14 days early for Life is Strange?! Okay now that must be a record outside of beta. I'm surprised that isn't getting more attention. For a story-based game, that will come back to bite them, as people may as well watch people play it and just not buy it at that point.
Ey, thanks for the callout lol to clarify, content that's shorter than 15-20min is less preferred when I am working or playing games so I don't have to keep finding another video. (though 4+ hrs might be too long since that might be hard to watch in one sitting)
These days it's not even worth it to play on day one. Games still come out buggy, with missing content or without proper online support. Waiting for the inevitable "day two" patch seems to be the more reasonable thing to do. I still can't understand why people rush so much to be the first to play a broken game and get a worse experience.
You can already go to a ren faire in normal modern clothes, that's what most people were wearing when I've gone. The time traveler weekend is an invitation to do other weird stuff, like showing up in a Greek/Roman toga, Star Trek outfit, or Revolutionary War uniform. The idea is that time travelers from those other eras have gone to the Renaissance, because the employees/booths/decoration will still be standard Renaissance faire stuff.
Late comment here: I read a tweet about how people miss driving down to a store to rent movies and video games. Nowadays, we can still rent movies digitally, but I wonder why we haven't invented a similar way to rent video games. I posted about this and got replies saying that's what demos are for. Demos are cool, but how often do people download a demo and then never follow through with the purchase? I was thinking of a system through any game store cough Steam... where you could pay per play time. Whatever you pay goes to both the store and the publisher, and in the long run, all your rental fees could go towards paying for the whole game. Clearly, every game would be different; we have to consider factors like game length and price. I wouldn't mind paying to play the game for a bit, and if I later decide to buy it, I know I have some credit towards it. Plus, developers and the store are still making some money in the process.
Will, the Lindsay Ellis Beatles video is great you should watch it. I know you’re a little young for the height of the Beatles but maybe your father can give you some backstory on who they are (I’m 28)
My dad always tells the story of how I put several Polly Pocket dolls in a VCR as a kid. Granted, I was like 5 years old (and now I think about it probably too young for them). Had to take the whole thing apart to get them out and the thing working again 😂
Ale8one has a location finder on their site where they show you where in New York and other places like Long Island where you can buy it. While there is not a lot in New York, they seem to have a huge variety in Pennsylvania and surrounding areas.
I live in Tennessee, and we have ALE8 at Walmart, Publix, wherever. Additionally, I used to live in Florida, and I could occasionally find it at Fresh Market.
My sister is trying to convince me to buy the next Life is Strange game on launch day, while I'm trying to convince her to wait until Black Friday. I really hope that she doesn't learn about the payed access period, because paying 80$ for a Life is Strange game is insane.
Honestly, i absolutely hate watching stuff on twitch.. cant rewind, cant pause and play, atrocious ads all the damn time, horrible search/discover options, constant bitrate problems.. i only have it because the 3 guys i (sometimes) watch over there Gronkh, RoyalPhunk and Northenlion stream exclusively over there. Also CS:GO/2 tournaments.
Olympic events are all like times and stuff, right? They should set up some speed run events. SMB1 speed run competition. Start a whole new speed run category for olympic speedruns.
i finally downloaded Jedi Fallen Order on xbox for the very very first time back in May during that star wars celebration. Five bucks. $5.00. Im of the patient type
I used to be right there with Bob. I used to LOVE gamepass and it was the whole reason I got an Xbox. But dad-gum, all this news about them is sad to hear because they were doing so good
I honestly wonder if purchases includes stuff like twitch prime redeems, or drops. Because that number is suspiciously high. (Specifically for the %95 of people who buy stuff in free to plays) Also paid early access is literally how I would describe almost every AAA release for the last 10 years.
Part of me (a 35 year old man) thinks if thats what they need to make there extra money let the people that want to pay it. With my backlog im waiting for a discount anyway and i like this way better than "needed in app purchases". dont care if they are cosmetics (again let the idiots pay for it, exept that it damages kids). HOWEVER! How long before the length of this "pre-release" will be linked to the popularity of the game. Lets say a month earlier for the new COD. Hearing your list they are already playing with the length.
Will is 100 percent wrong about the halo show looking specifically cheap or like a 90s Star Trek episode. It’s not top of the line CGI but I thought it looked decent. Not cheap
Renaissance fair that I have been to did not require dress up. All the dads were not dressed up with the kids and the soccer moms were flinging their dressed up kids around. Just carry cash. I went all day without eating cause all I use is card.
Stop calling it getting it "early" you are paying the ridiculous price of 60-70 dollars to get it late. Just call it what it is and call their bs when you see it. These publishers should go to hell.
Hoping for "Marvel vs Capcom 4"?? This is MvC Infinite erasure- oh, wait, Will's talking about MvCi now. Oh he said hopefully theyll make a proper MvC4. Well FUCK, now what am i going to complain about in this comment?
I regret pre ordering Mw3 2023 I paid $109 just to get an early access to the beta test play and I wish I didn’t do that I’m not doing that anymore it’s a waste of money for sure
Games that offer special editions with an early access incentive should be discounted past the early access period since that is no longer part of the package.
I have no idea how it took all of this for you to realize that Game Pass and Microsoft are bad. And that Microsoft has clearly been trying to wield their wealth and power to warp reality to make Game Pass viable. I won't pretend it's a bad value for gamers, it's not. It's obviously a good value for gamers. It's terrible for the industry though. This has been obvious for a while.
