I do have a couple of the admok m800s. They're decent quality for the price ($50 US) & can't go wrong with Schmidt nibs (have not had great luck with Bock). I also have a few Pelikans both vintage & new, but can't bring myself to pay the major $ for the m800 or m1000, especially now that Pelikan has done away with the ink window. I have a range of pens in different prices & something like this has its place, especially for traveling or something like that where it wouldn't be the end of the world if something happened to it as opposed to the 'real deal' which would be a HUGE loss.

I bought both those Pelikans before they raised the price and did away with the Ink window. They're miles better than Montblanc, though MB nibs are still competitive. However, today I would buy them used as I did with my MBs.

I really don't like that they supplied a gold coloured nib when the body has silver trim, but I do like they have lots of different options.

Strong concur! Rabbit with a long blade nib here, and it's not just a great writer... It's got doodles of stars, and a rabbit with a tiny ladder who wants to climb up to them! Adorable, beautiful, great writer, pretty affordable!

My partner managed to lose the M805 Ocean Swirl I bought her - maybe the Admok might work as a replacement that won't be so distressing if/when it goes astray...

I bought also the Admok M800 with a fine Schmidt nib. I wanted to buy it with a Bock nib (after seeing Dougs video) but was not available any more, but the Schmidt Nib is very good. I bought also the Asvine P20 (both in galaxy) but I like the Admok form more. Unfortunately there are no Admoks with silver plating (mine is gold plated) they will be available (acc. to the seller) in around 1 month. Then I will buy another Admok. Of course the Pelikan is better but to me not 800 euros worth.

1. Asvine P20 is not a copy of the Momento Zero, it IS the ASC Studio. 2. I got the Admok with a Bock nib and I replaced it with a Bock 23k platinum nib - now it writes like a Pelikan! 😊

The Ingenuity part is that since they imitate the super expensive pen, they can be the most expensive of all the imitations. Imo, the nahvalur schuylkill is ~10dollars less, its not an imitation and writes beautifully. if you want cheaper, moonman m800 and asvine p20 are fantastic. That said, I really like one of the coloured admoks m800. not for 70dollars though. Lastly, that Pelikan nib... is mostly why I want a pelikan m800. And nothing from China comes close.

Another fine video sir. Thank you! Even my "untuned"spare Schmidt nibs blow every Bock nib I have out of the water. From kaweco to tibaldi and pinidier every single Bock nib out of the box had to be tuned off not modified to write at all. I'm content with Schmidt being less known, more nibs for me 😁

I own several Levenger fountain pens and they have Schmidt nibs. I love how they write. I have a Pelikan M800 and I also have two of the Asvine P20s. They are good writers. The Asvine nibs are better than the Bock you can get, IMO. I don't have this one. Not sure if I'll get it.

Great video. The big thing about Pelikans is their quality of build and their superb nibs. Far better than a standard Bock, or Schmidt. The Pelikan piston filling mechanism is metal (unlike the flimsy plastic mechanism in the Montblancs) and the plastic is high quality natural acrylic. Having said that the luminescence of this Admoc seems quite stunning, going from your video. I have the Pelikan 805 Blue Dunes on my desk right now. That is the pen the Admok is is knocking off. This plastic seems to be a great mimic of that. Impressively so. The Blue dunes Acrylic is incredibly luminescent. This seems to be so too. The Pelikan has a nice total pen weight of 34g - 10grams heavier than the Admoc. The Pelikan is 23g without cap as oppose to this at 14.3g which is rather light. I've not held an Admok in my hand, but I am sure your right about the feel and build quality difference. My final thought is that if we all buy cheap Chinese knock offs, then there will come a time when that is all that will be available. Perhaps better to hunt down an original second hand. Nothing here is critical of your video which is excellent in my book. Big thanks.

There will always be a market for high end pens as people who can afford them wouldn't stoop to buying a knockoff.. I don't think knockoffs are a threat to their core market.

@@helenmcdonnell2585 Your opinion sounds reasonable, but only sales analysis by those companies affected will show it one way or another. Certainly the impact of Chinese Parker knock offs had sufficient impact that Parker employed two investigators and a security team for them in China, tracking down knock off factories and getting the Police to close the factories down. It takes about five years to design a fountain pen and then someone does a copy of it in a few weeks. For me that is unethical. The Indian manufacturers simply designed almost from scratch and they make some wonderful pens.

As for the name, here in China, it is called ADMOK J800 or 简800. At least I haven't heard ADMOK publicly label it "M805" or "M800".

You had some interesting observations on the Admok DB. I had been debating on getting one, but have held off so far. I did acquire a new brown striated Pelikan M800 for under $500 that I've been enjoying. So now I don't feel an urgent need to get an Admok. I did, however, order a Wing Sung 630!

Interesting but I think I’ll keep collecting,playing with my different versions of Monteverde’s Regatta. They work well with stub nibs and Diamine’s Jack Frost(Ink Vent) inks. Nice sheen.

Hi DB interesting video. To be honest the Admok M805 is not one for me. I wonder if there are decent original options out there for that kind of money. I hadn’t realised that the Pelikan M805 is now so expensive. Fit a decent gold nib option to the Admok (probably not worth it) and you’d then be competing on a more realistic basis. Great video and thank you.

Pelikan makes pens that don't cost nearly as much as a new M1000. They've made pens for a long time, just got three more and paid next to nothing for them, new, from a regular dealer. You just have to look. There are earlier models that look like metal but are well-painted plastic, write well, and are inexpensive. You have to look.

I have the Admok M800 with the Schmidt nib. It is an excellent pen, especially for the price. I don't think the upcharge for Bock nib is worth it. Great comparison. I may just get another with a different resin.

hey this has nothing to do with the video, but I have a question. I'm not sure, but I am interested in someday maybe getting an asvine pen (depends on funds, and how things happen), but I am, to an extent, deterred from the idea because of the burs on their piston/vacuum nob's threads. Do you know of a good easy way to remove those burs so the plastic won't be torn up?

So, here’s simple fyi about the the Asvine P20. I have two, they’re both beautiful. It one came out of the box with a filler so broken that I have to syringe the ink into the body (it’s not supposed to be able to do that, but, through pure spite, I prevailed). The other one works well enough. I also have a Moonman M800c which I like more.

Problem may be that you choose a color and they send you what they want. There are nice pen color pictures... and then you cannot choose the color on the choosing options! Like a clearer milky blue.

I personally love all the Chinese knockoff pens. Sure, it's bad if they're poor quality, but most of the time they're decent to great quality, which means if youre buying the "real" pen, you're paying a premium for the brand name.

You’re not just “paying for the brand” you paying the actual owner of the design … the creator of the pen … for their labor and creativity. These are assets stolen by the Chinese knock off companies. It’s called counterfeiting and it’s a shame that people are in anyway supporting these thieves.

A beautiful pen . With all of the color options and how the caps are somewhat interchangeable I was hoping that your video would have included a possible nib swap with the pelikan nib into the admok m805 barrel if this is possible I would certainly entertain the idea of purchasing one if not many admoks.

I will never pay more than 10us for a alieespress pen, I have more than 10 year of goods manufacturing in plastic and metal. I know tha real cost of all his products. I am not against the copies but is disgusting that they are overpriced

No pens from China for this gal, no matter how cost effective. I did receive my PSP/Lotus/Conway Stewart collab pen today, and it's gorgeous in my opinion. It's a CS Special Limited Edition with a YoWo Medium No. 6 Nib. I have to work today, so I will ink it up tomorrow, probably with KWZ Honey, but maybe DeAtramentis Turquoise Green. Both colors match the pen nicely. Purchased from Peyton Street Pens, Made by Lotus in India, with the body made by Conway Stewart, and the Top and bottom finials and section made of Alumilite by Peyton Street Pens. Quite an amalgamation with lovely results as far as I am concerned. This pen is one of a total of 19 in this colorway that were made in 2023. This pen has a mature, sophisticated look to it, one more suited to my age (mid 60's). Worth checking out I think!

What can one say? It is just another Chinese rip-off of someone else's product. There is no way that any Western company can sue for copyright infringement in a dictatorship state like China, so they get away with it. It is shameful, especially when you think of how much time and money is spent on perfecting the design and performance of high-quality products like the Pelikan M805. Also, there is the question of the jobs of Pelikan staff and craftsmen (and women) being undercut by these dubious business practices. If they really wanted to beat the West at its own game, the Chinese would invest their own money in producing something as attractive and unique as this pen and then try to make perform better. I don't buy Chinese fountain pens.

At 70 dollars you don't expect the pen not to come preinstulled with bubbles? Weird. There are countless other pens at this price point or way cheaper for that matter that one could get which are incomparable with this knockoff rip-off sh!t which copy-past the whole idea of the legendary pelikan M line and parasitically feeds itself upon the legacy Pelikan has built over the decades. Pathetic.
