Not sure if the sound change is coming across on the video as well as it does when you try them in your room. Have you heard these in your room? How did they sound?

I can hear the difference. Even with my iPhone headphones.... The bass sounds a lot tighter and together ON. Very obvious, to the point I thought it was the music itself but you can hear the kick has more body in the low end overall. Now all a brother needs is two thousand british pounds!

@@artificialisland2442 I think when he says you don't get cancelation at 3:32 that also means that sonarworks would not have give a massive eq boost where a 'null' would appear. Therefore Sonarworks will color the sound less.? I have the same question btw haha

Hello Streaky, a real valid test would be some measurements using REW for instance. Cheers, Jean-Pierre B. Acoustic Designer
@FoxVK

It will just prove it is nonsense... Someone please correct me. This is just speaker moving its membrane at the same speed as air in front of membrane. So it affect only affect only very near space . In this case the only reasonable place is to put it right behind my head it could simulate opened window behind me. If the speed of membrane is different. It generates another sound traveling through space and the result is it just moved noisy and quiet places to different places in the room. Well using this I could create limited space for my head where bass is good but to have 1 cubic meter big area I must generate waves like at least 4m long so it means i will work from frequencies below 86Hz.

They aren't treating the Axial room modes, which are the biggest problem. Putting low frequency absorption in the corners is a fool's errand. Axial modes are between 2 parallel surfaces NOT 2 parallel corners. There are other better ways to treat Axial modes, the only problem is it is more expensive, and you need big, heavy boxes of diaphragmatic absorption, but the results are staggering….

Nice Review thanks! But to expensive for me as Amateur. I am actually happy now with the low end in my room, i positioned the monitors at were i heard the standing waves, alligned the Sub and dont hear them anymore hahahaha. Actually good bass response and all the way down to 25 hz in a small room. If i had the money having the avaa’s is much easier! Cheers.

@@DJURBANBG I’m in a 25m room and I’m trying a pair right now. I can tell you that also only one does a great job, at least in my room. With two obviously it gets even better but not twice so much, if this makes sense. So I’m planing to buy one and maybe later a second one. Its not night and day but you can clearly feel that the low end feels more even and clear. I’ve placed a spl meter in a corner and I’ve measured the amount of sound pressure this AVAA’s are able to cut off. In my room almost 10dbc less spl with AVAA engaged.

Mixing monitors tend to be near-field. Mastering ones are mid/far field. Mixing speakers tend to accentuate the mid range, mastering speakers are always full range and usually passive.

Well these do peak my interest, but as you said about bass traps. they need to be 1/4 the length of the frequency which is up to 70 feet long, or 21-22 meters so unless you have unlimited real estate that's not an option. But Helmholtz resonators are only about 7" thick and contain 6.5lb/ft squared rigid corning fiberglass insulation, and I designed a set that can be instantly changed for different spaces or say when you have 30 people in the studio and things change. And they are great for getting rid of 90 degree angles too and you can make them yourself. That's for other poverty stricken engineers/ musicians recording at home. All thanks to the R&D of the BBC and Alton Everest. Just an option for us poor folks, but I'd love to open these up and look inside!
@MusicGearNuts
@MusicGearNuts 4 года назад
How did you work out the specific frequency? As in, what size and thickness of the sheet to make?
@Oneness100
@Oneness100 2 года назад
I would go for diaphragmatic absorption and put them along the walls if you can't build them into the walls and ceilings.. Diaphragmatic are more efficient because they aren't tuned to only one frequency like the Helmholtz resonators. Helmholtz just is more of a hassle and the size depends on the frequency you are going after, and you need a LOT of them to get enough coverage.. I'd go with Diaphragmatic. WAY more effective on a per sq ft basis. you can get build plans to make diaphragmatic absorption cabinets at Acoustic Fields and you can use whatever fill material you want. This is just another option.. Most rooms have a range of or many frequencies which is why Helmholtz aren't necessarily the best solution.

@Oneness100
@Oneness100 2 года назад
@@C--A Actually, I have talked with others that have installed home theater systems, that have compared sub woofers on the floor vs raised up and they ABSOLUTELY agree that it sounds better raised up off the floor. It's not how the sub woofer mfg's market their products, but that doesn't mean anything. I don't have a home theater setup right now, so I don't have the ability to test it, otherwise I'd run my own tests. You should try it and run some measurements and see how much difference there is.
@Oneness100
@Oneness100 2 года назад
I visited a couple of his rooms and one room he had subs raised off the floor and it sounded just fine. It was VERY well integrated so it was very smooth, unlike many rooms I've been in where the sub wasn't well integrated to the rest of the system. He has measured the differences, so it's been verified. You should try it before you knock it.

Kii, Eikon, Geithain or Dutch & Dutch speakers create cardiod bass dispersion patterns (through dsp or less effectively via passive techniques) which avoid the necessity for these fancy active bass traps. One day all highend speakers will be cardiods. Until then, old tech will speakers will continue droning and room booming away and trapping bandaids will continue being praised as attempts to solve a problem that can now be avoided in the first place. Same old same old ancient tech speakers (unchanged since speakers the dawn of audio) with their uncontrolled omni bass dispersion patterns are so yesterday. No matter how much you tart them up with distracting fancy cabs and no matter how many active or passive bass traps one slaps on, one is trying to bolt the door after the horse has already bolted. Better to prevent cancer than try to cure it. Question your jamming old tech Focals into corners regardless of how much trapping is stuffed back there. All old tech speakers (except corner horns or infinite baffle built into walls) have to be set well away from the side and front walls to try to reduce (but never solve) room boom.

@@lrama6999 I rest my case: "Of course they [speakers with cardioid bass dispersion] have a tighter low end than traditional speakers." The amount of bass bouncing around the room is reduced at source, rather than trying to catch it afterwards with bass traps.

@MitsurgyS
@MitsurgyS 3 года назад
No! not at all. here's my understanding of it. Everyone's room's change the frequency response of the sound being played by the monitors. So instead of flat spectrum: Lows --------------- Highs It can actually be more like: --^--v---^---v-----^-----v That device in the video is configurable, so, as long as you know your room and what you need to flaten, you can target your problem(s), resulting in a more realistic mixing/mastering process. Plus it is amazing that you can ajust the target frequency, this product is futuristic. TLDR: ANY song in the market will sound bad in some rooms, but, the more realistic the mix/master was, in terms of what the engenieer heard, the better the result will be, granted that the engenieer is making the right changes during his work.
