I got a pair of these a few days ago for my Pixel 2 XL and honestly... they were way better than I expected. They fit very well for me out of the box and weren't showing signs of falling out during my commute. And I didn't think the sound was too bad, it was better than expected for me. The sound isn't spectacular, but I would say it sounded pretty good, crisp with notable bass. I suspect that if they fit poorly, then they will sound poor. I really like the Google Assistant feature, being able to discreetly talk to it, listen to my messages, check my schedule, find out the weather and ask to play a specific song without looking at any screen/unlocking my phone was quite convenient. This feature will, over time, span over to other USB-C headphones too, so it's not unique. They showed slight discomfort after about an hour or so, but it can easily be relieved with the adjustable loops. Noise isolation is not great but still better than I expected. I can easily listen to these on the London Underground without blasting the volume. I do prefer the silicone in-ear type headphones in terms of fit, but there's something I like about the design of these loops. I don't mean to invalidate or discredit this review, you make reasonable points. I just thought I'd bring up my point of view in a rather negative comments section. I personally don't think this is a "do-not-buy" product, and they would definitely suit the needs of many.
Agreed, I have a huge problem finding earphones that don't fall out of my ears, so having these come with my Pixel 3 I didn't have high hopes. But they fit perfect on me they sound very good to me. I like to listen to bass heavy music and don't have many complaints. Sound Isolation is almost non existent though.
About the isolation, I think that when is it for using outside, when walking on the street for example, it is more secure to not being isolated. You need to be aware of what is around you, in case of danger. To be disconnected of your surrounding is not a good think when you're not in a safe place.
For me you shouldn't by them based on sound quality mainly. Yeah the fit is not great but there is no bass and the high end sounds a little off at higher volumes.
Copper vs Glass - At 1:50 you said the main reason for saying not to buy them was how they fit. At 2:50, you said the second reason was poor sound quality and that it could be due to how they fit. So, is it fair to say you weren't able to properly judge the sound quality to tell others not to buy them?
I disagree with your assessment. These are $30 headphones. The controls are good and the fact it has Google translate is built in make this worth the $. I think the sound is good. Again they are $30 head phones and are not meant to be noise cancelling. I wear these to the gym and they don't move at all in my ear. I have no problem with fit or sound. If your expectation is that you are getting top of the line sound and noise cancelling for $30 the problem is with your expectation not the product. I disagree completely with your review. Again they fit me fine and I think the sound is good for $30, and think the controls work perfectly with my pixel 3. I have a pair of noise cancelling headphones for flights or bus rides, and I have zero expectation that these phones would fill that need.
Worst review I've seen in a long time stop comparing them to Apple they are not Apple products. second of all they sound very good for headphones they're not supposed to have a ton of bass
I just received them to use with my pixel2xl and can say I'm happy with them so far. You need to make sure you adjust the chord correctly so it fits in your ear perfectly. Once it fits perfectly the base is deep
Everyone's ears are different. That's just how it goes. Who's to say what ear looks normal and what doesn't. Is there a board of geniuses who have the final say on what ear looks good, and what doesn't? No. Just don't make fun of others because of something hereditary and a part of them that they can't change.
This is crazy, this review is all negative and it almost convince me not to purchase them. I just got them and they are sweet, I love them. The sound of the Pixel USB-C earbuds is what really got me intrigued. It’s surprisingly clean and smooth. There’s no discernible distortion to speak of, and I can turn them up to their max volume without being assaulted by excessively hot treble or a weird frequency response. The tonal balance that Google has struck with these buds is good and faithful to the music being played. Voices, especially, sound clear and natural, with maybe a small note of warmth added to them, which makes listening to podcasts or conference calls a nicer experience. For the $30 price, these Pixel Buds do a great job of producing satisfying audio.
Yeah, I agree. We have well-respected, high end audio companies like Audeze making lightning cords for their heqdphones with in-line DACs and everything. I wish we could get that kind of thing on Android. I enjoy my JBL Everest 110, which are wireless, but I would like the opportunity for great usb c headphones as well.
Do these work with OG Google pixel does anyone know ? Cause my head phones jack is not responding thinking about just using type c so when I upgrade to the latest pixel next year I'll be already prepared
Having tried this earbuds out for a few days, I can say for sure these are great for the price. Saying they are "lacking bass and sound tinny" is incredibly bizarre. My experience, as well as many others in the comments section and other reviewers have pointed out the sound of these are excellent given it's size. Out of the box, these little buds are deceptive and would lead you to believe they wouldn't produce a wide range of sound, however the sound design and sound stage are amazing for these little buds. Also, saying the stock earbuds that come with Apple iPhones sound better is also very misleading as it is well known that they provide adequate sound, but nothing to write home about. Perfectly suitable to an average listeners but to say you would prefer them for music is very strange. I don't want to discredit your review with the heavy negative feedback you have given them as you did make a few fair points. Overall telling people to straight up not buy these is not justified as from what I, and many others in the comments, have seen is that this review is skewed or not well prepared. Maybe both.
It is quite possible that his ear shape is just slightly different which can make the fit annoying. I have small ears and earbuds hurt after a while. Doesn't matter what brand I use.
So when you say, "save your money", what's your alternate? These are the only decent USB C headphones that I can see. They sound fine to me and fit surprisingly well. I'd say that if you need usb C headphones then get these, there is nothing else on the market. BTW they also worked fine with my chromebook which has both USB C and a 3.5mm
Honestly, from the shots you showed of the fit of them in your ears, it just looked like you needed to adjust the loops smaller. The loops were pushing them out of your ears instead of holding them in place.
Got these with my Pixel 3. Hard plastic earbuds aren't comfortable in my experience so the feel of these didn't surprise me. I notice that I don't really need to lodge them into my ear to get the intended sound out of them so that's a positive. The earbuds do decently with keeping music from bleeding out. However, while wearing them, I can easily hear conversations happening around me. This can be a good or bad thing. I suspect that for most, this is not a positive. As for sound quality, I tried the tracks "Trains" by Porcupine Tree, "Teardrop" by Massive Attack, and "Love Lockdown" by Kanye while keeping in mind that these are $30 earbuds. Nice mid frequency and dynamic contrast in "Trains" and the Acoustic guitar sounds full and clear. The bass holds up enough in "Teardrop" and there is nice fidelity coming through with the ambient sounds and snare hits. Nice and crispy. Also, the female voice sounds pure and present. "Love Lockdown" is a track that I use to test bass performance. These earbuds perform as expected - they lack the bass depth to support the frequencies present in the track (obviously). Kanye's voice is rich sounding though. The stage and atmosphere of the earbuds hold up during the percussion parts of the chorus and drum solo near the end. Overall, I am pleased with these. I like the volume rocker. I like the Google Assistant integration with my Pixel. The sound and comfort will be enough for a person who uses higher quality headphones when they are serious about sound quality and long term listening. These will serve well for me as office headphones for calling into remote meetings and doing light RU-vid and music listening.
These are so frustrating for me at least. They never stay in all the way so I always hear stuff from outside of them, no matter how high the volume is. Any movement to the cable causes them to loosen, and a slightly stronger movement pulls them right out. I got these for free with my pixel 3, and I got a different type about a week after. If you want to buy these, it's a hit or a miss.
Well I have tried both and they dont bother me at all, they seem pretty good to me and I wear a lot of headphones, and before you say you listening to them the right way, I have the LG V35 with a HiFi quad dac etc... And it's literally all about your ear and your hearing... That is all!
I really like mine. I have much nicer more expensive earbuds that of course sound nicer, but for everyday casual convenience I find myself reaching for these more often
You've made the loop much too big. It should be so small it is barely putting any pressure on your ear. That said, your discomfort seems not to be caused by that, sounds like they just don't suit your ears.
Wtf I couldn't disagree anymore if I wanted, just had mine delivered from the Google store today and used them for a 4 mile run, no issues, stayed put as I ran sounds great as I listen to Peter Gabriel's In your eyes and Biko! Love them and the Google Assistant function work great, less of a case "don't waste your money" more a case of "you won't waste your money"
Might want to change get your title these are solid wired earbuds. I ordered a pair as soon as they were released for my Pixel XL 2 and they work great.

I'm glad for your review, but probably have opposite opinions about these headphones. I appreciate the small size, gaps, and lack of isolation as that's less likely to cause long-term hearing damage, and it will allow me to hear if I'm out walking and someone yells "watch out!" right before a construction beam swings in my direction or something. 😂 I also really can't stand bass in my headphones as it gives me migraine headaches and again, is more likely to cause long-term hearing loss. As someone with tinnitus, I need to preserve my hearing as much as possible. So, I appreciate your review because it lets me know I don't have to worry about bass or noise isolation with these!

Disagree with your analysis in every possible way. They fit well, if they don't you have an option to adjust.. They sound good enough for their price and Google assistant is an add on. Not a fair analysis
I am not sure when or where you got yours, but I received a set of these with my Pixel 3. They fit tight in my ear, you need to adjust the loop and it will push them down deeper into your ear canal. When I have mine in, they block most of the ambient noise and I can hear my music very clearly. I listen to mainly EDM, house and trance. Most of my music relies completely on bass, and these are great. They may not have as much bass as an equivalent pair of Beats, but they have very good bass. My music is loud, and crisp with much bass, and when turned up loud, I have never had any crackling. I did purchase my Pixel 3 not long before the 4 was released, so maybe my headphones have some upgrades since the ones you were using. But I love them, even more than my high end Monster cordless...
I agree with the fit and sound. The quality was pretty decent but I'm going to return them because they won't go loud enough for my liking. If they fit closer in the ear I think the sound would be better but they sit too loosely.
A few months ago I bought the Xiaomi USB-C ANC earbuds, they were good but they broke and although they had warranty they didn't allow me to get any. Anyways, I bought these earbuds and to be honest they're not very good, I pretty much wasted money, but I think I'll buy the Razer hammerhead USB-C ANC earbuds, they're much more expensive but they're extremely similar to the ones I used to have + they have warranty.
I would have to disagree. I was pleasantly surprised with the technology, quality and sound. Price is pretty good as well (unless you get it free with the phone). Of course, if you compare it with other expensive headphones the sound wont be as good. Overall, Google assistant alone makes this worth it.
All the RU-vid reviews of this product like (with reservations) the ear phones. Can't beat the price, good bass response, don't crank 'em. BUT your review at least shows how to put the ON!! Thanks for that!
I like mine. They're a great pair to keep in my EDC pack just in case I need earbuds. They sound great and are easy to use around the house because it allows outside noise. They work great with my 2 XL. I just wish Google gave us these earbuds to begin with, not just a dongle. At least they redeemed themselves by including it with the Pixel 3/XL.
I got mine with the Pixel 3 XL and they are great. I don't buy headphones because I normally have any all headphones I try, but these are very comfortable. I still prefer to stream music over Bluetooth or using the built in Android auto in my car.
I'm seeing opposite reports. Some like this say they suck. Others say they are way above average and cheap. So I have to judge the source. I trust the verge more so I'm gonna say these are probably pretty nice
These are $30 erabuds. As far as $30 ear buds go. Go to any store and buy some. The audio quality of these are on par or even a little better. What makes these cool to me is the Google assistant integration. It's very good. And with the sound quality being solid and Google assistant intergration. There definitely worth the money. Come on guys, they only $30
Calvin L .. I'm starting to get a little hopeless with USB-C headphones. I really don't understand why more and more Android phones are losing the headphone jack. Apple did it for proprietary profits and at least they have made a decent alternative (Airpods) Android phones don't get any profits by losing the jack nor they have made a decent usb-c earphones or wireless. I guess I won't be upgrading this year.
Got this included on my Pixel 3. I actually like it. The adjust to fit your ears is quite nice. Now I can use it while I'm jogging and it doesn't fall off my ears, like the apple earpods. Google Assistant is also great.
I got better bass after watching this video :) Yes if you don't position them correctly you don't get the bass. What you can do is make the loop slightly bigger than what you'd think you need, and then angle the bud in the ear hole. The bigger - adjusted loop make the angled bud snug (more snug than I had it). I can get decent bass now - and the sound is "fuller" @ < 50% volume -- *shrug* YMMV. I also adjusted the EQ on RU-vid Music. I also tried the google podcast app. Voice frequency range is not as deep as the buds that go all the way in, but it is way better than what I experienced before.
If they fit exactly like the pixel buds then I'm fine with that. I've been using the pixel buds since February and the fit is perfect even tho it took some time getting used to. Excited to get these
I think they are very good earbuds, but the new type C bullets are coming out in a month or two, and those will most likely have equal some quality at 2/3rds the price.
I'm a bit late to this party but I agree with everything that is said in this review. Avoid these things. Difficult to wear for any length of time and poor sound quality due to being such a bad fit.

I have these and they are really good but, I didn't know how to use them so I pulled the wire off from behind it. And I flipped left and right; I put left in right and right in left ear; because it doesn't work once you take the cord off from behind the headphone

I've just got mine and l totally recommend them, I've worn them for a run no problem for cycling give them a shot, return them if you don't like being them, at the end of the day the only opinion that truly counts (apart from mine arguably) is your own...
I have recently brought it, except for warranty and Google assistant , I don't think it is worthy . I think I can get better sound quality in Panasonic hearphones .noise reduction is bad when we are commuting and definitely not for them. Well wearing it for an hour it starts aching the hear .. am using it with pixel 2 xl not a great combination . Well it does have glossy look which eventually will fade .

I used these for a long time, but I was dumb and put alot of pressure on the port and messed it up. I did have a second pair since my dad got the same phone, and I managed to lose them :/ I definitely recommend them tho
your comment is over a year old and I have no idea if you still need the answer to this but there's a little slit on the earbud the the cord slides into, which causes the loop and holds the buds in your ear.
Sir .. I got this few months back.. but the thing is volume buttons and pause/play buttons are working .. but the earbuds are not working.. what might be the reason. The music tracks can listen through mobile speaker?? 😒😒
Ok is anyone having trouble with the adapter headphone jack cause when I plug into mine I don't hear shit. And I tried it with another device and it worked it wasn't updated
They fit well for me, it also depends on how your ear us shaped. My ears are shaped uniquely so they fit me perfectly. They don't drop out randomly, and they sound great to me!
