I developed a nervous system disorder 5 years ago. I used to be very active outside and lost that ability. I found you and adapted your ideas to build aquaponics systems in the mudroom off our garage. My life has been nothing but pain and fatigue since I developed this. You got me through the worst parts of my life. The knowledge and lessons I learned from you helped to distract me from the hell I was going through. You truly saved my life. I'll forever appreciate it. Please leave your aquaponics stuff up so my kids can learn from it as well. They're getting into their teenage years now. God bless and take care.
@@nickkrug8157 Small Fiber Neuropathy (SFN). I've had just about every test done, even full genome testing, and the many specialists I've seen can't determine the cause. My C-fiber nerves are dying throughout my body. There isn't much that can be done. These nerves are dying in my skin, muscles, and organs.
Please don't take your videos down! I use your content as reference material for my research. I like listening to you. Best of luck in your future endeavors.
It's more like he does not want to leave you astray. He knows, his videos are still getting attention even though they are misinformation from his point of perspective.
I grew up watching you. Being a nerdy black girl I literally lived on your videos throughout highschool, convinced my mom to let me make a hydroponic system in the back yard using your system. Your impact is HUGE man like omg. Cant belive I got this notification on my youtube. Its like seeing family lol.
I got into aquaponics because of you. Thank you for inspiring me into aquaponics,it been something positive in my life with my son, we spent more time together. Good luck with everything and be safe out there.
Best of luck to you!! Luck is when Opportunity meets Preparedness. Please leave the channel up because you have done a great job of teaching. No sense in taking away all of the wisdom you have gained.
You’re a wonderful person, and a great intellect, constantly striving for perfection. I’ve been watching you from the beginning, I hope you will share your new projects with us, so we can all continue the very positive relationship we have have with you. Much love
What I learned from my experience in aquaponics and growing in general.. "As long as there are days, seedtime and harvest shall remain". TMH is found in HIS process. I think you know what I mean. Shalom.
What kept me from aquaponics for 20 years or so was the fear of failing because it seems so complicated. I'm so glad I came across sandponics. IAVS sandponics is so simple there's no filters needed the sand bed is a filter. The ph is perfectly stable. Typically there are no nutrient deficiencies. Sandponics is balanced vs aquaponics is a balancing act. Good luck with all your future endeavors. If you ever get the itch again try iavs it's everything you were searching for.
@@drzero1563 I'm familiar with someone speculating that was the cause of their fish's death. I don't think there's been any proven cases and there's many systems operating all throughout the Middle East well over 5 years with no issues.
@@farmerjhemp Murray Hallam and his team tried sand based media beds for number of years and they were having fish losses regularly. After many tests they found out fishes were being killed due to silica poisoning hence they didn’t continue the pilot project. Maybe, you have different filter mechanisms perhaps you can enlighten us with regard to sand based media bed n your way of filtration. I have never built sand media bed based Aquaponics but I would love to build future farms if indeed silica poisoning doesn’t kill fishes. I have been designing & building Aquaponics commercial farms for 7 years now and sand based media bed will help us a lot if we can stop silica poisoning.
@@drzero1563 I'm familiar with that Murray project but I don't think they ever tested for silica poisoning. I'm fairly certain it was just an assumption that silica killed the fish. I could be wrong but I don't think I am. My aquaponics has a channel on here they've been operating their sandponics system over 5 years with no issues. My aquaponics describes sandponics as aquaponics on steroids. Another commercial Farm I'm familiar with is Kewa Egypt. They also started with aquaponics several years ago and have since switched the mostly iavs because they say it's Superior. I understand your hesitation with Murray being an authority and his system not working for whatever reasons. You can always start with a small trial that's completely decoupled from your main system. I don't think silica killed Murray's fish and I only say this because there's at this point there's dozens if not hundreds of systems across the world that have been operating for multiple years without issues. My experience is somewhat limited. My system has only been operating less than a year but I've been educating about sandponics for a few years. There is no additional filtration needed. The waste will completely break down in the furrow. A solid waste filter could be used to collect the solids mineralized and then add back. It's hard for me to recommend doing something like this because it hasn't been tested at scale as far as I'm aware. Somewhat recently I started using jadam ferments on my sandbeds and have been seeing very good plant responses.
@@farmerjhemp thanks for details. I am not part of his professional team but he has my utmost respect and gratitude for Aquaponics. When I have asked he said it was silica poisoning. I will give it go at my lab. Wondering with so many commercials contracts on hand would I be able to do a proper pilot or not.
Been hoping to hear from you again!!!! Glad to hear you are growing. Keep us posted with the new things in your life because you are an inspiration to many. Thank you for everything you have shared with us. Please leave your aquaponic content available to us all. It is a gift. Thank you again.
You have been a cornerstone of both my RU-vid consumption and my aspirations for merging my love of technology, gardening, and fish keeping together. Thank you so much for the closure video, for you, Brooklyn St Mickell, and all that you've done. May your next adventure be even better than the last. WOOOOOOOO!!!!
thank you for this video and for being honest to us after working so hard in aquaponics. your an inspiration to me. your words of being truthful to oneself to keep moving higher in life are pure drops of wisdom. I would have a hard time accepting those words from anyone else if I couldn't witness them having the same level of dedication as you.
Shalom. I thought my eyes had deceived me when RU-vid suggested a video like less than 20 minutes ago (I had to watch first prior to commenting). I know had binged watch last month several your videos and wondered where are you. Is he still alive. To click and see this was a new video I was excited and flabbergasted that it was really you after no videos for a few years. Nevertheless, your ambiguous video left me very perplexed as I don't know what the other side means, etc. So, you new project or something that you will be sharing on here or what? Well, you might not respond, but it was definitely a blessing seeing you bro. I hope all is well with you and your Las Vegas family. Hope to hear from. You again even if it's another 2 to 4 years. Thanks too for sharing some never seen before footage and your story. 💪🏿💁🏾♂️
I appreciate you showing us your journey! I'm hoping before you totally leave aquaponics behind that you write a book, or package your final plans for your system so that those of us that are still in it can learn from your refinement process that you were on while you were gone. I wish you all the best on your next chapter!!
I remember, during Covid, binge watching this channel over and over fascinated with the concept of aquaponics. Now its a major hobby I enjoy doing and talking about. This channel changed my life!
Thank you for all you have done! Thank you for even giving us glimpses of your life and you’ve given us more than we could hope for! Follow your instincts even when it’s hard because you’re right the cost of growth is sacrifice so kudos to you on continuing to learn
I’m so proud of you, you’ve help me out in many ways. Live your life accordingly as you’re being directed too. Congratulations 🎊 on your marriage. Again, I’m so proud of you 👏🏾
It always works out for me. Asè. Thank you King for coming on youtube to speak to us. You have fulfilled your purpose in aquaponics, what a blessing to be able to recognize the “graduation” Thank you for all the things you have shared with us over the years, very useful stuff! We are grateful! 🙏🏾 Wishing you & your family much success in whatever path you take next 🙌🏾🤍
Thank you for everything! It's been amazing to learn a lot from you. Without a doubt, I know you've been an inspiration to many. Blessings on your new path. Woooo!!
Thanks for taking the time to make this update. I ended up getting interested in aquaponics on the way to discovering I have a passion for urban homesteading, permaculture, and agrofroestry. I'm looking forward to your next venture and I hope to be a part of the next community you make moves in and contribute to. Please make a video here to promote your new channel or venture, I'm sure many others feel the same. Best of luck on your journey, Brooklyn!
Never be afraid to step outside the box you are in. Change is always good. Always remember, as one chapter in your life comes to an end another chapter is about to unfold.. The adventure is destined to continue. Good luck with all your chapters in life. Thanks for all your lessons.
Gonna miss you, your videos were good entertaining, smart , world class you motivated me to start my own aquaponics system going to upgrade this next year! Keep growing keep learning I wish you the best of luck and know we will always be here for you too eagerly awaiting the next video love you man!
Thank you for documenting your experiments! You’re helping advance knowledge in the field. The end goal was producing food, glad to see that you were able to accomplish that with your wife. My path is similar to yours. I look at problems from an engineering perspective first, but I realize more that other characteristics are sometimes the right tool for the job. In farming, I feel like determination and a joy in challenges are ultimately the key. Thank you, sir! Please share your new website/channel/blog/etc so we can continue to follow your story.
Did somewhat of a similar journey myself, recognize myself in your story a lot. Now I'm back in school... How know what the "voice" will guide you. You gotta do what you gotta do. Hope too see you around
Though I have been only an intermittent viewer, I am so blessed by this video and your journey! I can relate, as I've experienced a similar journey in my engineering pursuits, and I know well that Voice within, and I empathize...I can stand on Julian of Norwich's assertion, "All will be well!" Abundant blessings, as you step into the "higher level," Sir! 🥰
Learning for the sake of learning is never a wasted effort. The hardest thing sometimes can just be learning how to learn. It sounds like you learned a lot of hard lessons, and in sharing them with the world you elevated your efforts from personal discovery to science, and in publishing your hard learned lessons you spare others. As someone who doesn't do aquaponics but found the concept interesting I caught your last couple of videos as you posted them before going dark. I wanted to share a thank you on this for the enlightenment you brought. Best of luck in your future endeavors, giving up a passion project is never easy ✌
Thank you for everything! Your videos helped me tremendously getting my commercial system running. After 3 years running I plan on rebuilding it this offseason to incorporate a second fish tank and more dwc bed space. We will keep the flame going! Good luck with your next adventure. Saura Creek Farm
I appreciated your aquaponics lessons. A lot of my learning was watching your ups and downs with each process. By watching the complexity grow with your builds it became clear to me, when I chose my set up, it will be much simplier using a man made pond with fish next to my orchard and greenhouse and sharing that way. Thanks for your knowledge in this area.
Thank you for all you've done. May you be blessed in your next path in life. Stay strong to yourself, and with a good life partner to help keep a controlled focus, all will work out.
❤ to you. Thank you for all that you shared with me! Not only did you learn about yourself, you taught many others about aquaponics! Blessings to what comes next for you.
We define our own destiny..May God bless you in your next endeavor of life..I am indebted and so grateful to you for inspiring me to venture in that very challenging high tech farming "Aquaponics"..It help me also a lot to maintain the positivity of life during those covid days because i was so busy doing Aquapinics..Many thanks
I'm just another stranger on these comments sections, and yeah sometimes live happened and a man gotta do what a man gotta do. So, I just wanna say thank you for all the videos and dedication that you've have done! And It's good to at least see that you are still okay and keep on going Good luck and God Bless
Got this video on my recommended feed. First time watching any of your videos. Looks like a great channel. Thank you for all your hard work look forward to learning from you.
I've been missing you. It's sad to see you go, but I'm so glad to hear that you are doing well. I saw where you were hit by a hurricane and another was on the way when you quit. As for anything technical, there is a simplicity that works, but can always be improved, be it aquaponics, electronics, woodworking and more. Often I find that in spite of a possible improvement, keeping some of the "drudgery" is more efficient. In the case of aquariums, like aquaponics, I find it is kind of like chasing the perpetual motion machine -- getting the perfect biosphere. I've been doing aquariums all my life, since 16YO. Instead of chasing that perfect aquarium, I discovered certain "bisquit head" tricks that give me my ideal aquarium with minimum maintenance. I clean my external filter once or twice a year at most, and that's the extent of my water changes as well. Once every few years, I may clean and replace some of the gravel. A few plants, a few fish and feed once a day and my tank always looks great. But, no really serious aquarists will ever agree with my method. But, it works. I've watched many different aquaponics videos. No other videos compare to the scientific knowledge and expertise you teach! I used to chuckle and call you conceited calling yourself a "god". Now I laugh at the fact I did, LOL... I have not seen anyone in your league! I saw you quickly move from small systems to professional farm sized systems, which is where you left me. I'm just a hobbyist working in a small corner of a room in my home. The trick to the small system, and possibly to the larger one, is keeping the system mechanically clean while keeping a bio balance that feeds both the plants and fish. This is where I find most of the "simple" turn to "complex". This is where I saw your systems grow from simple to complex as well. Automating the clean fish tanks and bacteria balance is easy. Once I introduce plants, it gets dirty, really fast, and keeping the aquarium clean and bacteria/chemicals for plants and fish balanced, is where things get complicated. I find the cleaning process affecting the nitrogen cycle. I would love to have picked your brain for ideas. I really appreciate everything you shared. It has been wonderful learning from you. God Bless and do well.
Peace. I know of you from before aquaponics and hold you near and dear. The paths we take lead us to new things. When those forks in the road present themselves, the experiences you had on previous roads lead you to make decisions - whether to failure, or growth. Your steps are guided by the Intrinsic Force that speaks to us - the One that dwells in us and makes intercession through groanings. It is for your sake that this happens. Godspeed.
Man man what a journey. Started my 1st project with your help and the mad science is still on wax for others. “Sometimes you have to give up something at a high level start over and receive something at a higher level” - salute homie
Gracias por todas las enseñanzas, nos llegaste a muchos en todo el mundo y esa siembra queda, ya sera tiempo de cosechar! un abrazo desde la patagonia! mucha suerte con lo que te propongas!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and time with us. I used to watch your videos all the time, stopped doing aquaponics myself but would still check into the channel to see what you were up to. The things you have taught your community will never be forgotten. Good luck in all your future adventures. May you find good health and fortune in the future!
Shalom family, will you be posting any videos of different content? In particular, more videos like the ones you once did on who the true Biblical children of Isreal are? I'm sure you get this question a lot from our community. I know it goes w/o saying but don't allow some wicked camps to shake you faith family. It would be great to have you back in that capacity again. APTTMH!
Hooooo! That's the first time you've left me teary. It's always hard to say good bye, but this is really hard. What can I say? From all the people I've learned acquaponics from, you inspired the most. I think that any community that has people like you is blessed because this is more than just knowledge, or even dreams. It's a calling, and who knows what the significance of this work will be in the future? Our planet needs to create new ways to grow food and you've been on the cutting edge of that research, sharing your thoughts, experiences, and passion consistently. My dream is to build a truly scalable, commercial organic farm that incorporates, fish, plants, and insects and has an output in the millions of tonnes for both protein and vegetable. When I achieve it, and become a big corporation, one of the reasons why I'll continue to contribute to communities such as this one is people like you freely sharing their knowledge and inspiration who helped so many of us find our calling and grow in it. Words can not say how thankful we are as a community. Thank you, wish you the best - I pray God's blessing over you... Don't you go and be a biscuit headed whatever!
I meet you sinse beginning when I was just starting university and you have been a big inspiration for me. Thank you so much and I hope we can still follow you on your new projects. Changes and close cycles is part of life and is really important to mantain the development of our personalities. Congratulations, good luck and thank you thank you so much
I’ve watched so many of his videos on this journey. It was at his recommendation that I read academic papers on the science of aquaponics and aquaculture. I listened to this video 3 times just to take it all in. Thank you so much and all the best in your future endeavors!!!
Watched all your videos. You have a calming voice. You are a great teacher, as real as everyone else. Thank you for your many words of wisdom, and from a small voice on the pacific in Canada 🇨🇦 thanks and God bless you now and in the future. 😢
More power to you, and thanks for your videos. I used a lot of what I learned from you, and appreciate that you took the time to make those videos. Life does change, and you are right to listen to that voice. Perhaps you will always have this knowledge to help others again in the future if need be. Much success to you!
Sr thank you for all the help you have provided me and others. What you taught and the way you communicated was amazing. Sr you are a blessed man no matter what you are going through. I appreciate all the things I learned from you. God bless you and your family
Great to see you growing as well as your activities! I learned a lot from you and your knowledge sharing. I hope that once I exit the rat race I will be able to forge a path as you have. I'll probably focus on merging a small regenerative farm, with an aquaponics portion to provide some fish for the carnivore diet (leaning towards trout). We need to definitely localize our food supplies and cut down on transport costs for out nutrients. Too much focus has been on calories, and we are paying with our lives... literally (corn is GREAT for caloric density, but absolute shit for nutritional benefits for example, and this is coming from a guy who's college education was funded by corn and soybeans!).
I have been enjoying your videos for years and always knew there was something deep there, aside from the great content you've provided. Thank you for your wonderful videos and best of luck in your future endeavors.
I wish you all the best in your future endeavors. You will never know how much your videos helped me in my aquaponics journey. Buy the time I developed an interest, you had been off-line for quite a while and I kept checking, hoping you would pick up where you left, but I guess it wasn't meant to be. I will continue re-watching your videos as needed for info and inspiration....
I definitely understand what you are saying about having to let go of your preconceptions about the future to see the path you were meant to be on. I definitely learned alot from you when I started my journey in agriculture. Though I grow mostly in the dirt these days, the science and engineering I learned from you and others in the community still are part of what my wife and I do today on our small farm. Thank you for the work you put into the channel and all the best to you and your wife.
What an overwhelming video, especially as I just found my notebook with the notes I took from binging your channel years ago to finally implement into my 7 raised beds and dutch buckets. As a student of yours who got interested in growing through your lessons, i'm disappointed i'll never see your final completed build to hold as an ideal to work towards. Similarly, I wish we could have some insight into what your future project is, and how that influenced your decision to move on from aquaponics. What are you moving on to? I understand what you mean about making big decisions and that conscious voice guiding you, but very confused how that voice explained the need to move on from aquaponics, especially as you just reached what would seem like the peak of efficiency and development. IDK just seems like the master returned to tell us goodbye. Nonetheless, Forever grateful to you, your teachings, your work, this channel, and the growth it inspired in me to garden and learn aquaponics.
This has to be implemented on a massive Industrial scale to be affordable. This is a great video and I applaud your efforts. This video will help many people. Great effort man! I'm glad I found your channel today and your last video. I can't wait to learn from your struggles.
Blessings on this new journey; you have inspired so many people and encouraged peoples to feed themselves through sustainable aquaponics systems. You’re an incredible and diligent person, success will follow you anywhere you go. Thank you for everything you have shared with us and expanding our possibilities. Abundance and peace your way 🙏🏽🤎🪶🌟
