This is part 1 of a 2 part series about our transit of the famous panama canal, in our previously hurricane damaged lagoon 450 catamaran. We leave shelter bay early in the morning, pick up the canal advisor, and set off into the first chambers, and into the Gate Lake!
SV Parlay is a hurricane damaged Lagoon 450 catamaran, which Colin rebuilt with friends and has started sailing around the world. They found bulkhead damage on their catamaran in Panama, so have fixed her up, and are almost ready to cross the Pacific Ocean!!

At 15- years old, I was definitely fortunate and blessed, to have crossed through the Panama Canal with my family. We originally crossed while on passage to the Caribbean and months later, returned back to the Pacific, on our passage home to Australia. What an absolutely amazing experience! What an incredible feat of engineering. Cheers from Western OZ 🇦🇺 .

Here's my humble advice: shop for it NOW, don't wait for your retirement. It will give you time to fix it (if you buy used) and make it to your taste, before retiring. I waited too long and now can't work on mine due to health issues... Now for sale, half done. 😖 Fair winds Don !

Puma's can jump incredible heights when they don't have a human their trying to get over a fence ! I just checked and they can jump 18 feet vertically ! I've had them jump over fences with full grown sheep in their teeth ! 10:41 You need to do more of this ! You'll love the PACIFIC. Delos is here somewhere. I wish they would come up on 7.192 ham radio ! You guys also, (anyone who needs help emergencies or priorities can come up there). Lower Side Band. We are on in the AM 14:30Z with Weather ! I've got boat a boat I'm helping in French Polynesia !

It is an awesome feeling making Locks. I did it through the ICW between Baton Rouge and Houston for 6yrs working on tugboats pushing barges. So I understand the feeling Collin has. and due to health reasons I'll only experience the Panama Canal through videos like this. May the wind always be at your back and the sun upon your face.

Thanks for this video. Loved it. I've transited the canal west to east back in 1984. And I was stationed in the Panama 1987 to 1990. Peacock bass fishing in lake Gatun was fantastic.

Have transited the canal on a cruise ship, it was so tight we could reach out from deck and touch the lock walls. It is amazing. Can’t imagine what it was like on your boat where YOU were making it happen through each lock!😊

@@david_shih No sir, just a few hours. We did both directions in one day but arrived in a monsoon. I was watching Linton Bay on the GPS the whole time and I waved! You waved back, right? And now, I want to see it from your vantage point! (I was watching your livestream)
