Streaky is one of Europe's leading mastering engineers. With over 25 years of experience in the music industry, he shares his unique perspectives on mixing and mastering in his videos.
Streaky operates out of his own studio, Streaky Studios. His clientele varies from Hip Hop artists like Skepta, Krept & Konan, and Wiley to Rock/Pop legends such as Mabel, Sigala, Paul Weller, Depeche Mode, Kasabian, and Adele.
Starting his musical journey as an Acid house DJ, Streaky used to remix for The Stone Roses, Groove Armada, and many more using his Atari. In the early 90's, he channeled his passion for music into becoming a mastering engineer.
Streaky utilises a combination of plugins and high-end analogue equipment to maintain a feel and musicality often lost in current digital processing. This approach has earned him a reputation for creating a sound that transcends the commercial norm.
"Vocal trick they ALL use" Well thank you for telling me what I shouldn't use then. I definitely don't want my vocal track sounding like every other song out there. The industry has had enough "standards". It's time for people to start thinking outside the box. I'll go first... then you can all copy what I do 😂
Yes its' a good reverb but literally everyone uses it. No wonder so much music sounds alike these days. Same with everyone using Fabfilter stuff. Considering that making music is supposed to be creative it's odd how everyone chooses exactly the same tools.
If you click on where it says presets, which is at DEFAULT to begin with, then click to "Save as" that should open the location. Certainly does for me anyway
Isn't it better to leave it at 100% wet and do the mixing via the send controls? I always thought if you do it like this AND also use a send this might produce phase issues.
Looking forward to watching this, I've never really got on with vintageverb tbh, uad lexicon is my baby Thanks for the breakdown streaky, gonna have another play with it
Brilliant just what i needed as i have this reverb but needed a preset pack for vocals, Also Streaky, do you have any tutorials on how to use these vocal reverbs when you need to compress/gate them using big reverbs so they don't spill all over the place ? btw is the doggo the real manager ? lol
I am using > 5000 Euro hardware reverbs. Will you still be able to master my songs? Of course I don't want you to mix my songs with a few VST plugins when I produced the stuff with 100,000 Euros on analogue.
Your video title does not fit the content. That annoying tbh. there no "perfect reverb" they all use anyway. and btw, sitze and attack are much more important than pre delay in this case and can dramatically change the impression of the position. and also, reverb must work in the whole context of a mix. this video shows nothing but "hey i opened valhalla vintage verb and look how it sounds!!!". who is your audience? like amateurs who started mixing yesterday? if so, ok, nothing wrong with that. but the description of your videos portrait to me that you are actually giving away value, which is not the case. it's just basic info that even chat gpt whould give anywone because it is so basic.
You can tweak a reverb for hours, or you can use the presets from Streaky and instead spend your time being creative and making music. That’s why I like this channel. Do you think a reverb will make or break an artist? (Just curious, I’m not a pro.)
@@erikolsen1686 you are right, it's not going anywhere to tweak any plugin for literally hours. I'm just saying that you actually don't learn anything here regarding the important parameters like size and attack, which tremendously alters the dimensional experience of the reverb. I mean, I watched an 8 hours in depth reverb masterclass. I'm probably not the target audience here. And also, using presets is perfectly fine!
