I think the Junior version is probably the easiest swimbait out there if you're new to them. Slow retrieve with slight pauses or twitches, it definitely gets bit and you can even throw it on your regular medium heavy because it's < 1 oz. However, I actually do think the price is a bit on the high end for the quality of the bait and their components. These should be the same price as the baby bull shads/gills, or a bit less, tbh. The full size might actually be worth the $20. I have two in baby bass and bluegill and I do think they're worth the money. I bought a bundle on Karl's to get Crappie/Baby Bass/Bluegill/Bone in the Junior versions for $25. THAT felt like an appropriate price.

Just and I mean just got into swimbaits as in this week cought my first swimbait fish Friday, I've had the contender and the baby bull shad. The bull shad is what worked for me. The bites in itself are the addicting part of it, just something about it makes the bite aggressive 👌 and now I'm going down the rabbit hole of swimbaits.

How are you liking the halo rod

I can say that bait is probably the best looking an best designed bait goon has released so far but I don't even buy googan stuff but that looks very good for the price but it might be little to loud an would maybe be good in cloudier water cause clear water idk might scare the fish more the entice the fish but do they make a silent version.

The mike bucca and the googan contender are great for the price. Karls bait got the contender and the bucca for $5. Hard to pass up.

I’m a simple guy that has religiously used the same small handful of baits my whole life. Like I literally have a shelf of the YUM Dinger 100 packs, I’m that guy. Tried a lot of other stuff, always reverted to the old standbys. About a year ago I figured I’d give the Googan baits a shot just for the hell of it. Their plastics honestly aren’t anything special but are good. They follow the same rough formula everyone else does for the plastics and they work the same as everyone else’s, no better or worse BUT the pricing is a bit high unless you’re a Shop Karl’s member or get a BOGO deal. The jigs work about as good as any other reputable jig, nothing good or bad to say there. Now where I was surprised was their cranks, jerks, spooks, poppers and the contender jr (didn’t get the full size). Whoever designed their hard baits put some serious time in and designed damn good products. Never had a hook bend out, the actions are all REALLY good and they just pull fish plain and simple. The GS Hound has become my favorite topwater of all time because I can’t keep bass off that dang thing. Their Spinnerbaits and chatterbaits (I think they call it a clickbait) also do a really good job of attracting bites, my only beef is that the spinners seem a little more prone to bending of the main wire than other spinners I’ve used, though it’s not hard to just bend back whenever necessary. All in all, Id say that the best thing they offer is the hard baits and those are 100% worth picking up and trying to anyone who is contemplating it. I know the GS guys are a bunch of goobers and some people love them while some hate them but I try not to let my personal opinions of people impact my perspective of the work/product that they produce.

The action in the water is so smooth. You know a lot of swimbaits are stiff in the water. I can watch it swimming in the water for the whole day. Honestly, I really do not like Googan, since they stained ALL RU-vid anglers, and I think Biospawn is doing better than Googan soft bait. But this swimbait is really amazing.

Congratulations Googan, you did it! You made a slightly larger H20 Express Jointed Shad with a few minor modifications, threw the Googan name on it and charged 2 1/2 times more for it. I have to give credit where it’s due. I think the Googan guys make average lures for average to slightly higher than average prices but this bait in particular, is great for the price you pay. I’ve been crushing bass and chains this year on the junior. For $20 I can pick this up at my local sporting goods store and I have 0 complaints with it. Like you said, for entry level swim baits where you don’t need a swim bait specific set up, it does the job and it does it well. If your swim bait curious pick this up and then dive deeper into the swim bait world.

Googan lures/baits are pretty good. Sucks 99% of the people can’t separate the dorks who started Googan (except for LFG) and their dork fan boys from the lures/baits. Great review.

Might be able to switch out the split ring to a smaller one and solve the issue with the hook getting in the joint

Bought the contender jr And rly had nothing to complain about it until I hooked up and got the fish to the bank which was my biggest of the year so far prolly 5 or 6 pound bass and the hook mount came out on the back hook which he was hooked in and ya boi lost a 5

my contender was good action bait, but it got stuck in a small batch of weeds and in process of pulling it out, one of the rotating hooks broke off!! In a weed!!! trash!!

I've seen them but they don't have a trout pattern. The same store I saw those they have savage gear 7in pulse tail line through trout. I've caught a 9-8 and a 10-2 this spring in clear lake. Giants will demolish a trout without hesitation, googans dropped the ball on that

I've seen ine in person and it was awful. They're cheaply made junk.

It looks and swims sexy.... but after 1.... yes 1 fish the back trebles broke off. Complete piece of junk and horrible hardware. Nice review though.
