You know that if Google just adds option to choose server/country it would kill the VPN market. As low as basic subscription gives you VPN option and also extra storage.
Fair point, though I tried to remain as objective as possible in this video as a VPN user myself and pointed out good things about Google One too like the additional storage and its simplicity. But as I pointed out in the video - Google VPN is currently lacking the ability to choose your own VPN location which is a key aspect of getting a lot of VPN benefits
I stopped watching after a minute when he compared Google One's highest price plan to SurfShark's lowest price plan, as if anyone buys Google One just for the VPN 🙄. Not to mention my Basic plan has the VPN.
Hes not wrong, its just that google vpn is limited and while it can be used mostly for public wifi and school wifi, theres more things to do with a vpn
It actually does connect you to another country just not of your choosing. I ran a speed test with google one enabled and disabled, when enabled my server was in brussels whereas it was london when disabled
4:30 same goes for surfshark no? Google actually has an extensive whitepaper and independent audits that have good results. This video has more assumptions that are not necessarily based by facts
Not the best, but since it already comes with my Google one sub. I'm cool with it. Anybody worried about their data on Google shouldn't use anything Google related say all. Funny when people say they don't trust one particular Google service while fully involved in Maps, Gmail, Drive, Photos, RU-vid and using an Android phone with all their infos...🤷♂️
its part of Google one, so I use it knowing it will not be like other companies own who are dedicated...plus even if ur using other VPN ur probably still using Chrome = yes to logs...

Btw VPN, Virtual private network are used to make connections from a client (Google VPN server) different by the client itself (smartphone, pc, etc)and same when get responses. About the log thing unless you use a non Android (Google) phone, without Google services and apps and going through Google Servers when browsing the internet on a website that doesn't use Google Analytics, RU-vid videos and related, plus coockies, it is impossible for them not to log. Is there a way to log in to Google Vpn on your Amazon fire stick. I tried everything and could not even get a log in to Google at all. Even using an APK app for Google one the spinning icon comes up and just remains spinning
I've found Google One VPN so limited that it's not even worth using. I'm not sure what advantages it provides over the average basic VPN providers other than the ease of setup. edit: The best use case I've found was using it on open/public wifi connections. My problem is that despite being a Google Fi customer with multiple Google mobile devices associated with my account, I'm only able to use the VPN on my primary device. Moreover, the VPN does not work for any devices using my primary device as a wifi hotspot.
can you guys make a vedio on how virtual servers work , i live in nepal and when i try to connect surfshark to my country it shows me it has 400+ ping , is it because its a virtual server ?
I think google vpn is a good step forward , its a bit like windows own build in firewall, yes theres much better 3rd party solutions out there , but it offers users a base defence. Aka its better than nothing
It suits my needs and I have all of my devices connected to Google One and its cheap and absolutely hassle free. I tried a couple of separate VPN's and I was having constant tech issues so, I binned them. Perhaps simple is the best way.....
Because some apps use ur location to run properly. So with your VPN being on its pinging ur location somewhere you're not at. Which will sometimes throw off the app
I wouldn't trust Google anyway. I've migrated away overall from Google products and services. I still use RU-vid but I could never use it again and be just fine. It's next, lol.
@@BackDawsfor some people just being a big corporation is enough to distrust them. They disregard any major service just because it’s a thing that everyone uses and stick to other minor service. And when that service becomes the next big thing, they move on once again.
Google vpn is using a server somewhere in Washington according to dns leak test I live in S.Texas ping is like 67 mili seconds I find quad 9 is much better lower ping of 30 and speed is not as good as quad 9.
Hey Mujtaba - it's a fair point. Having VPN availability in countries like Pakistan is very difficult. We are constantly investigating this question and perhaps in the far future we will be available in Pakistan again!
Lol it might connect you to a server in a state (if you're American) that has restrictions on those sites. PH doesn't load if Google VPN picks a Virginia or Texas server lol
