How to tell you did a bad shim job: the gears bind up and don’t move, the gears wobble too much, the AOE isn’t correct when connecting to the piston rack or motor.
@vettelover2009 sorry for such a late reply. i dont bother with shimming ive been using hpa for over 2 years now and wouldnt ever bother going back to aeg
IDK of my issue was resolved, but thanks to your detailed video on how to get the perfect shim........I was finally able to for 30rds consistently without misfire, semi locking out, or misfeeding bbs. Used your advice, lubed my piston and tappet guides, checked shims and clearances.......I think she back on deck and firing stronger than before. Ty! Even if it's a pump fake, it's progress! Just waiting for the new barrel and bucking to be delivered tomorrow. Then we'll take her out and see what she's got.

That's good. Too bad sometimes the motor doesn't agree with it.
Could you also perhaps make a video of how it sounds with only gears+motor in the shell, and fully assembled gearbox? Was doing my 1st shimming this week and I couldn't find any video examples of how the gearbox sounds partially assembled / fully assembled / finally in the gun. Had to put the entire thing together piston/cylinder included to hear it proper - which just chomps on time.
I did my AK and at the end I was surprised when it sounded like a pneumatic gun. In this video there’s probably no grease, they won’t spin that much and rattle with grease on them.
Well shimmed AEG’s often sound much more crisp than stock/badly done ones because the motor doesn’t have to work so hard and spin up against resistance, so you hear the pop of the piston slapping the cylinder head and the pressure leaving the barrel more than the motor spin up.
I noticed the Bevel and spur bearing spins with the gears but the sector one doesn't as much, does that really matter when that happens as theres no load on them? Noticed the same thing when shimming my latest build the bearings wouldn't spin so much but the shimming is flawless
The SHS would do very well. Remember to Loctite your rack down once you’ve done AoE corrections. I’m running a similar setup at 50 RPS and an SP-160 spring.
Hey, dunno if this is the right spot to ask. But I've been having issues with my version 2 M4 platform semi. I've changed the cut-off lever, the gear spike thingy reaches the lever correctly, the plastic contact for the trigger is in good shape. Everything seems right, don't know why it doesn't shoot in semi anymore. Don't know what else to check. (I'm using a GATE NanoASR mosfet)
Bushings 0.1mm bearings 0.3mm that’s what they’ve told me. Personally I’m looking for as less wobble I can get between the gears, whiteout achieving no wobble at all.
By any chance do you have a video about shifting gears cuz I am trying to do that with a new gearbox and they like really rough to move the gears can you help at all
so for shifting gears you should reach the end of your gear where you dont go any faster, push in the clutch and move the shifter to the next gear up :)
My all metal M4 ( M4 undertaker at GBU) shoot 380fps, all metal gears, V2 12;1 gear ration, 10in handrail , simple looking, wanted power accuracy (a sleeper) 110m spring , razor hope up etc,). BUT THE GEL BALLS ARE 80% exploding. Aka, beast gel balls when firing……… when it works 35m dead straight hard hitting, but what’s the point when most explode !!!!! why is this happening please and what can I do to fix it. I’m happy to pay to send to you to make a video {lol}…………… help snd advise!!!! Warm regards stay safe and healthy 👍🏼👍🏼🇦🇺🇦🇺
In Australia we have a couple of gearboxes that are clear.. not very good for actual building but they do work.. as for a learning experience they are amazing because you can see how everything is working a lot nicer
@@smiley6388 I was told by the guy who sold it that the only problem was a missing spring, but then again after further inspection the piston was also completely stripped. What would even cause that? I also checked out my other AK's piston and it's fine after about 10k rounds
@@smiley6388 he said it was the trigger spring, but I still feel tension on the trigger so idk what he means Thanks for the help, I'll figure it out eventually
Sounds a little noisy. I've had really good luck with the small shims they seem to kind of fit inside the bearing a little bit better and then I've got high speed bearings and when I get it it sounds like it's gliding on butter.
