In this video, we are going to cover Google Maps vs TomTom.
We will start from the features and start driving the car and see how both work on the road.
Both services provide many great features and the video takes a look at most of those features.
The video includes a 15-minute journey to the same location to see how both react.
The video covers most of the tools, but some of the information may be obsolete, so I will recommend checking out the article.

I've noticed Tom tom will take you down back roads and obscure roads to get to your destination, it only takes you to the rough area and claims your destination is somewhere different 😂. It also can't search businesses using post code. Google maps gets straight to the point, and takes you to the exact location

On tomtom does it avoid traffic when you are offline? And does it and finds a faster route when you are offline?

I don't think you will get traffic information when offline. The app will just find the shortest path.

With my actual Tom Tom device, I have it connected to my home wifi before I take off and it gives me information about road works and sometimes changes my trip accordingly.

1:41 I think the reason why it wouldn't display the results is because you are on the "Addresses" category. You need to tap "Points of Interests" to enable searching a place by name. Unfortunately the search bar isn't unified so you have to specify whether you are searching for an Address or Point of Interest.

I know, but having a separate option does not make any sense. The search option should work on all the location types.

Hello brilliant video do thankyou...ime a lorry driver use Tom Tom and google maps...I use Tom Tom to keep me on bigger roads then if business google maps to locate exact place of business...Is there away please of downloading all businesses onto Tom Tom sat navs...or for lorry settings on google maps..?again thankyou for your video...

Hi, I'm not fully sure about TomTom Go, but Google Map's offline mode allows searching for places nearby.

TomTom need to fix having to type in the full address for a vague destination. For example if you wanted a KFC in the area? Having to find the address of a KFC near you and type it into TomTom seems inconvenient and dumb. I'm considering all my options due to the Huawei P40 Pro being out and I love Huawei as a phone brand

@@mks-mobile hopefully with the support of Huawei they'll make the app better because Google Maps is far from perfect, and Huawei know there's alot of time, money and effort needed and who knows maybe TomTom will take the crown back

The reason your market (1:40) is not popping up is because you are not clicking the " Points of Interest" word on the search menu.

Google is the mother of all GPS but not to be solely used for trucker!!! Can be very dangerous for using in big commercial vehicle ie semi trucks

I just got a 2300 RAM and they have tomtom navigation. It is pure shit and may God damn ram for putting this crap in these trucks. If I had seen this I would never ever buy a ram!!!

Tom Tom might be a long running GPS director but now days as the technology gets better and better who would want to have such an extra device, one smart phone does it all.

They are great for long road trips. Keeping your phone on your dashboard under the sun can overheat it.
