Yes, This episode is without a doubt my favorite, I cried a lot with Viren's death, he was finally recognizing his mistakes and I wanted him to live a life as a good person 😭
After I watched it for second time I think its my favourite alongside finale episode of this season and finale of S3. These three episodes are all close on top for me.
I may be bad for this, but Avizandum had it coming. You heard how Rex Igneos talked about him. Plus finnagrin said he would kill Domina. Both dragons threatened humans basically, only one of them died. Yeah, they were past the border, but Avizandum punished them so brutally.
@@Apollo87889 Imo, I think what avizandum did was justified tbh. Like it was literally a law between the Xadia and the Human kingdoms that they werent allowed past the border. Plus, when they went past, they killed one of the inhabitants there, whod done nothing wrong and didnt deserve it. Avizandum was just to take one of their lives in return.
@@Gellevision He did it to revenge for the titan, which is fair. I could be for both sides. He had it coming, since it was for the people’s food. And, they had it coming, cause they crossed the border. So your opinion is valid I love how the only person that didn’t want to kill the titan, ended up dying in the end.
And Viren basically always justified his actions in some form with that line. But now it IS the truth, unfortunately😢. (I never thought I would be sad that Viren died)
@@likecat7886Honestly It just shows that Viren, Soren and Claudia are the BEST, interesting and tragic characters in the show. Never thought I’d end up crying so much over Viren’s death, and Soren himself willing to sacrifice his heart to save the people of Katolis, But Viren’s final atonement using his own heart the Very Spell he used to turn the human army into rage filled monsters is now what saves his Son and the remaining lives of Katolis.
Reminds me of what Aaravos said in the first trailer and was said by the Merciful One; "We are all of us, stardust. Held together by love...for an instant." He always fought for and tried to protect his family, but until "Moment of Truth" he was also seen like a monster
in the end... Viren died a hero. Surrounded by death, and destruction, he sacrificed his life to make sure that the others escaped. His death an honorable one after a life of dishonor.
Viren yelling "I am a servant" as he died was so emotional and heartbreaking because it shows that he finally admitted that he is no different from any other person. Ok but Rayla finding out she had to choose between her 3 parents to bring back killed me 😭😭
Viren’s sacrifice was so powerful. First of all, who else worried for a moment that he had actually cut out Soren’s heart? But also, the fact that in his final moments, his thoughts were filled with visions for his family. And his final words are him calling himself a servant to Katolis, like what Harrow said in season 1. He literally gave his heart to save his son and his people. If that isn’t a powerful end to his story, I don’t know what is.
@@ReelJames9.7 out of 10. It was even better the second time watching it. I think the first time just made me so stressed, my heart rate was everywhere.
The attention to detail with the Quasar diamonds is a lovely touch, if you saw in Ep.5 when Rayla reached out to take the Corona of the Heavens only the outer two Gems had a gleam move over them where as the fake one didn't.
Literally cried when Viren did dark magic for the last time sacrificing his own life to save the remaining people of Katolis. I never thought seeing season 1-3 that Viren would have a redemption ark. Really well written and heartbreaking! 💔
When I heard that line in the dungeon, I semi-rage quit. I was like „No, no its not happening. Not him (Soren)". Than after about half an hour I watched the episode and proceeded to still cry from the outcome. (Okay cry might be a little exaggerated, but I wasn't prepared for the outcome.)
Y'all should be more worry about if Soren become a villain after everything that happens and if the people of Katolis will ever trust the brothers or the sun elves or any elf every again and go to war especially after everything that happen
Im surprised no one is talking about how Viren cast the spell by speaking it normally. We see him try to cast it with the backward chant like he did before. But on the 5th chant he faulters. I wonder if "Dark Magic" is more like soul magic, and if cast with love and self-sacrifice, it can be wielded like primal magic.
This episode was just one guy punch after another. The redemption of Viren finally completed as he rediscovered himself as a Father and a server to the kingdom was fitting as he finally became the hero he previously tried to frame himself as. I couldn't even watch the replay without crying. We knew Aaravos would be released at one point, but the fact that he used Viren 's death as an emotional gaslight tactic made it that much harder to stomach. Unbelievably great writing this episode.
Viren’s death made me cry. The fact he was thinking of his wife and family thinking about what he could’ve done differently wishing he could go back and keep his family together. The love he shows for his children realizing how much he pushed them away. The love he had for his wife thinking back to we’re they were just young adults falling in love for the first time. And how old he is now and how many years ago that was. And The fact he wasn’t thinking about how everything fell apart. About the bad times and the heartbreaks or himself. But Finding peace in what he used to have. A loving Wife and 2 children that he’d do anything for. A best friend. And that itself is heartbreaking. You can see the regret he has in his eyes when he starts crying. His mind taking him back as if he could wake up and it was all a bad dream.. And his final words “I am a servant” showing the love he still has for his now broken family and his kingdom despite all the evil he’s done.. and That’s why He’s one of my favorite characters in the show. Much like Anakin he destroyed his own family in an attempt to save it. But in the end he did something good and sacrificed himself for the people he loves. I hope we one day see The mother come back to give some closure to Her children. And maybe a funeral for Viren and Maybe his family won’t stay broken. It will never be the same as it was. But Can be healed with time.
I like to think that, to top of Verin's self-admittance to being the monster everyone says he is, his final thoughts were him realizing the pain he's caused _with_ his dark magic. This is how it feels to be used as a part in one of those spells, to have your entire life reduced to being an ingredient, and most if not all of the creatures he's killed didn't even have the boon of knowing whether or not they were dying for a worthy cause or for a shortcut to something that could have been achieved in less violent ways. Good cause or not, it would be a dehumanizing experience.
I mean I don’t think Claudia is really in her right mind here. She’s been having a breakdown this whole season, and not been that confident in dark magic. Then she sees her dad’s mangled body, after she had made him her only purpose. Now Aaravos is offering Claudia a new purpose, and I think she just takes it because what else is there to do
Not to mention, she saw the staff Viren used and could deduced he DID dark magic (which, true, he did, but not in the way you would imagine). So she took it as her dad showing her to continue on the dark magic path, which is EXACTLY the opposite Viren would want now. 😞
I just got a notification about an announcement of The Dragon Prince: It has been announced that The Dragon Prince is supposed to have 10 seasons, but they will end the series with season 7 if the fans don't show enough support 😞 Anyway, amazing video James!
Honestly It just shows that Viren, Soren and Claudia are the BEST, interesting and tragic characters in the show. Never thought I’d end up crying so much over Viren’s death, and Soren himself willing to sacrifice his heart to save the people of Katolis, But Viren’s final atonement using his own heart the Very Spell he used to turn the human army into rage filled monsters is now what saves his Son and the remaining lives of Katolis.
when i tell you i’ve never cried this much while watching something, i’m not even joking. i was SOBBING. full on. the sketches while viren was dying killed me
I’m 90% sure the reason everyone isn’t the monstrous fireproof things that the previous spell produced is because it wasn’t done with the casters own heart, therefore not self sacrificial and “human” when this time it could be considered done much more humanely
Viren’s last stand has officially become my new favorite part of TDP. Also, notice how the camera shots mirror the death of Ziard, the first dark mage. Both him and Viren died trying to save innocent people. Pure poetry.
Sol Regem deserved this humiliating death. His despicable attitude caused the death of the innocent Leola and eventually brought all of problems related to Aaravos. In fact, Aaravos was merciful with him.
I think this is the best and most important episode of the entire series because it shows how much character development Viren has had from using dark magic to save his skin and do everything to refusing to do it and sacrificing himself for his son.
I, was TERRIFIED when I saw Viren walking out with a bloody dagger. I thought he actually murdered HIS own son. If they had killed Soren, I would have actually cried. 😭
Im going to cry so hard... in the middle of the part of Virens sacrifice.. my mother asked me if i could pause cause she wanted to ask something.. Like seriously!! Why that moment!?😭😭
THIS EPISODE WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! i LOVED it! the music and animation were on fire in this episode Virens death.. oh my goodness… it was so well done and emotional I can’t believe they did this to Katolis
Another reason why Aaravos manipulated Sol Regem into doing 9/11 on Katolis is because the kingdom's royal family starting from the Orphan Queen imprisoned him, so this was also personal to him.
I noticed something during a rewatch of S6 that I didn't catch on the initial watch. The real Quasar Diamonds shine in the light while the fake one doesn't. It's a very clever detail that subtly reveals one's a fake, but is still quite easily missed on the first watch. Well played, TDP crew. Well played.
Sleeping Beauty Once upon a time, there was a boy who turned evil every time he slept. It was because he was a mage, and had done dark magic a few too many times, and his dad basically ruined his life by telling an imprisoned startouched elf that he just wanted his son to be an artist. Unfortunately, when the boy’s mother got remarried to the king of Katolis, the boy’s fate was set in stone. He discovered the arcanum of one source after another. The real trouble emerged when he did dark magic for the third time. It was just a small spell, putting the giant startouched elf into a tiny coin. His girlfriend, a moonshadow elf, couldn’t bring herself to kill him. And so, she repaired the looking glass and watched him, the new Aaravos. Today, they stand, hands pressed against each other, love reaching through the glass. He will never wake up. The End
Viren’s whole character arc is ABSOLUTELY an amazing example of writing a complex yet unredeemable villain. You could argue that his last act of good by sacrificing himself is redeeming, but I find Viren’s final act is of extremely broken man with innumerable regrets who knows he faces dying in prison at the best case scenario and decides that instead of just wasting away to wallow in his regret he can do at least one good thing in his death. He didn’t really redeem himself but chose to make his death count for good
I definitely DID NOT CRY during this episode and def did not binge the whole season in one night.... Yeah no I definitely cried my soul out ALSO DID Y'ALL REALIZE WHEN THE FROZE BOAT IS BURNING SOME OF THE TEXT IS ERASED BUT ONLY RAY-LLUM IS LEFT😭✨💗 TALK ABOUT THE UNIVERSE GIVING SIGNS😭💗
I have a theories abt s 7 but one good one i have is i think queen Aanya will have Duren repay its debt to Katolis by helping to repair the damage done to the kingdom after the dragon attack
This is my favourite episode of the season overall and it's my new favourite episode of the entire show honestly. The next episode is also amazing and probably makes it to my top 3 though I think breathtaking is still better than that one. But this episode is absolutely perfect Viren's death is my favourite scene in the entire show easily beating out his death last season which was previously in that spot mainly because that scene was about him fully committing to bettering himself in his final moments which this season continue's up to this scene where he doesn't just decide to change he is changed and he knows he has to save all of the people in Katolis not only with the same spell he used on Katolis or at least Katolis' army and with dark magic the thing he used to save his son the first time he was about to die. Then top that off with the scene where Aaravos talks with Sol Regam as he dies and the reveal that he had one of the quazar diamonds and the cliffhanger ending where Claudia's spell to free Aaravos doesn't work along with several other things make this the best episode of the whole show in my opinion.
This episode!! I cried! I actually thought Soren was going to give up his heart. I paused it and cried for like 5 straight minutes because he’s my favorite character. Then I unpaused, saw that he’s alright, and saw Viren die. Teared up a little bit. I always find a favorite quote from Soren in each season. This season it’s “the castle is just a building. We have to save lives” usually it’s a funny quote but this time I chose a serious one.
2:56 Did you see that archi-dragon turning the castle of Katolis into flames like some desolation of Smaug 5h!tty?... Wait, wait, bring it back. I gotta see that again 2:24
I especially love how Viren sacrificed himself to save the realm, as his first mistake in s1 was not wanting to sacrifice himself when the spell he suggested to King Harrow required a human sacrifice. Being to cowardly to do that is what initially made him a villain, and having him die doing it anyway shows his growth in such a poetic way, his story has the perfect bookmark ending
Even though I'm too late, When Viren said that he had to use a human hear, I honestly thought Soren was dead but it was Viren who sacrificed himself! 😢😢💙💙 That scene actually made me cry and Claudia crying hurt me
This episode gave me so much anxiety. I literally panicked, thinking that Soren was now dead. But the fact that Viren did the spell on himself made it better. I hated Viren for such a long time but this one act of sacrifice and willingness to do it for the sake of many lives and his son, moved me. I actually felt sad watching his death. Wonderful episode!
I also have to mention how sad I felt for Rayla. She wanted to save them but now they are minus one quasar diamond. I was processing who she would pick. I choked at this scene too. I couldn't believe it with this episode so much happened in this
This episode had so many intriguing details; Viren's sacrifice, the twist of Aaravos planning everything out centuries in advance, Rayla being forced to choose which soul she'd free from the coins, Lujanne essentially admitting she knew Rayllum was a thing from Book 2, and the manipulation to create a new body which required each Primal Source. When Aaravos made Sol Regem kill Pharos I was shocked as it seemed like he would use every pawn like they were expendable. Admitting to Sol Regem/Anok Arao that it was the Sun King who'd killed Luna Tenebris, but also calling him "old friend" and stating to have manipulated/used Sol Regem for centuries makes this seem so dark. Bringing Claudia into Katolis and seeing her father dead was like Aaravos knew what would push her into doing his bidding, but when he listed the ingredients; Blood (Ocean), Feather (Sky), Root (Earth), Quasar Diamond (Star), Flame (Sun), and Bone (Moon) my mind immediately went to: The Key of Aaravos. The use of each ingredient and it's purpose made this seem like the reasoing behind the Key of Aaravos, to create a new body and stashing a Quasar Diamond on the Staff of Ziard seemed like a master stroke of evil preparation. Being back at the Moon Nexus is nice after so long away, but Lujanne immediately greeting Callum with; "I told you, humans can't do magic" was a nice callback to how she believed Callum couldn't perform magic. The fact she asked Rayla and Callum; "This is a thing again? You two?" almost seems to indicate she knew they were a couple before they even became an official couple in "The Oasis." I've missed Lujanne's snark, but contrasting with both Viren's sacrifice to save Katolis and Aaravos' manipulation of Claudia to create a new body seems almost bittersweet. It felt like a shame to see Viren slowly redeeming himself in mid-Book 4 only to choose self-sacrifice to save Katolis and choosing his love for his family over letting someone else suffer. To die saying; "I am a servant" is both a callback to Book 1 when Harrow challenged him to ask if he'd put himself above anyone else and the fact he'd almost placed his position as High Mage above everyone else. I was shocked when he died, but while the episode continued it was almost like something else would change and he'd throw away the sacrifice.
