I went to a Dixie Chicks Concert in DC when Bush ll was President and Maines had said she was ashamed he was from Texas. Right before the show started, the crowd started rumbling and pointing. It was President Bush coming in and sitting down. He said, later, that he liked their music, and that they were entitled to their opinion. Maines welcomed him and said she hopes he enjoys the show. I wish we went back to being civil with those that we disagree with, instead of vilifying them.
I’ll take Things That Never Happened for $1000 Alex. I mean why blatantly lie? You’re not just passing along a story you’re saying you were physically there. At a thing that never ever happened. Bush did say something similar in an interview but he never went to their show.
Exactly, I did not agree with the political policies the Bush administration made. But, George W was always a civilized kind man and I believe his intentions were for good as opposed to the current GOP.
Everyone’s morning Toby Keith but he was one of the main people intricle in their downfall and never once apologized to them even when they received death threats!
I always knew Taylor was tall, but OH MY GAWDS Natalie is TINY!!! She's so cute but fierce right up there next to Taylor on that stage! And is like a proud momma performing with her kid doing justice to her song!
As a father of a daughter, and a fan of great music this really made me cry. I can't imagine how happy Taylor Swift was here performing one of her favorite songs with an idol of hers, and it must feel great from Natalie Maines' point of view to be so publicly celebrated and honored by the top pop star of the age. The Dixie Chicks never deserved the treatment they got for speaking out against President G.W. Bush and the pointless wars of Iraq+Afghanistan. Two decades later, the chicks were right and the naysayers were wrong.
My favorite about that era, the people that loved the Dixie Chicks were pirating their music. The people that were upset with them were buying their music to destroy the albums.
Looks like you would know where to find one. As soon as I saw this comment I literally laughed so hard and had to share it out loud which was also a ripple effect of laughter. 😂 The simple fact this was YEARS ago and you got the case of the BIG FEELS over this enough to say such a snotty weird outdated predictable attempt of belittling someone is just absolutely telling of excatly how lonely you really are PS not crying is embarrassing @francopasta3704
the way Taylor talks to her audience is like they are an individual and her friends...she just holds them in the palm of her hand.... an incredible talent all by itself
Because she is genuine. I'm not a Country fan particularly but I think Taylor's roots in Country music gave her a special relationship with her audiences which she has kept to this day. And we Swifties love her all the more for that.
She does have a knack. Reba & Pink are the best that I have seen. Taylor's shows are not quite to that level. Went to a Reba concert with another couple. Had lawn seats way in the back. The other hubby did not like Reba, did not like country music, and did not want to go. Afterwards he wanted us to fly to Dallas to see her show again. One of the best concerts he had ever been to he said. Reba was that good. Love to see Taylor turn it up a notch.
My granddaughter performed in her first talent show in the 2nd grade. Would love this song but wondering if the school had an issue with it? She didn't have any problems? I am asking before I ask if she could perform it this year?
@@rebeccamoreno5094 I mean….if you live in the country, it’s probably fine. If not, then no, a public school isn’t going to let a child sing about domestic violence that leads to a homicide and body disposal 🤣🤣🤣
The Chicks got screwed because of the time. If they said what they said today, nobody would even care. "I'm Not Ready to Make Nice was a hell of a response though!!!
I'd flip the traiterous bitch off. In the years since she has shown no remorse instead showing contempt for any the even remotely questions her actions in Europe.
This song is not about murder, it’s about self defense. The only decided, “Earl had to die,” after he attempted to murder her, (put her in intensive care!). They knew he would never stop trying to murder her, and no one else was doing anything to protect her. Why wasn’t Earl in prison for his abuse, let alone his attempt to murder her? This song only scares the hell out of men who are afraid to be poisoned by women they beat-up, abuse…and force to cook for them. Everyone else LOVES this song!
my very close friends mom introduced me this song while we were in the car and im glad she did because its so good. also taylor is so talented and im happy the chicks inspired her to make her incredible music
Im 63 years old. I've seen most all of the best Rock bands live from Edgar Winter and ,.J Giels Band December 15, 1975 to Kiss and ZZ Top in 2000 . But this the first time I've seen or heard Taylor Swift. April 17 2024. RU-vid. She's as beautiful and talented as advertised.
I absolutely loved the Dixie Chicks when they first came out. Their songs were so brand new and relevant to the day. They changed the Garona a bit. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THEM COME BACK. especially in this political climate we have toady. Thank you Taylor for bringing them back again.
Taylor, you are AWESOME!! For having a member by one of the best country acts from the 90's. Just cause Little boy Bush got his panties in a twist when someone spoke honestly about how they felt about him. She was brave, and once one feels comfortable being honest, hopefully, others follow in suit. People in the entertainment industry shouldn't be puppets... I take my hat off to the lead singer of the "Dixie Chicks"
I know, she sounds so good with a country accent!! What do you think of Fearless and Red (Taylor's Version)? She also had some country-style songs on Folklore and Evermore too, I hope you liked them!
I have always loved Goodbye Earl. I still find it to be a funny song. Natalie Mains’ voice is unbelievable. I’m proud of her for what she said and she wasn’t speaking for everybody but she was speaking for me and I’m not even from Texas. I loved how Taylor made sure to politely tell them that these artists are there for them without telling them to be nice or whatever and the audience went for it and welcomed Natalie without any boos or heckling.
The way my kid sister, my mama, And I... the 3 C's (Caitlin, Christine, and Cherie) BEEEELTED OUT to this song is UNNNNFUCKINGREAL!! Lil sis n I even did the booty slap. This song was such an anthem for me bc I watched my mama go through abusive relationship to abusive relationship and goddamned if I didn't find myself in one. Thank goddess it was never as bad as Wanda went through but that's the thing. It becomes easier to dismiss when it's more psychological and mental than physical, isn't it? To the women (and men) out there living it, I hope and pray you find the strength to get out before they take you out... Plus or minus a few black-eyed peas....
@John Paul Jones Jealous much?? she still has a career. What do you have? So just sit down & shut up because we don't need to listen to an Internet troll that actually has no talent whatsoever!! 🙄💯
I'm a late convert to the glory that is Taylor! But if you've heard Natalie Maines sing in person you've never heard such a gorgeous voice in your life. It'll blow your socks off and bring you tears on it's merit alone. This isn't Taylor's own song and it is Natalie's. Taylor might be the biggest singer in the world but she doesn't hold a candle to Natalie, as displayed here. If only she wasn't so uncomfortable on Taylor's turf, if only her outfit matched her spunk. Wish I'd been there to see that!
Ya'll are right, I don't know of anything so dumb, as the, shit, that Dixie Chicks were made to suffer, the Pres, I can't even begin to tell you what happened, he was a good/bad guy, we were going backwards to most of our "allies" as was the case of the burning buildings, ya'll know how many people were, excuse me, how many people died, excuse me, I'm RAMBLIN, I need a little mędįcàtīōn adjustment, jűs sāyīn !😎✌️😎!
I saw the DC’s for this tour at the United Center. The whole concert was amazing but the place buzzed during this song. The whole place just sang it. Fun memory.
Personally I’d love to see Pink sing with my garbage man, she’s so talented she can sing with anyone But there are the great ones she’s paired with like Eminem and Kelly. Pink and Natalie?? Now THAT could be Epic!
Didn't expect it, I'll admit- have to give Taylor Swift congrats on her holding her own vocally with Natalie on that Chicks song. Not better (nor equal BUT she did belong on stage with Natalie singing some fine harmony and some of the leads). Way to go- Taylor!
I was pleasantly surprised by Tailor. The Chicks are my favorite, and I kinda expected her to do the backing vocals like Emily and Martie. Her voice is actually a good fit for this song. So happy this video got recommended to me!!
I remember when this song first came out and thinking it was kinda funny, although about a very serious subject, and just a really catchy tune. Never did I imagine that I'd be sitting up all night trying to figure out how to leave my bf Earle after he did the same thing as the jerk in this song. I hope I'm strong enough to leave. 😢
I loved their music then and now. I'll always refer to them as the Dixie Chicks. You don't have to like it. As far as "where they are now?" It's their thing and I don't have to like that. Music people, music. They've always rocked!!
This was a long time ago. Natalie spoke her mind. The reaction by so many “patriots”, should have warned us that very bad things and times were coming. I watched a Phil episode about freedom of speech vs not showing our troops anything but support. He was really trying to get high ranking service members to say it does more harm to vilify them in any way while they are stationed overseas and keep your negative comments to yourself. Not one would go against freedom of speech. 100% committed to what they signed up to defend, regardless of who they offend. Anyone destroying Dixie Chicks cd’s and speaking against them should’ve been ashamed. These “patriots”were wrong in waving the flag in support of their actions. Natalie was the only one who deserved to wave the American flag, she was exercising a right given to her as an American. Acting out against her and the constitution was the anti American chapter of that whole story. When their first song, after all that, was “Not Ready to Make Nice” I was fist pumping and cheering!! I’m so glad they’re finally really back.
