Edgar Winter's song is heard for the second time in the Hoffmann-DeNiro movie. After it is composed and recorded on an old label and filed under 1930 folk music in the Library of Congress, it's time for President to have a speech about William Schumann, nicknamed Old Shoe, who's got to be brought home from Albania. The funny thing is that people vaguely "remember" the song...

Listen to the song and listen to the opening of "Litlle Big Man" also starred by Dustin Hoffman (1969) listen to how close "Good Ol' Shoe" has similar chords to the opening and the ending if "Little Big Man". I believe that this was no "coinciidence" but one of those tributes to Hoffman's accomplishments in his film career. The song is unmistakable to this film.
