Excellent The Good Old Days I sorry to say we will not a brilliant programs like this anymore I met Bernard Cribbons at the London Film Convention In 2019 he kindly signed his autograph for me which I still have
We were so lucky those of us that that lived through this time. So many wonderful stars. and the GREAT DANNY LA RUE leaves me speachless. What can one say about this fantastic calibre? Still missed Dan!
Wonderful artistes with deep talent and great abilities. How sad that young people are now influenced by things like "The Voice" etc. We have lost so very much in the entertainment world during the past thirty years.
It's great to see this programme again, and Danny La Rue was superb, as always, but what a pity Leonard Sachs has been cut out. The Chairman was part of the entertainment, undoubtedly, majestically, magnificently introducing the acts, and chiefly, yourself!!!
Brilliant I hoped someone would download some of "The good old days" The BBC wanted their heads examining taking it off guarenteed huge TV audiences. The waiting list for tickets was about 12 years Danny la Rue showed what a fantastic performer he was watch him during the marrow song he new how perform innuendo.

He is Robert White, who had a great affinity with the Irish songs so beloved of John MacCormack. My late mother adored him, but, sadly, I could never listen to him without wishing it was MacCormack singing.
Interesting. Mr Perks talked about the station master going to Leeds for a haircut. But Mr Perks was a railway porter by day and he went through to Leeds to perform in the music hall by night.
First up is Bernard Cribbens, lately seen as Wilf Mott, a companion of Doctor Who! Also played Mr Perks, the station porter in the Railway Children movie.
American tenor Robert White sang "When You And I Were Young, Maggie" and "The Old House". He was a regular and very popular guest on the show and a sublime master of the old Irish ballads. This CD is a superb collection of his Irish ballads, although these two are not included. Low priced copies abound on ebay and it is a magnificent album. www.amazon.co.uk/Favorite-Irish-Songs-Princess-Grace/dp/B000008M8U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1517700005&sr=8-1&keywords=robert+white+irish+songs

Everything about this makes me want to listen to the Dead Kennedys for about an hour. At least the tap dancers were real black men instead of white people in blackface I guess. The only reason I know about this show is I recently became a John Inman fan through discovering Are You Being Served? Through him I learned about Danny La Rue.
Heinrich..this show was filmed at a theatre in Leeds that specialised in replicating Music Hall shows and the audience came in costume, there was a long waiting list to see the show such was its popularity.Music Halls were common and the main entertainment venue for the working class before cinemas.
