Yup im in the Uk, got excited about Gemini and did the trial for their Google One but was utterly disappointed it did none of the advertised features as if they just didn’t exist. The text generation was fairly decent and fast but GPT4 on plus sub was far superior.

I think its because they are afraid of being sued/do not care enough about the countries to adjust the features to fit with each country's laws

Well the new EU DMA prohibits customer data from moving across services within the same business which is required for a lot of these AI things to work. So I don’t expect many of these things to be released in any EU countries.

Tokens take about 2 minutes of research to understand. A token is like a letter to AI that is made up of a couple of letters. Like "let" "ter" could be two tokens, when combined make the word "letter". LLMs just predict the next token based on all the previous tokens in the chat. It makes it's predictions based on training. A million tokens is probably like 500,000 words or something. This means you could feed it a 500,000 word book and ask it a question.

Yeah no way, just typing messages to it is way beyond that. It’s just GPT hallucinating, all these AIs will make insane errors at times but people don’t vet the information they’re getting.

Most likely not all his documents uploaded because the same thing in the original post is what GPT refers to tokens as.

​​@@micahjohnson9184 as you said, that's proof that 129 tokens would be a very small amount of it < 1%. That said LLMs still have a hard time with exact numbers and math, so it was most likely an error.

Well, I asked GPT 4o the same thing. I gave it context that Google I/O was about 2 hours long and it said "the number of tokens would likely range from approximately 18,720 to 23,040 tokens." This is without the PDF transcript of Google I/O. I think it knows what tokens are, he might've just missed a lot of documents, I'm not sure.

Because the products and services have not yet been perfected, peers have already promoted them in advance. You see, even though Google has promoted them in advance this time, it is still ahead of OpenAI😂

Seriously why would you talk about something that already release???? Then what's the point of these event????? These events suppose to be a showcase of the develop progress of a future capability. Just like all the tech EXPO. The main purpose is the generate public interest not selling existing products. If you would like to know their currently released product you can just go to their catalog LMAO. It's not like they are trying to charge customer for an unfinised product.

@@GM-kj5xw No, that’s not what I’m talking about. Read again! I suggested it would be better to have an event when the technology is ready, not released! Then customers could have it in hand a week or latest a month later. Companies like Google and Microsoft often talk about products that end up being several months (if not years) away from launch. It’s frustrating. It sometimes feels like they’re marketing the idea of something they don’t actually have a full handle on.
