I'm always accepting donations for broken games for Open Cart Surgery. If I can fix the game, I'll give it away at a future convention in your honor.
I can't include everything in an unboxing video, but I'll try. If you do send anything, include a note if you'd like a shout-out.
Because people have asked, I wear a XXL.

Seems like a cool project. Would have been better of they also provided buttons and a new shell.

First bend the resistor to the correct distance before you put them in the pcb.

you should make a controller that swaps the a and b button as well as as the dpads bttons that are in wrong directions... then give it to someone just for lols and deny its broken

Well since you do... challenges... John, I challenge you to do a video on how your passion for gaming got started. I just did one on my channel and would love to hear how YOU got into gaming and where YOUR passion for it stems from. A dedicated video telling your story on your channel. I'd LOVE that! Hope all is well, buddy! Regardless, great job on the goofy foot controller here! Incredible work as always. O.J Pro Am had me cracking up lol!

quick answer; I'm the 6th of 7 children in my house growing up. Video games were my 'escape'.

O.J. pro am. Was that inspired on the highway chase?. It even has the same type of car.
@enginerd80
@enginerd80 7 лет назад
It seems to be a modified R.C. Pro-Am. I found pictures of the original game, and in place of "O.J." there was "R.C.", and in place of the photo, there was another car. But the white car was there already in the original -- that must have given the idea to some wiseguy who had learned about the chase. :-) And it looks like all that has been modified is the title screen.

Interestingly, I learned recently this is what NCL originally intended for its control scheme on the NES, DMG, etc. moving forward. It was the norm for previous Game and Watch games and Nintendo was legendarily averse to change/risk. It was only the input of the industrial designer here in Redmond, WA that swapped the D-Pad to the left that led to the video gaming standard we enjoy to this day! *The More You Know*

I can Solder just fine as I've been doing it since I was a kid, but i'd personally rather not risk one of my Childhood NES controllers(the only 3 I own lol) for this mod, and would also like to see this in a dog bone style, so if they did a completed dog bone I'd be all over it, but none the less good job on the mod. :-)

This is great. I am ambidextrous and there's been times where I could have used a control like this. A couple of games to name a few. Tetris, Silver Surfer, Punch Out, Kung Fu etc.

Why not just cut traces and remap the buttons with some wire.

You mean a ds game? There aren't lite specific games. A few dsi maybe, but they're rare and not much worth messing with AFAIK

I use to play with my nintendo controller upside down. This sounds pretty awesome. Yes, growing up the D pad was all reversed for me. That's the way I picked it up at four so that's the way I played pretty funny. When the Playstation came out I had to switch. I do say the feel of the controller would be better for me. Pretty cool.

Sad. destroying more retro peripherals. The amount of unmodded retro is gonna be small in 10 years or so. Yes I Mod too and I'm sad every time lol
@CommodoreFan64

This is why I prefer to do things like this to aftermarket controllers, and I've seen plenty of aftermarket NES controllers that use the exact same PCB being sold in places like 2nd & Charles.
@mattfisher1916
@mattfisher1916 7 лет назад
Commodorefan64 that was my first thought but for this mod you need the chip from a genuine controller.
