I was in a production of 'Schools Will Rock You' when I was year 13 and my Galileo had never kissed a girl, so I was his first kiss ever and for the entire rehearsal period he refused to do it. I think it was only on our tech run he finally got over the fact it was inevitable. As an additional joke I kissed most of the principles just to be like 'see no big deal'. It was an interesting show.

my first stage kiss was in sound of music during 16 going on 17. the guy playing rolf was more than a foot taller than me so we spent a good half hour rehearsing the kiss at the end because of the height difference between the two of us and the fact that we had to sync it to the music. the awkward part was that his sister was the stage manager (and my friend) and she just had to sit there watching the entire time.

I remember Chasing Pavements spending a solid 4 weeks at number 2, it was really unlucky as that's when Basshunter released their debut song over here which everyone went mad for then Duffy released "Mercy" and jumped her for the top spot!

I've had to kiss someone on stage with a cold sore in ' The Sound of Music' as Liesl! We got around it by him putting loads of Vaseline on his lips, and kind of 'missing'; I'd then run offstage and wipe my face! Thankfully I didn't get a cold sore!

There’s a new organization here that’s providing intimacy directors whose job it is to coordinate all intimate scenes in shows to make sure everyone’s safe and comfortable and I personally think that should be standard

In our production of Annie last year, I played Miss Hannigan and in the script it said that Rooster had to kiss my cheek. The guy playing Rooster out right refused, and added a little 'ew I'm not doing that' for extra insult 😂

I'm curious to know if the kiss scenes and even the relationship on stage was different once they've became a couple.

My first on stage kiss was for a student-directed play called Personal Effects. We only had a couple weeks of rehearsals and waited pretty much the day before the performance to practice it. Keep this in mind: this was only like 2ish months into my freshman year of college and I had to kiss a junior (I was the youngest in this show), so I barely knew these people. I would like to think it wasn't awkward because I just thought "It's in the script, you gotta do it" and went with it.

I’m so glad in professional theater there is so much effort to make folks feel comfortable. From my experience in high school theater (in the US), i think there just isn’t the care taken. My first ever kiss was in a show (it was a funny one thankfully), which was done in private rehearsal, but my first “romance” kiss in a show the next year was done for the first time on-stage, in front of the entire cast. People saw how bad I was at it and we never were even taught how to make it look convincing. I think that’s pretty common experience in amateur theater, which makes the whole experience so awkward when you’re 16.

Had my first stage kiss at 11, when doing amateur theatre as a child. Funny cos when I was with my most recent amateur theatre group, this guy thought I had a crush on him lol. You kind of just banter at get on with your cast mates, he was my dance partner in the 60s Cindy-Ella, Cinderella, panto we did. Silly guy, and we were all adults as well. Professionalism hey?? Lol

I had an on stage kiss when I was 16 with a guy who was around 22! At the time I thought it was pretty cool, but looking back I feel so bad for him haha

Onstage kisses are the reason I got out of theater in highschool. I got cast in a lead role my first year opposite a boy who was much older than me and was in a relationship. When we found out we’d been cast together, he asked me in a room full of the entire (very large) cast whether or not I’d ever been kissed before. When I said no, he FREAKED out and got all defensive about his girlfriend and the entire room laughed at me. I’d never felt so small. I called the director that night in tears and quit the show. T’was awful!

Oh man. My first onstage kiss was when I was 16... Cosette in Les Mis kissing Marius. I'll never forget that awkward feeling. By now that even more intimate scenes are just part of the job. It is very odd once you think about it though.

My on stage kiss story was during rodger's and hammerstein's cinderella (the political one from 2013 not the happy one from the 50s) I had to kiss a girl three times for a very long time which wouldn't be awkward if not for the fact that I'm a freshman and she's a senior (high school) and I'm very gay

I feel a bit weird about stage kisses but only because of the age difference. I'm a fair bit younger than most people in my drama group, so I'm 20 and the closest person to me is like 26/27 which I know isn't really that different but it feels a bit weird being like they're my love interest. I've never had to do an onstage kiss but I've had near kisses and hugging to make it look like a kiss.

I have a story about stage kisses So I’m in high school and our play this year was “Almost Maine” and if you know the show, almost every scene has at least one kiss in it. I was playing opposite one of friends and she had to kiss me. I’ve had my first kiss and this isn’t. My first stage kiss either so I was fine, but she freaked out and it didn’t really go as planned... Basically we decided to just rip off the bandaid and do it in the scene and when she came up to kiss me, she grabbed my face and RAMMED her mouth onto mine, but panicked and missed and ended up hitting me in the face. She almost broke my nose.... Yeah it wasn’t great.

My main question is do you ever get jealous or feel uncomfortable watching each other kiss other people?

I was actually forced to do my first stage kiss (as Chloe Valentine in Be More Chill so I was kissing the boy playing Jeremy) in front of everyone at rehearsal. My girlfriend at the time was in the ensemble so she was watching too. I know the director didn't like me but it was just way too far, made that moment so much worse than it should've been. Worst director I've ever worked with and will never work with him again.
