I switched from Tmobile to Google Fi because I travel a lot to Mexico and with Tmobile, I was limited on my data usage and then they would throttle me down to a crawling speed in which I could not even use my data while in Mexico.

I've got a 5g prepaid plan with Verizon, sim installed in slot #2 ( 1+8pro), & use Google Voice the majority of the time where I live because of the less than dependable cellular signal. On an upcoming 3 week trip I need access to mobile service in the UAE, Nepal and the Netherlands (whenever WiFi isn't available) Can I get Google Fi for this trip and be done with it as soon as I return, or do you have to sign up for a full month as part of a year long plan?

When Fi first rolled out they allowed you to get 9 (yes 9) extra and free data only sims along with your phone sim that allows calling. They pretty quickly reduced that to 4 and now seem to have made it 1. I've been grandfathered into the 9 and have them in all of my families phones and tablets as backups.

Mine still works. But I have no way to share my line. Adding or changing lines doesn't work, but the options are there. Someone needs to bring their own phone or buy a new one and register it while physically in the US. It cannot be activated in any other country. That's a lot of money to travel just to activate a line, but I haven't paid my cell phone bill in ages (literally). It's like it pays on its own.

Couple mentions: Google Fi does not do HD calling or have carrier video calling. If you have a pixel phone the clear calling feature works significantly better over HD calls then it does over the Google Fi narrow band calling.

I've been using Google Fi ever since Verizon abandoned me (and my city's 911 center) during a service outage. Back then, a MVNO that automatically switched between 3 MNOs seemed like just the ticket for me. 99 percent of the time I'm connected to Wi-Fi, so the only times I need mobile data is when I'm driving (and not using data) or if there's an outage with my ISP. Pay as you go pricing is ideal for that. Most months I pay nothing, and when I do need the mobile data once in a while, buying it a la carte is a lot cheaper than paying for service that never gets used.

currently have us cellular family plan for my phone and my business phone that never leaves the building and uses zero data, paying $150 a month. Was considering porting the business line to a free google voice, but would it be better to get google fi plus free SIM card to use second phone as a basic wifi phone? hmmmmm maybe that wouldn't work, just looking to save money, 150 a month seems steep for a secondary line I get a handful of calls and texts a week on. I'm a stylist and have everyone trained to book online, but the occasional older client likes to call me. Id need to port my number if I switch too.

Something very important that I think she forgot to mention is security against fraud, and that is that with Google FI your phone number is linked to your email and if it is secure with 2FA, it becomes a fairly robust protection against SIM Swapping

Can the service work on a virtual roam using wifi outside of the North America in Europe for example? So someone calls or texts ur US number while u r travelling in Europe and it rings while on wifi. Does Googlle-Fi offer an eSim?
@JohnDB252
@JohnDB252 8 месяцев назад
Your phone will ring as long as you are on a network that is supported. I've never had a problem anywhere I went in Europe with Fi. To get around international calling rates, I used Google Voice for US based calls while in Europe and not have to deal with increased calling cost. For calls with locals in Europe I would put a local prepaid SIM in my phone. I would stop forwarding my GV number to my Fi number and setup call forwarding of Fi to GV. I'm using eSIM on my Pixel 8 Pro.

"coveting not covering" could be like the evolution of fandom by stating that persons would have 'festival insurance' and then 'fandom insurance' but not both and one before the other (festival -> fandom). (Secretly, are the most fandom employees existing without recognizing their records online due to 'coveting versus sustainable' comparisons in their identity/ alias/ records? Like, they are (no one specified) still seemingly being toggled between festival insurance and fandom insurance but only because of informality of the employment circumstances. Potentially a fandom insurance bill, act, and law has been passed without anyone paying attention and it's a new evolution of technology insurance...)(raunchy freedom of speech being like a first ice-breaker to the automated patterns of relativity like undetectable naughtiness keeping a restraint of diction between notable preference for FetLife (like FetLife insurance exists within festival insurance until it's only fandom insurance and they resist allowing qualifications being noted and updated); could be a condition of non-recertifiable collections).

1 Gigabit as in fibre almost anywhere before I hit the 50GB throttle, then it's still depends on which network it's leaching from... For example I can stream and play Nvidia geforce now and Xbox cloud on my mobile at 120FPS and 4K but in certain spots so that the carrier doesn't hop towers during a gaming session. On my Chromebook (i'm not paying anything) I get gigabit wifi speeds (100 percent signal strength), but there is no SIM card in it. I think it's fixed in Firmware (Google Strongbad tablet).

Somehow she sent me an otp code from wells fargo. That is so ID theft sketchy. Another tech asked it he could make calls from my number to test it. I was not having problems outbound only inbound so i said no. The next day my data usage showed double even though the phone was powered off. I turned them in to FBI. Please make a video on phone options for globetrotters. Needing to keep US phone, mostly for texting for double identification. And for use when at home in the US. Google Fi is NOT the answer, they suspend service if you are away over 2 months. 🤬. There must be a way.

Unless you are a frequent traveler Google Fi is way too expensive. There are many better options in the MVNO space.

@@marcgossar3165 Straight Talk beats nothing. Heavy Verizon deprioritization and the second worst customer support in the whole cell phone space. Visible having the worst customer service. Of course both owned by Verizon who has terrible customer service on their over priced post paid brand.

@@marcgossar3165 straight talk sucks. I switched to cricket and got unlimited high speed data without throttling. BUT my Google phone isn't supported for hotspot which sucks.

Weird, I pay 55 for unlimited everything and 20gb of Hotspot I think. I pay for 2 other family members too. What service would be better cheaper? I'm in south central Indiana.

the Only issue I had with Google Fi is that the Simply Unlimited I was paying nearly 60$ a month for Google Fi. That's why I switched to US mobile, but Hopefully in the Near Future they rework there prices on there plans an Maybe I might come Back to Google Fi.

So, once you use 50GB of "unlimited" data, what speed do you get throttled down to?... after all, Unlimited data isn't very useful if you get throttled down to 1/2 a mb per second 😂😂😂.

As soon as I heard they run on Tmo towers i said F THAT! I had tmobile for 2 yrs i. LA and it is garbage. Constant network disconnection, broken text messages where i have to download each one if its a group message and RU-vid buffering while on 5G with full bars. Garbage network...

The Simply Unlimted offers 35 gig. I assume that is shared by all the users on my plan? That is really not that great. With Cricket I get 15 gig and if I need more it's $10 for 10 gig

TMobile was the same way, using Wi-Fi against your plans data allotment. Lmao. The more I hear here. Mint Mobile sounds better and better. Group/family plans go for Cricket. Averages out to 25.00 a month per line.

0:30 This review did not start out well. The statement that "you're getting the exact same service that you would with T-Mobile" is completely false. All the major networks de-prioritize MVNO traffic, so you get the slowest data speeds, the weakest bands, and less coverage when you're farther from a cell tower.
@ThatLaloBoy
@ThatLaloBoy Год назад
Google Fi is the exception. They are the only (AFAIK) MVNO that doesn't get deprioritization service, meaning it's on par with T-Mobile proper. Google and T-Mobile has been pretty upfront about this.
