The yellowtail redbelly fusilier (or ikan tauhu) is the key ingredient for making tasty fishballs. But overfishing and poaching in Indonesian waters have dampened supply and raised prices. It's one reason why fishballs in Singapore now cost 30% more than 10 years ago.
Would you pay more for your favourite yellowtail fishballs, or settle for those made from a cheaper - and less tasty - kind of fish?

I would pay for expensive fishballs as long as it comes from a regulated, organic, fair-workplace restaurant to ensure what I'm eating has a good amount of fish in it & less artificial, potentially unhealthy by-products typically used for mass consumption.

that's why we as an indonesian always fight illegal fishing! We need to sink those illegal fisher boat, so that our sea ecosystem could be saved from those irresponsible illegal fisher. Pls help us by stop illegal fishing + support our ministry of marine to sink those illegal fishing boat. 👍👍👍

Here in my location we have Dodo Fishballs. IDK if it is healthy or not but it is good. It has the bite and I would finish 1 pack in one seating. I try not to. I always buy in couple of packs cos I can only find it in 1 grocery store.

Salmon is $30-40 per kilo, yellowtail $10 per kilo. Who is complaining fish ball expensive?!

Meaningless report, USA fishermen have also illegally overfished salmon for years, raised salmon prices and many other examples of other fish products, it’s nothing bad about the fishball. Fishball is just a harmless product.

well, isnt that the truth. Because people need to eat. Hence the overfishing. Also because the fish are always hunted, they migrate to other waters. Often, neighbouring waters. Not saying that you are wrong. But this is the reality.
