The ship looks like a mix of preTNG & Voyager era to me. Maybe it was another prototype developed to fight the Borg (like the Defiant was)?

Pulse phaser cannons on the pylons. On each side of the secondary hull, twin torpedo launchers.

The secondary hull looks like a defiant shape wing nacelle shape except for the deflector. That's a crazy interesting shape there. The only thing I'm not sure how it might look with the bulky forward bits on the nacelles. Almost like a mini-sovereign plasma lantern lol. Depends what it looks like lit up.

Your discussion about the modular secondary hull really got me going. Sounded really interesting.

Love this ship, mega phasers look sweet on the TNG era. You guys make great content, with little or unknown Trek stuff. Keep up the great work.

Looking at it, I get the feeling the secondary hull has an almost "Defiant" shape to it. That's probably where the impulse engines are located, in the "wings" of the shape.

This is a very nice design. This is one of those drawings that would be awesome to have Commander Cockings render even though there is only one view. As always, please continue making it so 🖖

Feels like it could be like a first responder ship. Whatever issue pops up slap on whatever pod is needed and off you go!

Definitely agree with a lot of the other comments that the secondary hill gives me Defiant vibes. Could be an interesting take of some of the ideas involved in multi-vector assault, swap able mission pods, more sophisticated secondary craft like the aeroshuttle, and the Odyssey from Sto which has a detachable “Aquarius class” escort. You could have Defiant esque tactical ship attached, a science version, a fast scout, etc. Stuff like the Defiant or Nova that have limited speed or endurance, this could be a cool way to extend their mission envelope. The design looks like it could be quite cool separated, give the saucer an Akira like deflector bump on the underside.

The thumbnail made me think it could be an evolution of the "pathfinder defiant" concept that would later evolved into the Nova-class in Voyager. Though if you made the saucer more circular and the secondary hull more Ambassador-esque or Excelsior-esque, you could potentially call it a design that fell between those design eras. The nacelles as a mix of Connie refit and Ambassador style nacelles would work there too. And the Ambassador had a number of small phaser strips, so the various small strips present fits in. The NCC-7105 would also point to that era. I could definitely see this as a post-ST6, pre-TNG time frame ship.

Yet another design I am considering implementing into my Trek inspired Space Engineers fleet

It looks like a defiant derived ship plugged in as a separating secondary hull/battle section... makes for an interesting idea that Starfleet would try to make use of an established design as cheap way to give a more conventionally roled ship a separating battle section.

Looks like a long range Nova Class. Just like the Centaur is an updated Miranda using the Excelsior saucer but with longer nacelles, the Goodson Class is an updated Nova with longer nacelles. This is probably what the Equinox needed to return back to the ABQ. Might have a Dorsal Mission Pod for more powerful sensors or a rapid torpedo launchers.

I like the shape smaller and more ready for battle. Like a patrol/battleship for UFP systems

Gotta agree with Sam, looks like refit necelles refitted again. Refit style necelles can be any size you need them to be, the nacelles on the refit enterprise are much larger than the nacelles on a remora escort, but the nacelle design is the same.

This would have been a Good Ship to use in Lower Decks !!!

Really cool design , love the 50s retro style phazers. The engineering section looks small for the large Nacelles , we need more Sam please put a CGI model together. Nacelles are very interesting ,the grilling, oval shape, and odd bulge behind the Bussard collectors.

Looks like the same era as voyager, Prometheus, sovereign, Akira. The angular saucer the dimensionality of the nacelles, well and the shape of the escape pods. Must say as the others have mentioned would love to see this fully realized

'Photonic Cannons' indeed. I envision pulsed energy blasts like what the U.S.S. Cygnus fired at the Palomino in 'The Black Hole'.

I like it very much. Maybe the saucer is a little too small, especally for the secondary hull. The idea of the separated saucer with just the nacelles is also interesting, something of a modern NX or even the start of the design line leading to the Enterprise J. The megaphaser concept is an interesting one, given the fact this would have been part of the anti-borg fleet, so it would make sense to have better firepower.

Honestly to me it could be something like a civilian corprate build starship. Kinda like a Federation surplus build and then modify it to their own needs.

I like it it fits in the fleet pretty well. Though to fit the battle of sector zero zero one anti-borg fleet look it would need a smaller secondary hull - but as a general cruiser it's nice sort of like a fat shangri-la or a little sister to the Ambassador class. You wouldn't generally want such a huge deflector though - unless it's a specialist tool that is part of the ship's mission role.

If the pylons attenuate like on Voyager those phasers on the struts work nicely

To take it further I would make the weapons on the nacelles struts torpedo launchers and the secondary hull a detachable defiant class of ship. Also add more phaser arrays to the saucer section. I can defiantly see this as a mid size Starfleet warship meant for border patrols and fleet actions.

The pylons are definitely raised. This is a cool design, and I personally dislike diamond shaped saucers.

What I get from this is that the lower section remains me of an elongated DS9 Defiant attach to an upper section. I see this has a min/max Striker Ship. Give the ship the most powerful engines. Pack as many weapons and censors you can get Then add some living quarters for the crew and fill it all in with thick armor. Making this the A-10 Warthog in space of the TNG era.

Has anybody thought Mega torpedo pods instead of Mega phasers without me having to read all the comments? LOL What if it was some type of energy pod reminiscent of a Klingon bird of prey type of photon torpedo? Some type of material or pod slides up and gets supercharged by the plasma going to the warp nacelles and then it comes! 20 times stronger than Quantum torpedoes!

Can you reacknout to the artist? Maybe he might be able to flush out the reast of the design.

Looks like the Starfleet ships in Picard.

I Love this ship, Despite the older Nacelle design, it looks like it's new, high tech and fast. like a mid-range hybrid science/patrol ship. I can imagine this thing careening out of warp at full impulse and Jumping some Jem'Hadar bugship point blank with those mega phasers before flying off and going about its business scanning comets or something

I could totally see this as one of the competitor designs to the Defiant class when Star Fleet was choosing which platform would be chosen as their first "warship" (I mean I guess Dreadnoughts don't need to be warships.... that or maybe the Federation class wasn't originally designated a Dreadnought and maybe got a firepower upgraded and re-designated as one as a propaganda move to counter klingon aggression).

Saucer needs to be bigger

The Desing and Ascetic are definitively from the early 24th Century. In this Case a later 24th Refit. Its a cool looking absolut Bad Ass Ship. A Tough little Ship. The Megaphaser are not Megaphaser. They are the Same Pulsephaser Canons like the Miranda Class. But...Cockings has say it...the position is realy bad. This Cannons has an 180 grad firing radius. Maybe with an Special-Firing-Control-program can prevent, that this Beasts are shoot in the Pylons. XD But the Positions are like an old Airfighter. Both Canons are only front aligned. The Warppylons are a Mix of the Constitution refit with a little bit Ambassador. Looks nice. ^^ The Impulseengine is, i think so, under the Saucersection at this Cutout. Or they are is the Hangar Bay. is hard to say from this angle. The Slide in the Bow of the Saucersection is maybe the Observationlounge like the Intrepid Class The Primary Hull is tricky. The Pods an both sides looks like the Warppylons from the Defaint Class. Its possible that are the Torpedo Launcher. Four Tupes on both Sides. Two forward, two backward aligned. The Main deflector can maybe realy splittet but...i don't know...hmm. The Idea that the Primary Hull truly are complete changeable is not bad. The complete Concept looks for me like an smaller fast Attack Ship. The Frankenstein Idea is absolute plausible. The Goodson Class are maybe a mix from two or three different Ships. In the Dominion War need Starfleet a lot of Ships they are fit for Battle. This Ship is it absolutely.
