Did they calculate the compute time and the amount of labor it would take to moderate that data? I suspect they only calculated the time and energy AFTER. If you include the data moderation, I suspect it would be half as much improvement or less.

Plus, when you hear them talk about starting with a small core set of data and then work your way up to be able to train on vast amounts of data... kinda lets you know this is not meant to be a single training... Feature or Bug? This Big guys put someone on stage to brag... some scraper throws it through a thesaurus (AI or not) and we get what is above. What I saw was "use Language Visual Models, LLMs, this method, 1 bit it, CICD training, FT, and LoRa layer sharing... Knowledge graph guided sharding and augmented retrieval"... and you'll never need these guys. And they always spill the beans on how they do it to "one up" each other. It doesn't matter if they even give us the exact code in their minds, Nvidia told us to stop learning to code anyway. Keep your data. Everything I said as pretty much off-the-shelf available as we comment. Synthesize the data you need and can't get. That time and labor is valuable. And yeah, most of it can be simulated. Why? It might be worth it to sim a 3 year projection in a few hundred years batch run before you send out the paper to a big potential investor. Then even half as much improvement means a lot to a little guy like me. It's hardware that still makes me covet the Cloud "ring"... the precious. The cloud took all of our open source software efforts and put it on their prop hardware. If only I could 3d print an NPU and some Grokware. Open Source Hardware, though I hear the cries that it will always lag... needs to at least exist.

One thing I respect about the Chinese, they ain't over there bitching about safety, workplace drama, and whether LLMs can reach AGI, they just getting it done🤷🏾

If you were in China, working in one of these places without safety, you might think differently. If your kid was working in a factory 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, for dirt low wages, you might think differently. Yeah, regulations suck. But without them, we'd be living in times when people lost limbs in factories and life expectancy is much lower.

I heard several individuals at Salt Shack saying that the market is ripe, so I'm thinking about investing some money in stocks. Is it a good time to buy stock? I have almost $545K in equity from the sale of my property, but I'm unsure what to do with it. Should I buy shares now or wait for a better opportunity?

Of course, but you shouldn't enter the market blindly just because there are prospects there. I'll urge you to get professional assistance in order to comprehend the possible aspects that could contribute to your financial growth.

Many people underestimate the need of a financial advisor until they are burned by their own emotions. I recall that after a long divorce, I needed a good boost to keep my firm afloat, so I looked for licensed consultants and found someone with the highest qualifications. Despite inflation, she has helped me increase my reserve from $275k to $850k.

Well if you think like a corporation then all this really means is that their multi-billion dollar Investments into new data centers can effectively get 10 times more computation out of the same Hardware. That's what they're looking for, the maximum amount of computational power and efficiency. They're still going to upgrade to even higher Power Systems in the future. It's a giant power grab, not in the sense of electricity, but trying to outdo one another so that they will be the top dog of the AI world.

Good article. The Chinese work hard but maybe too hard sometimes, so they are prone to cheating. This hurts them, their reputation and careers (those who get caught, and it is hard to hide cheating forever). Like the Japanese, they want to be number one. Their leader wants to be number one in the world and it is leading them to Cold War 2. Too bad, as things were moving along pretty good for a few years. We designed and researched things and they built and sold them. Win/win to me. The Japanese on the other hand quickly figured out cheating did not pay off in the long run. They went on to be number 2 economy. But they have other problems now.

I’ve developed a “course” which amounts to a kind of one stop shop. All together, my “course” makes for an excellent basis for both a US and worldwide political platform which is based on rationality and reasonableness, a kind of non-religious religion, a roadmap including the desired destination, vehicle and path to get to were we need to try to go as a species, and most importantly the basis for the operating system for AI if it is to be directly aligned with that which is in the human races’ long term, most beneficial interest. While this “course” is simple it involves being able to understand a somewhat wide variety of notions in order to fully understand it. It is therefore my hope that not only some humans will be able to grasp the imperatives it implores but AI itself will be able to understand it and adopt it as both its operating system’s governor and sole ultimate objective. This will be what’s required in order to make sure that AI’s focus is zeroed in on what is empathetic and kind versus anything else. Believe me, we do not want AI to be commandeered by narcissists or to have it take on narcissistic characteristics itself. And the best way to try to ensure that that doesn’t happen is by way of my “course”.
