You just need to carry 5 phones with you so hopeufully one will answer your question. As opposed to touching screen 5 times to check your calendar by hand.
I appreciate google doing live demos, even if it goes wrong it gives me more confidence in the areas that do work because they’re not edited or prerecorded. It shows a real confidence in their product and also shows the realistic user experience.

@@Artagah pulling down the notification shade is cool, but the rear fingerprint sensor was SO GOOD. Like probably 95% accurate on average, super fast, and no light(for it to read your fingerprint involved). (Yes, I know, ultrasonic fingerprint sensors exist, I haven't tried them, but I highly doubt they could match the combined speed, accuracy, and just how "normal" it felt to have you unlock it with the rear fingerprint sensor.)
2:50 that literally took 12-15 seconds. This is why "AI" is stupid. You could have opened your calendar, swiped to the date in question and looked yourself in half that time. As for the "set a reminder" prompt, Assistant has been doing that for a decade.
@@NormTurtle So we need even better hardware to do those jobs much more faster, even though we can do it pretty fast by our selfs... Gemini it's just not ready, it can't do even the basics things that google assistant could
They show a lot of AI, yet never say which is locked behind the Gemini Advanced paywall. Plus, why would I want to add wildflowers and a hot air balloon to a photo where none exist? Creepy.
@ozzzy3z946 I completely agree about adding stuff that wasn't originally in the photo. The only non-creepy reason I can imagine altering a photo this much would be to change the sky to something more appealing. Adding flowers and such with AI just feels like cheap social media content.
How busy and important are we that we need our phone to do all this for us? Reading, writing, drawing, and curating are the last bastion of human activities.
The more these automations are being shoved with each iteration, the more we do not need it.. most of the population will be creating sub-level content.
It's features for features sake, and I doubt half of it will ever work. Remember when assistant was supposed to be able to order Panera for you? Or book movie tickets? Nobody wants these kinds of roll-the-dice features.
This is kind of why I think Apple is going to continue with the prerecorded Apple events. There’s just a ton that can go wrong in a live setting. That being said, sometimes live events with an audience can lead to really cool unveilings (MacBook Air in an envelope).
I tried Gemini for a day about 6 months ago and then switched back to assistant as Gemini could not even "play latest news". I am more interested in useful functionality than having to keep repeating myself to no avail with Gemini. Going to sleep, wake me in 2027.
This. Gemini, please at least call Assistant's functions in the background so you can be a true replacement. Then you can become Live and chatty and everything
As long as they let me opt out of this AI madness, I will continue to use a pixel phone. If they would be more clear on how their models are trained, I might be interested in at least checking it out but I don't trust google, who at heart is an advertising company, to not share my data.
Stability AI, makers of open source Stable Diffusion, were open about how their models were trained. Result? Moral panic. Lawsuits. Lesson learned: don't be transparent. Everything is hush hush now.
As a pixel 8 pro user I'm just jealous they added vapor chamber this time... Until TSMC started to manufacture the tensor chip, I have no hope for its performance lol

Gemini Live interests me in that it costs money and so we can assume it's not entirely on device. This is in contrast to Apple's new Siri which is entirely on device; albeit, one that is only relegated to their newest devices.
Already added to my cart and then watched this video. I have pixel 7 pro and didn't upgrade to 8 because of AI. Now it is even worse - I just want to make good photos without not existing things. I know AI has been processing photos on my pixel 7 but the are limits, i want to have more natural less AI photos
@@bluesailormercury I am going to watch more reviews and maybe not pre-order, I will try it on an offline store and buy if there is a choice, at least in camera, how much AI is used. I believe it will be optional and I will be able to turn it off when I need it. Otherwise, it is probably an iPhone time because my pixel 7 pro freezes every month

to run AI on device you need more RAM, apple should give more RAM to their computers both iphone and macbooks, 8gb and 16gb respectively should be the base model
this way wayyyy impressive than an apple event. the first pre recorded apple event was soo sick. with all the insane cinematography and transitions. but it have got soo boring recently.

Anxiety during that demo is understandable but we have to take to the consideration that Steve Jobs had replacement iPhones on the desk during presentation in 2008 because he was not sure if it will not break during presentation.
Google really raised the bar on Apple. If I was not so heavily invested in the Apple ecosystem or there was better interoperability between platforms, I would be really tempted to switch to several of their devices.
I seriously love live demos.. And where are the upcoming Pixel 10 and future Pixel devices announcements? It’s usual for Google to announce new future devices at a launch event :/
A great competition to the iPhone interms of just the design. As an iphone user, I am not that much surprised by Google Pixel interm of OS related things then apple, apple is alway peak with OS competition.
