And some stupid people say balisong was copied to french folding knife. Balisong was invented 800 while french folding knife was invented year 1600-1700's
His thumb is black because "subungual hematoma” if you have bleeding under a fingernail or toenail. It usually happens if the nail gets crushed in an injury. It can cause symptoms such as intense pain and throbbing as blood collects under the nail. Unless you also have broken bones or damage to the nail bed and/or surrounding tissues, this injury usually isn’t worrisome. Causes These injuries can happen easily. Butterfly knives are illegal in denmark, so whenever im in countries like spain, thailand etc.. i buy a few balisongs and just screw em' apart and put them in the suitcase. I mean, then its not a knife? As long as the blade is less than 7 centimeters. :D
My 11th birthday my friend (he sadly left my school) he got me a tiny training butterfly knife I was amazed! I was spending days playing with it and watching videos of how to be a "pro" with it apparently my mom got in touched with mom after he left my school and showed me how much Ed I loved. Well on my 12th birthday (I'm still 12) he sent me a 140$ brushed gold butterfly knife man do I miss him... Edit: this was 3 years ago and i am now almost 15 and barely even remember that kid or the butterfly knife at this point, i got a lot of hate for my comment but seeing the replies 3 years later on a comment i don’t even remember is truly funny
As a Balisong Trickster, I can't stress enough. Kids, if you're new, you dont actually need a Trainer Knife. HOWEVER, please wear gloves. Some tricks require the back of the blade to collide with your hand. Its not sharp (If you're gripping the Saftey Handle), and doesnt hurt. But with shorter or cheaper balisong's (which are great to start out with) may have a curved point, or just a short point. And when you're starting out, even learning the basic opening flip, the point can hit or scratch your hand. So the best thing to do when starting out is to WEAR GLOVES.
0:14 Was so weird, I heard the sound of keys and it made me get out of my seat to see if something was knocked down in my house, turns out i was the video lol
i remember when i saw my first balisong in a movie and said i want one of those. the movie was Big Trouble in Little China. years later i got a couple of cheap ones i ordered online. and a couple of them from a fair i went to. and hes on point with the less things on it the better it will be.
I bought a cheap practice one for AUD$10 (USD~$7) and the construction is really nice, the bolts are sturdy, the latch is spring loaded and it looks rly pretty☺
I have this knife the same exact thing iv had it for 2 years and it’s been through hell and back and it lived it has served me super well if you plan on buying this for a first, YES!! Definitely worth it
The black one is a pretty good one, I was surpriced myself aswell. These days its getting pretty hard to find decent ones....when I was a kid, you could buy these at the local fishermanstore :)
You appreciate The Shabazz. That right there convinced me to subscribe before even seeing the entire video. After watching the rest of the video, I can say you've kept my subscription.
Bought one of those chinese 42 knockoffs. The pivot screws become loose quickly but otherwise it flips fine and cuts well. Even the spring latch works well
strawbana theres something called a powerful magnet. use it to turn the screws. you can also drill a small hole that would apply preassure to the sides of the screws for extra screwing force
I bought my first Balisong about two days ago and i got the same problem you had with the second one. I started practicing some basic openings and closings and the screw from the bite handle started to fall off. And the thing is i can't tighten it, if i tighten it too much it won't open smoothly, but if don't do it it unscrews itself every time i open the blade, right now i had to resort to glue the screw in place, it seems like it worked but the handle is a little tight. But i can work with that.
I know this video went up a while ago, but I have had that black knife for 22 years. I bought it in Estes Park, CO. The design has barely changed over the years. Mine has grown a little loose, but it's still kickin.
I had one similar to the black one for $10 as my first knife just to have one and mess with but it didn’t last very long. It didn’t have spacers so the blade wiggled and the handles spread apart at the pins after a little while the more I used it. The pins for the blade and the pin for the latch all came out. My brother bought one too but with a different pattern on it and his had one spacer on each handle and the same thing started to happen so we used pliers to keep the handles straight for the pins to stay in place and eventually one of the handles broke in half.
The black one you have I literally got the same one from a farmers market nearby my house and I’m going back after losing it 7 months ago. Iv been looking for that company for ages. Same box and all. I had chrome handles but still. It was surprising sharp for find it at a farmers market.
man, I'm glad Texas lifted all blade bans. But with knowing that, I'm afraid of all the kids wanting to be cool will buy these and will end up hurting themselves and/or others because shit quality from places like knife guys and the flea markets..
GeorgeFormanIsMyDad well it's entirely their and their parents responsibility. If they want to chop their fingers, let them. lol just stay away from these fools and all will be fine. To be honest i'd hate to see a group of kids just walk around flicking knives. not only that would look threatening but partially sick. in a negative way.
Tomb ShotZ it's probably the idea behind it in general if you learned how to flip the comb you will know how to flip the knife and Hollywood has trained people to believe balisongs are only for gangsters and thugs they're probably just trying to protect you even if they don't actually understand what is going on
Show her a dang picture of the two so she can tell the difference. If you convince her to get you that, then maybe you can prove you are good enough to not cut yourself on a real one!
Ayy, I got a cheaper one as a gift that actually has the blade rivetted to the handles. At first I really thought it's gonna be shitty and fly apart in a few flips but it has held up great. The rivets have "stretched out" naturally over time flipping and now the rivets are quite loose in the holes, flipping it is an absolute bliss. The fact that the handles have so much give makes it way easier to gain a lot of momentum sideways and makes some tricks real easy, the knife just flows in my hands.
I have a training knife exactly like the silver one (except it's black, but that's not important) and when i got it, it was ridiculously stiff... I tried loosening the pivots a little, that didnt help, so i ended up just grinding them smooth by moving the handles back in forth a whole bunch. On top of that, the two pins above and below the pivots squished, so now the handles are closer together when closed so the latch no longer works.
Kalieb Combs same I have 6 katanas 3 butterfly knives and 4 throwing knives... But... 2 of my katanas are wooden trainers, all of my butterfly knives are trainers... and I'm not aloud to touch my REAL katanas or throwing knives until I get older... so I don't really have any..........
I have 2 trainers. One like the silver one, but black, and one with blue handles and its an obvious trainer. The blue one is higher quality, but heaver and hurts my knuckles. The black one is worse quality, but its a lot lighter and is easier on the knuckles.
So I bought one similar to the silver one (the crappy one) and after a while, it started to loosen up so I could do tricks with it without it catching on itself
I'm pretty sure I had that exact model of black one, it looks identical and was also made in China. Handle broke after a bit. Was fun, but seemed to be made out of some real junk pot metal.
I picked up a balisong from a local general store. It was twenty bucks and it's lasted over a year so far with very minimal damage to it. I use it all the time, it's basically my fidget spinner.
Jonathan Thompson I just scrolled through their website so that's honestly the only experience I have but they seem to be constructed like this silver one I have here a lot of small parts and they may not be constructed to the high standards so I wouldn't recommend for heavy flipping but for casual flipping tune it as needed and Loctite all of the screws should be okay for collecting heck yeah whatever makes you happy is the shit
Mine actually came really stiff, so I used pellgun oil and worked it through the pivots and loosened them just a hair. I'm quite happy with my Raptor Claw that I got for ~$20. s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/44/c7/e3/44c7e33d0bd84149df6a240939cf7b4f.jpg
@lugermonger you should scoop up a couple of icetek trainers or other brands and do a review. The damascus trainer they make is pretty solid actually. for like $12 its pretty "heavy duty"
I had an Icetek from WalMart On-Line. I had it for about 2 months. It had screws that tightened and could be loosened to give it more play. The knife was only about $12.00 and was Made In China and started to get quite rickety. The sides (wings) started coming off after I had dropped it a couple times and were not easy to tighten back up. Obviously, it isn't a great quality knife, but, it was good to learn with---cut the shit outta myself, but, it was my first Balisong.
Go on dh Gate and pick up a few u will be surprised u can find ones that aren't rip offs for like 10-20$ and there nice those ones are like 5$ on there it's worth a look for ya
Brandon Fischer quality knives for 5-20 bucks? lmao pal if u really want a knife with good quality that isnt a china knockoff just save some money and buy a real brand.
for someone who doesn't know how to flip open a butterfly knife, what cheapish knife would you recommend to buy, blunt, and practice with? or is there ones designed for practice im unaware of?
I stabbed a guy with a cheap one once. it went through his leather belt, through his jeans and sunk about 2 inches into his hip. don't underestimate the cheap ones. lol
Bruhh I was at a shop like 2 days ago and they had a balisong, i wanted to try it out and when i opened it i cut myself IT WAS A FECKING DOUBLE BLADED BALISONG
So did your thumb heal well? Getting bit is no fun. I do have a butterfly comb that came in the same sort of box and has the same handle color and all. The quality is great and if you take good care of it it should last like a knife or comb should.
Crazy Bad Flipping so what, 800? 1000 dollars for a good balisong? lol my £16 lasted 6 months already. im sure a 300 or 400 dollar one would last decades.
Kids are just interested in them because of CSGO and Team Fortress. I own several actual blades myself (in addition to too many pocket knives), but I won't dare do any aerial tricks on anything but a trainer, way too easy for something to go wrong. I personally can't justify dropping $200+ on a knife, especially with living expenses fresh out of college, so I make do with some cheaper blades.
MidnightPhantasm to be honest arials work 95% of the time if you know how to do them right. if you are scared of dropping it, flip it over a carpet, couch or bed, duh
I have the same model he showed in this video (the one that isn't the 42 ripoff). I've had it for three years and it still flips like the day I got it. If I could justify dropping the $200 on a benchmade I would though.
Started flipping w a shitty china bali and as of right now I am flipping the kershaw lucha and am in love. I have dinged it dropped it and it has taken a few beatings. I've had the lucha for about a month now and I haven't had to loosen it or tighten it. Came ready right out the box and I think it is one of the best balisongs ever
The black 1 for 11 bucks is better. U can hammer the pins to tighten it up and mushroom them so they lock and it is a really good knife. Although I took the pins out and stuck my 1095 steel blade in it and put new pins in
Had a similar one to that cheek black one there. One of the holes in the handle (don’t know the actual term) and it just cracked all of the way through it.
if you have the same problem as the silver balisong that doesnt spin, just unscrew the bottom thing that holds it closed, i did that and the problem got fixed
Oh god, the silver boxed one... I bought one that came in that box, but it was more of a "solid" handle (basically no holes). All the handle screws broke within a week.
Those cheap butterflys are nice an all but i remember buying one in florida and it was really cool to me at least , also before i start im a complete beginner at this stuff but i do know alot of tricks to do with them but anyways i had bought the knife at florida and had it for a week and the right handle completely broke off . It was pretty sad tbh but yea Good knives..Until they break after a week , Still looking for a good 30$ and up knife but yea good content man keep it up
The black one (too lazy to find the name) has a vital flaw. All those holes make it VERY week in the handle. The force of using it on a normal basis causes the holes to crack around the edge, eventually snapping
I'm on the fence about getting a "higher end" one, I love knives, but it's really hard to justify spending a few hundred bucks on a single knife. I do have 3 that are so cheap that most balisong dorks won't even look at them lol. I have like a 40 dollar benchmark, USA made with the black pitted texture and round / oval hole combo handles. it's pretty heavy but flips great, especially after having it for years. I have two 20 dollar no names, one is classic silver with 7 round holes on each side (in my opinion the best looking out of any design) and an identical one with the heat treated rainbow finish. All are brass pin and solid handle construction. I may shoot for something slightly over the 100 dollar range. I always thought of those bells and whistles as more to go wrong, but I'm no champion flipper either so idk. At this point I should just take the leap for something semi respectable to see what the fuss is about
I have a training one, it’s kind of thick but it works so good, and the blade is like 2mm thick you can’t sharpen it. I recommend something like this to all beginners.
