To be honest it's beneficial for people to take both... besides, the Google cyber course was built to prep you for the CompTIA Sec+ and you will get a discount voucher for the Sec+ if you complete the Google cyber course. The only way I would recommend the Google cyber certificate over the Sec+ is if you are short on cash, want an intro to cybersecurity while getting a decent credential on your resume. Overall the Sec+ is a better credential since it's a certification and not a certificate like the Google Cyber course...but I feel the Google Cyber course will become an acceptable 1st credential as time goes on

Do I still need to take the comptia A+ ... or no since I took the cyber course from google ?

@@spencerhudson2516 I would review the material for the A+ but I wouldn't take the exam for it since it's too expensive. I would take thec Sec+ though

The Security + exam is all about memorizing what you learned, barely any real life practice. Why is it so popular? It is one of the oldest certification out there and for me they make you pay for their brand with $392 USD for the exam voucher only. For entry level certs i will rather go for the CC from ISC2 which is hands down the number 1 organization when it comes to cybersecurity certs. The exam voucher is free when you pay for the course material. Complementing the CC cert with the Google Certificate give you a very good theoretical and practical knowledge to launch your career. Securiity + is more about a brand for me , you will pay some higher fees just for that theoretical knowledge lol

I agree, there are many alternatives to the Sec+, but the Sec+ although theoretical, covers a variety of topics that potential employers may find useful when recruiting entry level analysts. Also the Sec+ branding and popularity has made it a mainstay in the industry.

Hey there! Your video breakdown is fantastic, and I appreciate how you've provided a thorough comparison between the CompTIA Security Plus and Google's cyber security professional certificate. It's clear that you've put a lot of effort into researching and presenting this information. One key takeaway I got from your video is the valuable insight that the Security Plus certification offers a comprehensive foundation in cybersecurity concepts, even though it can be quite challenging. On the other hand, the Google certificate seems to be a more beginner-friendly option, providing practical skills and career guidance. Thanks for sharing your expertise!

That’s cool I think they’re both valid. I got my sec+ 4 days ago. Now Im working on net + to get the stack. Hope I pass also half way done with the book and studying.

Have you ever had to take the A+? If not why not? Da ain't gon create a problem on your resume? Am just trying to get myself in the door also.

@@Donelomusic no I was a pc technician and no it shouldn’t affect your ability to get your foot in. Certs are additional evidence to your knowledge getting the net+ was just a persuasive tactic to get my current job as a IBM data center technician.

The main point of this Google certificate is to get _both,_ using this to study for the Sec+. They aren't really in competition.

I passed my security+ exam two weeks ago and I’m also finishing up my Masters of Science in IT with a security management concentration and I have little working experience but a lot of knowledge of cybersecurity. I’m just trying to get more working experience to land a job.

Work experience is essential. Even with a masters and no work experience, you may still only get entry level

I’ve got my Bachelors in Cybersecurity, my work already has available courses through Coursera and linked in. Would it be a good idea to use the google cyber security professional course as a sort of prerequisite to the Security+? I absolutely want to take the Security+ exam, but in your last video talking about the google course, I feel like it makes the most sense for me with my job already having Coursera stuff to take the google course then grind out practice exams for the Security+. Thoughts?

Does this prepare you to take the comptia sec +? So what is the issue? You get a cert and automatically gets you reqdy for sec + exam
