Probably some of the best quality SEO info on RU-vid. I was learning SEO around 2010. But, what I learned pretty quickly was that many of the 'seo experts' on RU-vid were likely making most of their money from selling their questionable courses to naive newbies (like me) than from their professional SEO projects/portfolios.

Already saw this started happening last year to some industries where independent sites that had been ranking Top 3 for years dropped to page 2 only to be replaced by larger brand names. The sad part is this didn't really give the user get the best search results either.
Did backlinks really lose relevancy? Or did just the "number" of backlinks lose importance? I have a feeling that G gets better and better to find the best backlinks. the ones that also push reputation. build better backlinks! dont focus on the number of.
I guess it's more about having relevant quality backlinks than a "number". So backlinks from authorities in your field, backlinks from reputable sources that have similar content.
It's very clear in any niche with the recent updates that Google strongly pushes large coporations or "real" businesses with products and services over small independent publishers.
Google is obviously killing bloggers..not because you're blogging but they're doing it through your monetization...if you're not selling something yourself..but instead sending people to Amazon and other affiliates,... Or by ads..which is just sending links to another commercial entity that's doing the selling. Also if your page is just a blog roll ..that s definitely getting hurt by the Google updates
Try to diversify your traffic sources. I get traffic from Twitter, Reddit, and Instagram. Now, I try to expand on Facebook and Pinterest too. It's a lot of work tho...

But basically the last couple update have heavily simple common bloggers like you .. especially if your monetization is mostly affiliate and ads.. and if your homepage is a blog roll .. If you're set up like. A real business or ecom site with real products... You may have been left unscathed

while there could be something in what you are saying and it could potentially be a ranking factor, I can give you quite a few examples of sites with well established brands, huge social media and great backlinks that got decimated. here is one example that fit friend website (not sure why youtube deletes my comments, probably cos of the url) so I'm kind of sceptical that is the 'hack' to the march update.
For AI content? surely that's the first poster boy they'd go after first but then again, his sites were getting clapped way before if anyone even bothered to check ahrefs. I see all these SEO gurus teaching how to create affiliate sites and say that the ones that got clapped are their "test sites" only but then again how are we to know if they do have successful sites that don't get clapped if they keep it a "secret"
He did not. Any readers please remember to USE google. Stop relying on just Ahrefs and what you remember. Google "Chipper Birds" - the branded results are absolutely SHEIT. That's not reputation management.
