The round bakeware Zeb picked up-it's for making "Cake Pops" like a lollipop. You put a stick up inside them when they come out of the oven. Then when they are cool enough to work with, you put the icing on them.
A very close friend of mine volunteered in Long Beach,CA at the Assitance League and now does in Washington..❤ She loves doing it! That cabinet is soo stinkin cute!! I bet it will sell the wood color..though it would be a fun one to paint and flip..glad you set it out in the shop this way. It looks really nice!❤❤
I like that you’re thrifting other places than Goodwill. We have the worst Goodwill closest to our house but I refuse to donate there. They put donations straight into a semi trailer and take them somewhere else. I make my kids drive to Genesis Women’s Shelter much farther away or Salvation Army. If you’ve ever been in a disaster area Salvation Army always feeds people hot meals. When we had terrible storms in Dallas this year, Salvation Army set up meal service at our local recreation center for a week. Goodwill doesn’t do anything for anyone. You had a good haul today. Like the wreath holder. Could tall candlesticks become wreath holders? I wouldn’t paint the little dresser you bought. But that’s just me. I was raised with mahogany or cherry furniture and my uncle had an upholstery shop. Hope you’re enjoying the cooler weather. Finally in the 80’s in Dallas!
My upstate NY thrift stores vary by how small town they are, also if college towns! One of these has two Rescue Reuse stores, very unusual items at great prices! Blessed days!
Those figurines are what my mother and I refer to as dust catchers. You guys did well with some intersecting items. I am looking forward to Saturday night!
The Goodwill in California are so incredibly expensive at least in the Palmdale and Santa Clarita area. For small candlesticks it was 14.99 apiece. As far as I’m concerned, your Goodwill‘s are way cheaper than ours and I would be more than happy to have those prices here.
The cast iron with holes is a vegetable steamer, I think, just boil water underneath it and put on a cover and your vegetables will be ready in a few minutes.
While you were out thrifting "on" Labor Day, I was gardening at my son's house in Lansing, MI! I told him about Odelia being assigned there for her mission. The people he bought his house from were Mormons. Not sure how he aquired that information, but who am I to question?! Hope she still likes it here! Wishing her the best!
Went to goodwill ...did get a new Nike hat and a cute sweatshirt...fall decor was very shabby...did score a big bag of cars and trucks for the grandkids for very little...had a friend who called decor goo gaas...lol
Great haul guys. If you think your prices are expensive you should try here in Australia. Most thrift stores prices are dearer than going and buying new, it’s ridiculous. There are a couple of stores around that keep some good prices and a couple that I’ve been in when I’ve driven through somewhere and called in that have had good prices but it’s hit and miss with charity stores where I am and I refuse to pay new prices for 2nd hand goods that have been donated and it’s just lining someone’s pocket who gets paid plenty in the first place. It makes me a bit angry actually, especially 2hen I know what goes on higher up etc and what goes on with monetary donations. IMO they are just very, very greedy people.
As full as that green wreath was you could've repositioned the leaves throughout. It was nice. I hear a little hoarseness in your voice, but I'm glad you're feeling better. 😊 I'm always looking for wildlife figurines here and they are so hard to find. Never pass on them, especially deer, turkey and geese.
the pewter man on the horse might be buffalo bill cody, something went in his hand. the way it is curved. could be an american flag as part of his wild west circus show
The plate that you bought with the “coat of arms” on it is actually the crest for my college sorority - Kappa Kappa Gamma. It is one of the oldest in America, founded in 1870.
Goodwill stores have doubled their prices at ALL stores. I overheard a conversation between 2 employees who were saying it came from headquarters to increase prices. And so, except for the bins, I no longer shop there. :(
That explains it. It felt like it was over night. We’ll still go to find deals but we may be shopping there less because I’m not paying double. Lucky for us we still have DI
Jami, here in the UK, some of the charity shops now have outrageous prices - sometimes it's cheaper to buy new! Yet they are taking donations, because they are overrun with stuff! Doesn't occur to them to lower the prices and turn over more stock. I've been charity shopping for 50 years and in recent times it's became ludicrous. Many a time now I just put stuff back because it's too expensive, whereas before I would spend my money with them. They are cutting off their noses to spite their faces. What's best - sell one item at £10 or sell 3 or 4 items at £6 - NO BRAINER. Especially as they get all their stock free. It's just greed.
The Goodwill is a 501c3 nonprofit. They are registered with the Internal Revenue Service. They like other very large nonprofits have higher paid staff but this does not mean they’re for profit. Anything you donate there is tax deductible.
My brother was COO at a Goodwill, they may say they are nonprofit, but they do very little for their clients. They are more into money than helping. There are many lists of non-profits not to contribute to and Goodwill is one of them.
I know here in Indy they run an alternative high school for nontraditional students like young mothers. They do a ton of job training. I used to have a friend who was at HR in a corporate office here.
I’m in Florida and prices are way too high here. I don’t usually find anything good at mine either. You all are really blessed with the variety you have in your stores. We don’t have Bins in my area either. 😢
I live in California and the Vera Bradley bags are $13.99? up to $22.00 at my local Goodwill 😳 which is $5-$10 more than eBay is selling the same bag for 🤯
Jamie, I don’t think you are complaining and whining about the prices at the Goodwills now. I love your channel because you are teaching others how to thrift to make a profit. Goodwill has gotten outrageous! Also, did you know you can put your stained up Pampered Chef in your self cleaning oven and they come out like new!
Jami, it’s doo-daD I think all of them could apply but Knickknack seems best. Here’s the definition: 1: an ornamental attachment or decoration 2: an often small article whose common name is unknown or forgotten : GADGET knickknack: a small trivial article usually intended for ornament Tchotchke: A word that refers to a small, inexpensive trinket or souvenir, such as a prize from a cereal box or inexpensive jewelry.
Yes high mostly but there are gems to be found. I dont shop frequently but more mission shops. I dont donate to them nor do I ever round up. They get enough of my money.
You're lucky if your prices at GW are just going up now. Here in the Chicago area, they have been up since COVID. September 1st, put away your white shoes and white gloves. That was back in the day (60's) when we wore white gloves to church and when we were dressed up.
