Leslie Gore would have been 78 this year. She was out to friends and family but she only publicly gay for the last 10 years of her life until her death in 2015. I think she would have loved this.
@@awhatsname She's very underrated! Most of her songs gaining it's recent popularity on the internet. Especially I wanted to see a biopic about her, but Hollywood had been mistreating the industry nowadays.
Why do some folks have a need to get into other people's 'sects-uality'? Why can't we simply appreciate Leslie Gore for her singing abilities and for the joy she had brought?
@@finslawkeeping original lyrics despite them not applying to the person covering the song is pretty common. The Luke Combs cover of Fast Car is a recent example off the top of my head where he kept the lyrics "So I work in the market as a checkout girl"
Huh. I know of Leslie Gore specifically from the song *It's My Party* which is iconic and extremely easy to make gayer. Maybe Chappell Roan should do a cover of that song.
ive been thinking all this time "I'd kill for a Chappell Roan cover from PMJ" and all my prayers has been answered. this turned out so well i'm going to be repeating this all month
I know I’m old now since I had no idea what this song was, and apparently it’s like one of the biggest songs this year lol. On the bright side, I guess that means I discovered two new bangers today!
Tatum has so much talent, those effortless moves between octaves 😍 the sass and emotion is all there, emulating both Chappell and Leslie and bringing her own touch to it as well, bravo!
2:42 I can’t tell if this was a mistake but when she says “I’d have” and cuts herself off and goes back to “you’d have to stop the world”, it almost seems like she’s accidentally outing the song’s recipient as herself. Bravo to Tatum, phenomenal vocals!
@@superflaminggayelmo8830 Why? because the focus in on her sexuality in current year paradigm? It could be used in other ways, as saying "you're highlighting her just because to appease the alphabet soap." Did Freddy Mercury make his sexuality an important feature of himself?
@@nosotrosloslobosestamosreg4115what’s wrong with someone noting an aspect of an artist that connects with them? No one aspect of any person isn’t important, it’s part of the whole that makes them, them. It perplexes me the type that need to walk around to kick the sand castles of others to make themselves feel more important?
@@nosotrosloslobosestamosreg4115 uh, yes. he did. He used it to push gay rights forward tremendously. His death brought to light the horrors of the aids pandemic to those who had been shielded from it by the government. even then, he grew up in a world which was virulently homophobic and so had to play it very much safe. just cause you dont know gay history doesnt mean you get to flaunt your ignorance.
i've heard this song so many times and covers of it as well but this was SO REFRESHING !! the little changes in melody and rythm give it a new personality, it's beautiful
As I expected, another banger from PMJ. Scott is like Lawrence Welk or Arthur Fiedler..taking contemporary hits and turning them into music and gramma and the kids can all swing to.
Great rendition! I love the style. "Have to stop the world just to stop the feeling" - the emotions are still there just like the original song. It was great seeing you on tour! For those who can't get enough Chappell covers, check out our cover of Good Luck, Babe!
I'm so happy to see Lauren DeMarco in this video. I first saw her in the PMJ cover of "Isn't She Lucky" and was impressed with her stage presence (and singing, of course!).
This is almost too good a send-up of Leslie Gore -> congrats to Sunny for the wardrobe, Chappell Roan's lyrics slyly undercut the super saccharine approach from those days
They are really formidable live, I was Lucky to see them in concert in Madrid, Last Monday October 21, 2024, they rotate a lot, certainly, but they are all very good. Amazing concert, Teatro Coliseum. MADRID
A forty-something here who up until a week ago had never heard of Ms Roan. Until I got the introduction from my 13 year old daughter. Not fussed about the original but this one works for me! Great job guys and sharp suit @Scott Bradlee 🔥
i am SO EXCITED to see yall doing more a recent/popular song again omgg i feel like i haven’t known any of the songs in a while so i wasn’t as big of a fan but i love this :)
As canções & baladas dos anos "50 & ,60 são as maravilhas do século "20" ! A mistura de ritmos & vozes ! Está de parabéns maís uma vez "Scott " por trazer estás maravilhas pára o século "21" ! 🍇🍒🍓✨🐈🇧🇷
