GOODWATER ALABAMA: Decaying small town 

Enjoyed exploring Goodwater, Alabama with y'all! Nearly a ghost town now, but you can just imagine people walking and shopping on those streets!

My Mom is from Goodwater...I spent many summers here back in the 70s but I was raised in Atlanta. Thanks for sharing....so many memories.

This town was featured pretty heavily in the book "Slavery by Another Name" that I just read. It was a big center of convict leasing back in the day, when they'd arrest black people usually for no reason and then force them to work on nearby farms. I was curious to see what the town was like today, like most of the rural South it seems to not be doing so well.

Although it looks abandoned, lonely, etc… it looks interesting, just thinking how it was in the past🥺♥️

When you load your videos, I always google nearest cities and famous people from the town in the video. Talladega is the nearest city I have driven near on I20. Famous person is Jamario Moon, a professional basketball player who played in the NBA and for the Harlem Globetrotters. Now, your travels and Jamario's have some similarities, he played college basketball at Meridian Community College. I think you were in Meridian a few months ago...

Had a neighbor from Goodwater, his almost all of his high school class moved out of state immediately after graduating.
