the ruling class and it's mostly because they actually control the other Tau via pheromones and mind control, additionally a lot of the races that join them tend to slowly die off and they're the big fish in a little pond faction wise. Farsight Enclaves are actually a splinter faction from them that realized this and don't have any Ethereals so they're straight up good guys but also avoid tabletop hate since their combat involves getting up close and they love melee/short range. Eldar are actually missing a lot, there are 2 other Eldar factions called Exodites and the Ynnari which the latter is a massive example of the Dark Eldar choosing to be messed up. See like the Craftworld Eldar the Exodites decided to flee but they decided instead to become more terrestrial, creating Maiden worlds which are basically natural paradises and they live simple lives while also creating or breeding space dinosaurs. As for the Ynnari they're a new faction who seek to awaken and follow the true Eldar god of death named Ynnead. Basically the Eldar have a Ragnarok style prophecy that says Ynnead will wake up when they all die to defeat Slaanesh and save their souls. A powerful psyker and Craftworld Eldar named Eldrad tried to wake it up early but only half succeeded. So basically the followers of Ynnead like the Harlequins don't have to worry about Slaanesh since they've given their souls to Ynnead. The Dark Eldar choose to be the way they are because if they gave up debauchery they could join the Craftworld or Exodites, if they still want to torture but for a selfless cause they have the Ynnari, but they choose to be this way.

Something Bricky didnt mention about Nurgle is that Nurgle also represents life. You will die, and from your rotting corpse flies, fungi and other things will feed on you and grow, and then die. He is the stagnant cycle of life death, and nobody can escape that. Slaanesh is about excess, in all things. weather that be joy, sadness, wealth, hunger or stimuli. Abuse of power falls under slaanesh, which would put about 80% of the imperial aristocracy and leadership into feeding him.

Way to go misexplaining what Harlequins are - they're not Demon Clowns but the main anti-demon faction within the Eldar race, keeping and guarding the Black Library that holds the most complete collection of demon knowledge in the universe. On top of that they are also storytellers of Eldar history by way of performing arts, mainly dance and acting out the Eldar history. They regularly travel through the Webway to Eldar Craftworlds or even the Dark Eldar main city to perform the Eldar history and are always welcome and respected ( also never attacked since they are also insanely good in combat, probably the best fighters the Eldar race ever produced). They serve the god Cegorach and one cool thing is that he didn't mention is that Eldar have found a way to safeguard their souls against Slaanesh which is by way of so called Soulstones. These are specially made gem like things a Craftworld Eldar always wears and in case of his or her death collects the soul and sort of stores it within, so it can be placed in sacred shrines aboard a Craftworld and be safe from Slaanesh for as long as the Soulstone is not destroyed ( also the reason why Dark Eldar use pain to fend off Slaanesh - they don't have the psychic potential and materials to create these Soulstones). To come back to Cegorach and the Harlequins - in their travelling dance troups there is always one Harlequin who plays the role of Slaanesh called a Solitaire. Nobody speaks to him/hear, they don't socialize and the thing is that their soul will go to Slaanesh upon their death by tradition and due to the role they play but Cegorach will fight Slaanesh for it - sometimes he wins and saves the soul but sometimes he doesn't. Chilling concept.

They had build a massive armada of space ships and even dozens of ''Attack Moons'' ( think Ork Death Stars) who could teleport through the Warp and were armed with weapons that screwed up the gravitational field of planets and crush entire enemy fleets. The Imperium barely managed to beat them back and they lost a Primarch, entire battle fleets and countless Space Marines & Imperial Guard troops. The Tau are hated for a very valid reason actually. Awhile back there was a strategy called Fish of Fury. In a nutshell, you'd destroy entire armies with nothing more than two Devilfish Troop Carriers and 24 basic infantry, called Firewarriors. Devilfish are hovercraft and as per the rules, you could only melee hit hovercraft if you rolled a 6 on a 1d6. On top of that, they also had disruption pods, which was basically active camo so the further way from them you are, the harder they are to hit. Combine that with higher than normal armor and you've got a unit that's pretty damn hard to kill. So what you did is take your two Devilfish with 12 Firewarriors each, charge them at whatever you wanted dead, form the Devilfish into a V shape with your Firewarriors deployed in the middle for your movement phase. During the shooting phase your Firewarriors unload 48 shots at close range, because their weapons get to shoot twice if the target is close. Against infantry you're landing half of your shots, wounding 5/6 hits, so about average you're ended up with 20 wounds. That's enough to kill pretty much any basic infantry outright. Against something with good armor like Space Marines, you've just wiped out half of their squad of 10. Now the Devilfish shoot, 10 shots between the two of them, you'll hit on 5s, rerolling 2 misses, you'll likely kill another Space Marine, reducing that squad by half. Anytime a unit takes 25% losses it has to roll a leadership test to see if it flees. Reduce a unit below half and they're making that roll with a penalty and in that edition anything that flees when at half strength runs until it leaves the board, eliminating that squad. But say by some miracle the victim squad doesn't run and it's now that squad's turn. To shoot at something that isn't the closest unit, you have to roll a leadership test again at a penalty. So even if you want to shoot the Firewarriors, you're likely shooting the Devilfish instead. Best scenario is that they end up rolling a 9 or higher on 2d6's to do any damage to the Devilfish. If by some miracle they actually shoot at the Firewarriors, between 4 and 10 models are now shooting at 24 models, who have enough armor to likely only lose at worst, 4 models. Want to use anti-tank grenades on the Devilfish since they're obviously the problem? Well, you do a melee roll so you only have a 1/6 chance to land anything from the one guy in the squad who is carrying one. Charge around the Devilfish to melee attack the Firewarriors? You can't. The Devilfish are big enough that you can't go around them in one turn. Next turn comes around and the victim squad is dead, accomplishing nothing. Rinse and repeat until everything on the board is dead and since most army's best anti-vehicle weapons were infantry based, the guys carrying that type of gear would just get ground into meat. And of course, when people caught on to this EVERYONE who played Tau started doing it, except for the guys with a conscience who went to such great lengths to prove that they were one of the good ones that they'd march their Firewarriors directly into a hail of machinegun fire just so they wouldn't be associated with the Fish of Fury. But the rest of the Tau players? They went on to cheese their way to the top of literally every single tournament, not caring how badly they were breaking the game. And to this day, 20 years later people STILL hate the Tau because it was that bad.

There is a faction of eldar that wasn't mentioned. And it makes sense since they do not have rules nor miniatures, but I feel like they deserve a short mention. Before some of the Eldars departed on Craftworlds, there was a fraction of the Eldar population that saw the depravity of their society and said "man, that's F'd up". The Exodites, as they are called, chose to go as far as possible from the old Eldar empire, and rather than making the same mistakes again, and live in comfort and debauchery, they returned to monke and rediscovered what working is. They still have the technology, they just lowered the bar enough on automation so that their mind stays occupied and doesn't fall into debauchery again. And from what have been made by the fans about them, this could be a cool faction if they had their own miniatures and ruling. Think basically space wood elves, riding raptors and pterodactyles into battle with some very advanced tech to back all of this.

The lore is terrifying, insane and hilarious at the same time. Here's an example: 1. An Imperial Guard regiment is being annihilated on some long forgotten planet during a long forgotten reclaimation campaign 2. Their annihilation papers are being submitted to the Administratum 3. The papers get lost in the mountains of documents 4. After a hundred years, The High Command orders the destroyed reigment to take part in another campaign 5. They don't show up (because, You know, they are all dead) 5. After 10 years, they are ordered to show in yet another campaing 6. Again, they don't show up 7. They are deemed traitors 8. A punishment campaign is created to bring the regiment to the Emperor's Judgment (a summary execution) 9. No one knows, where they are 10. The expeditionary force of 3 Imperial Guard regiments are looking for them to this day in the timeline

Tau fits the overarching story better then just the grim dark setting they are the youngest race. They are the idealist they havent become jaded with time. They have no major calamity like the war in heaven for the necrons. The birth of slannesh for the eldar. The dark age of technology for man. Their place in warhammer is suppose to be polarizing they are what every race was
@airsoftmanic

Yeah I remember when the Tau was introduced and it was not welcomed as it was basically just "good guy" faction. But they've evolved into that young race that was ignorant about just how small they are and how horrible this universe is, but are quickly realizing that just because they managed to unite their own planet, doesn't work with the other races. I think a good example is their first couple of battles with the imperium, when they managed to take down a space marine captain and thought they'd killed the leader of the entire imperium and thought they would retreat, then were shocked when the rest of the space marines basically bum-rushed them. They've managed to carve out their own niche now, and are just as much a part of 40k as the rest of it.

Great reaction to every faction, I can see you're getting into this! My favorite faction by far is the Orks, I love their ramshackle aesthetic, they just scrap together whatever they can for a good fight, and how comedic they can be. They think war is great entertainment, so in this dystopian war ravaged universe, they're right at home and are having a great time! They just want to rush in and crack some heads. It tends to be reflected in the attitudes of ork players even. Swarm tactics, not always using meta tactics but very fun ones, what this guy says is pretty accurate "never met a salty ork player" we just want to throw dice and win or loose, we're usually having a good time! Also the freedom of building their models. Since orks use scavenged technology it's totally in character to kitbash and modify their models with extra bits to make them more your own, and I enjoy doing that. It also helps that they are green and green is my favorite color. I currently play Warhammer Kill Team mostly, which is a small skirmish game in the 40,000 universe. TBH it's cheaper to get into than the big army 40,000 game. People can go crazy and spend hundreds on massive armies, but in a skirmish game you just need one squad so I like that. I find the creative aspect of this hobby fun, painting the minis is fun, and you can choose what colors to paint. They can be pricey but eh, I think it's worth it. Hey, if you ever got a box of models to try for yourself, I'd totally watch an unboxing video lol.

Something about the Harlequins, which is representative of both Bricky glossing over details and maybe Bricky not knowing better at that moment in a video that is half a decade ago already: Harlequins are the remnants of the Eldars that pledged themselves to Cegorach before the birth of Slaanesh. Cegorash was always a really, really, really weird Eldar god, a trickster figure, a clown. Think Coyote, Loki, for the entire Eldar race. He is also one of the two only gods of the old Eldar pantheon to have survived Slaanesh (Khaine doesn't count). He survived Slaanesh by flying as fast as he could and hiding in the webway while all the other gods were basically devoured by Slaanesh. The entire point of the Harlequins is that they're pledged to an Eldar god that is actually alive, and is a trickster figure, and only survived by being a trickster figure. Their souls are protected from Slaanesh because each time they die, Cegorach steal theirs from the grasp of Slaanesh by pure trickery, or at least they hope so. They're random because their god are basically playing 18D chess with forces that could destroy him in an instant. No one can understand Harlequins because Cegorach sure hopes no one can understand him. They're chaotic a moment, Dark Eldar the next, and Craftworld the next one. And Cegorach has no real hope of winning, but still try, because if there is a god alive in the warp that hates Slaanesh more than Cegorach, I don't know it.

Angron actually something called “butchers nails” forcibly installed in his head in a gladiatorial fighting coliseum before he was found by the empire. These nails that were designed for normal people absolutely fucked him up. Normally a person would function normally except in combat and receive massive amounts of combat stims, heightened focus, reflexes, adrenaline, and strength….. angron isn’t a normal person. So the nails actually dug DEEPER than they should have and enchanted his rage beyond normal and sent him into a frothing madness. He now feels nothing but agonizing pain outside of combat…. Genuinely the most tragic primarch of them all.

The Alpha Legion is, IMHO, the best and most badass faction in 40k. It's basically a Space Marine legion crossed with the CIA of the 50s: they are all about espionage and covert warfare. Their most incredible feats include: - Spending centuries indoctrinating recruits from a Space Marine fortress world. Once the time is right, the Alpha Legion activates the indoctrination protocols, and the Chapter fractures into a myriad of sub factions. In the chaos that ensues, the Alpha Legion swoops in and ransacks the chapter's stocks of armaments and gene-seed. - Saturating a planet called Seer's Rest with psychoactive gas, causing the psykers of the world to experience the same nightmare: an apocalyptic rain of venomous serpents. The dreams are so vivid that the gestalt of psyker energy manifests the rain of snakes into actual reality, and half of the population of Seer's Rest dies within a day. The Alpha Legion descends on the planet and abducts thousands of comatose psykers. - Through a combination of hidden agents and psychic hypnosis, Sorcerers from the Alpha Legion convince the Administratum (ie the Imperium equivalent of the Federal government) that the maps they have of the Avernia system are wrong. When the Alpha Legion attacks the system, psychic distress calls are launched and the Imperium diverts a formidable fleet from the rich world of Negligence to the false coordinates of Avernia, ending up stranded in the wrong Segmentum. Both Avernia and Negligence fall to the Alpha Legion in less than a year. - Fooling the High Lords of Terra into sending a cadre of six Vindicare Assassins to eliminate an Alpha Legion warlord claiming to be Alpharius, the original Legion's primarch. The Assassins give chase for five years, and after that, their heads are found in the frozen food storage rooms of the High Lords of Terra. - Fooling the Inquisition into declaring them exterminated. Three times. And to top it all off, WE DON'T KNOW WHETHER THEY ARE TRAITORS, RENEGADES, OR CLOSET LOYALISTS!

The reason that the chaos gods and the warp are so evil, despite having two sides to them, is that a million years in the past there was a galaxy spanning war called The War in Heaven which made the current conflict in 40k look like childs play, and there was so much killing and mayhem that it sent the warp (The sea of souls) out of whack, and filled it to the breaking point with negative emotions. The Necrons, Eldar, Krork (Orks), and Old Ones all were participants in the War.

So many people talk about Slaanesh as if it would be a good time. And I guess it would be... For a time. But the whole point is that when you experience excess constantly, it becomes dull... So you need to seek higher and higher thrills. The point there is that eventually, you wind up with the likes of the worst prisoners you've ever heard of, for the worst crimes known to man, become common place. And the worst part of it all... When you're there, physically willing to do literally 'anything', no matter how depraved to slake that thirst... Your punishment is that that, too, will grow dull. Eventually, you will never be able to slake it, then become a hollow machine seeking a way to mindlessly, but unable to.

When she said "how can it get any worse" in the Dark Eldar section i was like, just u wait. Another funny thing about this orc imaginary power is that it can work against them aswell in really bad ways. There are 1 story specifically where a large group of orcs where flying through space in there gigantic ship and they came apon another group of orcs. This second group hade alot of orcs climbing on the outside of there ship with no space suit ofc. The boss of the first group was talking to the boss of the 2nd group and asked why there boys was on the outside of there ship. The boss dident know why that was a problem untill the first boss told him that they couldent survive in the vacume of space. The moment hes boys heard that every orc on the outside of there ship instantly died. The 2nd group of orcs dident know that they couldent survive in space untill some1 told them so there imaginary powers kept them alive until they found out. Just imagen the galactic threat the orcs would become if they actually knew they hade this imaginary power. There are theorys that the Emperor of mankind only became as powerful as he was becouse of the orcs. The orcs look down on mankind but from battles when the Emperor was still walking around the orcs always saw him as a great warrior and becouse of all the statues and monuments they have seen of him on planets they belive the Emperor to be a great warrior god and in some storys they even se him doing battle with the orcs own gods. Even if the Emperor is now stuck to hes chair this orc belief that he is a warrior god on par with there own gods has to have boosted hes power.
