Been trying for months, I just get 'cannot connect to device' when trying to change USB options .. I've tried in developer mode too .. These phones do seem to be useless overpriced pieces of turd :D, I'll not be getting another one ever ..

When I pull down from the top of the screen that notification is not there on my Pixel 6a. Is there another setting I need to change in Settings???

I don't get that notification. It's charging but it doesn't say anything in notifications. So this tutorial is completely useless from the beginning. I have a Pixel 7

This is so aggravating ... very disappointment with Pixel and won't recommend this phone. As soon as I connected my old S8 ... a pop up asked to allow connection. But I have to do extra steps for this phone for my computer to see the stupid phone. Then the file manager that comes with it does not see the files that were transferred to the phone. Have to use a 3rd party app for that. This is absolutely ridiculous ... so-call Pixel produce by Google does not work very well to use their OS. How stupid is that???

Doesn't work. I juust don't see "MTP USB Device" in my "This PC" folder

When I downsweep there is no USB charging device notification. Yes, I've got the USB cable plugged into the PC, the other end plugged into the phone, the phone is unlocked, ... UPDATE: Turns out not all USB cables are the same even though the end connectors are. The one that worked for charging the cell phone gave me the problem. I switched to a different USB cable, that I've also used for charging, and this one worked fine for transferring files. The connectors look identical and, like I said, both cables work fine for charging. Just one cable gives the above problem and the other does not. So if you have the same problem as I, try a different USB cable.

Realizing that the phone could still be charging, but might not be able to transfer data, and that the prompt appearing on the notification screen was an absolute test for this was the break through I needed to solve this problem. Many thanks. Subbed.

The problem is not 'How... ' but why does the Dell not read the mobile pixel 7a.

Something is off with mine... Got about 70+ pictures over the past days and when I follow this procedure these pictures are not loading in with my explorer =/ It does load my device in the explorer, and I can access the folders of my DCIM, Movies, Screenshots and everything else. But the pics are not loading in. Is it maybe something different with the Pixel 7 Pro ? Though the 4 most recent pictures I took after I did the procedure are showing, and a few pictures from a month ago.

My phone wont allow me to select any other options. SO annoying. I'm sure this is set up to force me to buy yet another cable from Google. I'm so upset.

Marvellous ! I spent days on this and the only way I could get at my pics was to upload them to the Cloud using Google drive, then download them back from there.The "USB controlled by" THIS Device button was not live, so I was at a dead end. The phone is a brand new 7 Pro . I was getting nowhere until I found this video and it was "changing the cable" that did the trick ! Many Many thanks

noper no good at all , my phone says file transfer but nothinh on connected laptop, it wont bluetooth iether, these 2 devices are on their last chance, ive tried several cables including ones used once but nothing works, just bought a brand new cable and guess what ? nothing works so i have an expensive frisbee

the issue i am trying find solution to is the fact that the transfering rate is ok but the loading time is alot is there anyway to fix that?

works on my pixel 7a, that notification you have to click, is wayyy at the bottom on mine so croll trough all notifications

Ok, here's the thing though, I have older pictures from before my current Pixel 7 that I can't find when I attach the USB, but are available to view in the photo app. Which folder would those be in when I am trying to do the transfer?

My usb c to regular usb on the pc didnt work but when i used the usb c to usb c on the pc then it worked.

How can I transfer files from my laptop to my pixel 7?

This guide ONLY for Windows!!! It seems the author never use a MAC. so the title it completely misleading.
