Ack! I'm late to the party here, but I feel fortunate to have watched your cooking videos and comments. Thank you for taking the time and effort to document this life transition; a bold move. Looking forward to seeing more of your stuff. You're a blessing

Sorry to hear this. Yours was one of the first videos I watched to learn more about the 1975. Ordered my 1975t in March and just picked it up from WH on November 1st. Arrived home with it a week ago on November 6th. Work and prepping for Hurricane Nicole kept me from doing a burn in until Friday and my first cook was yesterday, 3 large butts and 2 whole chickens for a large gathering. Cook went perfect! Thanks for the videos on this pit and good luck to you and yours in the future!

Thanks Jose. Never thought I'd feel a heaviness from parting ways with a smoker but here I am! Thanks for the well wishes brother!

Oh no…well it pleases me that you’re sad that you’re having to part with your smoker, not because I’m some kind of a-hole, but because it shows you really like that smoker…I ordered a 1975 back in August 2022 and am anticipating delivery May of this year…I can’t wait for mine to arrive! Best of luck wherever you’re going, maybe there’s another workhorse down the line in your future…

Sad for you my man! I just got my 1975 two weeks ago and plan on firing it up next weekend. I haven’t used it yet but already love it! Out of curiosity, did you turn a profit on yours? I had the option get a Franklin offset (finally came up in the que) while I was waiting for my Workhorse and thought about buying it and reselling. I’m up in Napa so I figured it would go quick but wasn’t sure it would be worth the time. As I’m sure you know, the Franklin’s are substantially more expensive than the Workhorse.

What I wanna know. I never understand why it's so taboo to talk about prices and stuff. So strange.

@@thekevinhu Good to hear, and glad your family is well. Weather and travel has prevented me from firing up the 1969 yet, but looks like I’ll be able to do my initial burn in tomorrow, so I’m psyched!

Oh wow I didn't even think about that. It was close, but I was able to spend more time with it than the waiting period.

What size splits did you find worked best for this pit?
@HuSmokin
@HuSmokin Год назад
I remember them being roughly 12-14" in length but it varied depending on the type of wood and how good my coal bed looked. I only used oak and cherry... and cherry splits cooked way too fast so I went with thicker and denser splits.
