It's too bad about Limpy, but I'll just add a story of my own. About 4-5 years ago, I went to my family's Thanksgiving celebration and as I was driving down the lane and saw a doe with an obviously broken hind leg. She had a yearling with her. I went in the house and told my cousin I thought he needed to get his gun because she was so injured. He told me she had been there several years and that the community kept a lookout for her. Every year she had a fawn. These creatures are very resilient, much more than we realize.

Obviously do whatever y’all feel is right, but just a recommendation is to add a uvb bulb to the tortoise area. That will be his replacement for the sun when he is indoors.

I had a Black Angus bull that weighed close to 2000 lbs. that would run his tongue out for bread, he loved bread. He was so large I could not rap my arms around his neck. He was gentle as a lamb.

Tortoises DO hibernate & it needs a specific UVB bulb yet & also you should get a dish it can climb in & out of. They make dishes that have a ramp which work well you also make sure it's a slow incline cause you don't want steep edges where it'll flip & drown. It also needs substrate to dig it's hole to hibernate this winter!
