A new daytime schedule from 17 October 1994 on BBC1 TV with a new series of Good Morning with Anne and Nick. The voiceover at the start of the recording is Mo Dutta.
Apart from Morning Live, everything else from 10.00am until 1.00pm on BBC One is recorded programming, nothing live, and no live news summaries on the hour either.
0:22 could be innocent, but I suspect that they deliberately worded the script for the words Good Morning Britain to appear consecutively. The name of the show already came as close as they could get away with. At one point they even adopted a clone of the old TV-am clock on screen. I thought this show was alright. Tough job taking on This Morning with such a similar format, but it was a decent competitor. Went through many alterations though, and never seemed satisfied with itself. I think the problem was that the BBC expected too much from it too soon.
I think they may have missed a trick with the scheduling. If they couldn't compete head to head with This Morning, they could have pulled it back to start immediately after Breakfast at 9.05am. The runtime in 1994 was 1hr45mins, so there would only have been a 20 minute overlap from 10.30am. Shuffle round Pebble Mill and Kilroy to fill the gap, they could have found that Good Morning dominated the ratings when there wasn't the stark choice of one or the other.
What I still find most hilarious apart from the awful Nick being late to studio gag is Anne's constant brief mention of guests being Twiggy and Noel Edmonds but with no plug as to why they're on or when? Nowadays you'd have something like, "Noel Edmonds joins us to talk about the latest goings on at the Great House" etc..
O J Simpson doing a fitness routine? A section all about fake furs? Encourage to take a drug which may cause deformities in your unborn child? SOUNDS GREAT!! I have NO idea why this was cancelled... :(
