Good To Great - Make The Decision (new series introduction)

We all get competitive to some degree and while many of us get good, very few of us actually make the promise to ourselves to try to be great.
Personally I've never been a champion in a game or gone pro. I get questioned on it at times, but I just don't have that interest. My interest is in mastering life.
This is what my mind is on every day. I am analyzing every thought, every action, every event. How can I get better? What did I miss? Where should I go next? Who is living better?
I never wanted the pressure of holding myself accountable to the point where I had to really live at my best. I've been good for many years, but now? I want to see how good I can get.
This is an introduction video for what I'll be focusing on while I push myself to that next level. I may succeed, I may fail, it doesn't matter though, as long as I make the decision and push myself, without making excuses for thinking or acting in a detrimental unchampion-like way, then that's all I can ask.
So how about you? Want to see what you're really capable of doing?
Check out the Quake Pro League too! It's awesome to watch. It's live every Sunday, Twitch and RU-vid / quake

Taking care of oneself doesn’t end with the self, it’s also the self’s environment, which I didn’t get from this. I really liked the word “decision“ but decision isn’t limited on the self but it should take into account changing the individual’s environment if that is what’s necessary for success.

The question is, how much are you willing to sacrifice.
@everennui1
@everennui1 3 года назад
What could both hold you back and be a sacrifice? I don't think that's the right mindset. Eating healthy doesn't sacrifice sugar, eating healthy is a gift. Not trying, negativity, doubt... those are the sacrifices. When you don't take care of yourself, you become your own sacrifice.

I used to think like you, But Never sacrifice for something you are not passionate about. We are not machine's. You will never recover from the damage you inflict to yourself. Finding the right way to live, that makes you happy, is far more difficult then anything you could sacrifice. We are all constantly changing who we are. Doing what is necessary to be happy in 10 years is a death sentence to the majority. What ever path you choose, MUST make you happy *before* the end result is achieved.

This so important, people should really think about this, before pushing themselves hard. They should also take into consideration if they could (or at least learn to) enjoy the journey. If not, it is probably not their way...and there is nothing wrong with that.

Hello, I don't know anything about you the only thing i know is that you are way more knowledgeable and experienced in life than i am and that is only natural since im fourteen. My dream is to be a Valorant Pro Player but im still quite far from reaching that goal however I am determined to do it because playing that game is one of the things that makes me happy and competing with my friends and other humans is a way to test myself. Anyway, I saw someone recommending your How to Get Good series on Reddit and i watched it all. Although there were somethings i didn't understand quite well it really helped me a lot, not just in Valorant but in my life itself. I realized a lot of things that before had never crossed my mind. All in all what i really wanted to do was thank you for motivating be to pursue my goals and for teaching me a lot of things in life even though i don't know much about you. Thanks a lot, Rocket Jump Ninja

Must be very stressful living by trying to become someone you are not yet, or trying to maintain or afraid to loose something you apparently already have... Conceptualising live, believing you have answers for everything and rejecting things as they are including yourself, the closest formula for frustration & suffering.

The internet has taught me that greatness is too much work. Performance that used to be in the top 10% ten years ago is average nowadays. At least, that is my experience. Trying to be "great" nowadays feels like having to dedicate your whole existence to competing in a 100m race for a very fleeting advantage of a few milliseconds. It's pretty disheartening TBH, because I used to derive much of my satisfaction in life from being better than most people at my favorite game, but that becomes less and less...fun.
@4gloat
@4gloat 3 года назад
I guess the important thing is to find things you love doing so that it doesn't feel like work. You don't have to specialize in one discipline and be the greatest in the world to live a happy and fulfilled life. I too miss the old days of gaming though, no better feeling than crushing egos :) Luckily you can apply the same principles that you learned to new things and the metaphors are helpful.

You shouldn't be advocating for healthy eating 7 days per week with no "cheat days". nobody has that level of self restraint even professional body builders have cheat days. It's about moderation and if you feel like you can't go out and enjoy yourself, even if your body is in peak physical conidtion your mental health can get affected. I appreciate you're trying to do this for a good cause or maybe even to motivate yourself, but you have a big impact here and i'm not sure you have done enough research or have the best experience to be preaching this? or maybe i'm wrong but this is just how i feel! i'd appreciate a response because i'm curious how you feel about this argument.

@@RocketJumpNinja I would like to ask you this then. Why are overwatch league professionals, the best players in their chosen game having career spans of two years? is it because they drink alcohol? because they eat mcdonalds? because they get a tummy ache? I don't think so. I would find this series much more entertaining if you spoke with real esports psychologists and learn what they do to keep their players mentally healthy. Because thats what it's about - mental health. I honestly think your video is encouraging dangerous behaviour I would really enjoy this series if you conducted serious research, quoting scientific studies, asking people who have done formal education about this topic so you can have a more informed opinion and give out better information.
@RocketJumpNinja
@RocketJumpNinja 3 года назад
I agree that would be cool speaking with coaches and all that, but then you add these little bits like "dangerous behaviour" and then I think you're just over reacting to nothing.
