She wasn't. She had a good heart and was a good person but she wanted to punish Michael for rebelling against what he had learned in school. She literally told him just because George George Washington owned slaves doesn't mean he wasn't a good person because a lot of people owned slaves. She made him for bad about being pro black.

I remember my Grandfather talking about his father disciplining him. He said that his father would be calm and take time and explain what he had done wrong, give the spanking and then all back to normal.

Wow!!! Good point. Faxts!!!! The show lost steam when Amos was let go... They tried all kinds of stuff to keep the show afloat including Flo remarrying and the new husband disappearing and never spoken of again. Never the same without Amos.

I liked and laughed at the moment when James kept hesitating from beginning the spanking while Michael was accepting it and going all in by just lying down across James' lap, James saying "Hey, dont rush me" and "What is your hurry?!!". This shows me while knowing he had to do it, (that is until he found out why Michael was failing his history class), James really wasnt looking forward to spanking his son.

@@KtotheG Yes I agree with you there. I liked the Cosby Show until they started making Cliff Huxtable a buffoon and the male bashing got to be too much. The Last Barbecue for instance when Denise and Sondra (egged on by their mother) where making a big deal about there being strippers at Martin's bachelor party (which Denise said he should have one). If I had been Martin, I would have gotten an annulment after that nonsense. The last straw was that episode where the men were pregnant. Less than five minutes into that, I changed the channel and and never watched the show again. Sorry for the rant.
