That stock motor in the cyclone is a 20t if I remember right..You can also turn up the timing on the Gool rc motor for a bit more RPM..Those tires are to big to run that low of a turn motor..You will need to gear down or run the buggy wheels and tires

Traxxas runs 12T in everything including big monster truck tired stampedes. Its not easy to burn up a titan 12t, and used, they are about free at this point.

I had the 14 turn version of this Chinese motor. Its sold under a bunch of different names, on mine it was running really good for a few months before it locked up on me. The epoxy on the armature actually came off and got jammed between the magnet and armature lol. Also the windings are extremely sloppy and some are actually loosely wound! For a $15 motor its whatever if it fails, but there's other motors for $15 that are way more reliable.
@JC-11111

Just spend $10 more and get a Traxxas Titan 12T 550 for $25. Then you KNOW you're getting a decent motor and no aggravation from removing it to return it for warranty swaps, etc... It's Traxxas. So, you know it's going to work. And it's not going to be down on power like this Goolrc motor, for example. I've got one on the way for my wltoys 124019 buggy. Another guy swapped the Titan into his wltoys buggy and was easily running 45mph with a stock 2s battery so that did it for me. I ordered one the next day lol. It should be here this coming Wednesday, about 3 days from now. I've got the upgraded version of the buggy in the vid I watched to I expect at least similar, if not better results.

I went with the $25 Traxxas Titan 12T 550. It's been shown to do a min of 44mph in the WLToys buggies(144001, 124019, etc...) with stock 2s batteries. The fan has an internal cooling fan to try and help keep it cool but it still gets really warm with the stock 2s ESC in those buggies.

Looking at a goolrc brushed combo to upgrade my wltoys 12429. The combo has a 55t motor and a 60 amp ESC, so it should definitely be an upgrade over stock. I have a goolrc 4300kv 60a combo in my 12428 so I know they have decent brushless combos, but I'm building my 12429 as a beater crawler hence the decision to keep it brushed. For $16 shipped you can't beat a 1/10 waterproof brushed crawler combo

YUP, the Trinity modified motors were great back during the BRUSHED motor years. This one just looks very fast, but seems to only be a little faster than a stock can motor. Ofcourse the gearing could also be responsible for that. I had a speed Gems hand wound 8x2 motor, terrific.

I won't suggest using any motor below 20T with that esc, 21T is the bottom line of what it could handle. Anything under 20T can overheat your battery and fry the esc.

Like most chinese products these motors are below rated output. I have a few of these 13T and have taken them apart they are NOT 13 turns. The armatures are very cheap. You can get better armatures from ebay and mod these motors like I've done. These are good project motors.

hey man! Thank you for watching. I'd be very interested to see one of these modded, you don't happen to have a video of the, do you? I've run this motor in some RC's and you're right, it's not as fast as I expected. Although I didn't mess around with timing or break it in adequately.

i recent'y bought a arrma senton brushed 2s max my first, i have broke a few pinion gears and spurs, found out the dirt clog in the spur gear area is to blame for that so i cut a hole there and allowed dirt to escape. now i went from the stock 12t arrma motor to a titan 12t 550 it's a bit faster, not by much my local rc shop, i asked about brushless upgrade the dude behind the counter said 'i'd rather just sell you the senton blx 3s' so he isn't any help i understand the risk as far as gears. but i wanna go a bit faster lol went from the nihm to the 2s bat then motors. now i went from a 17t pinion to a 25 (they was out of 17t lol) i got a variety pack from 22-26t pinions and loving the speed now. would the goolrc and esc combo be a ok upgrade? i know it's 60amp so it would do up to a 3s and prolly have to buy some metal diff gears but any suggestions would be awesome! thanks love the vids and one day i will have a raminator or a infraction or both lol
@radiocontrolled9181
@radiocontrolled9181 3 года назад
That's a BIG jump from 17T to 25T pinion! (too big - usually the increase in pinion is by 2 or 3 teeth). That throws a lot of extra work on the motor, thus increasing by a lot the electric current that flows in the circuits (and battery) and produces much more heat as well. Run time will decrease substantially. You have to find a balance between what is mechanically and electrically reasonable and good speed. Don't try to get ever faster, as at some point something will break or fry, it is inevitable. A good setup will have a good run time and enough speed to have good fun. Faster is not always more fun. Fast and reliable is fun. Very fast but unreliable is not. About the dirt thing, no dirt should go in the spur gear area. Instead of drilling another hole, you should find a way to stop dirt from going in there in the first place. That should be a clean area. Dirt causes the gears to wear out prematurely and eventually fail. I hope this hepls ... Cheers!

Dude my wltoy a979b brushed 540 motor doesn't work. Yesterday I played it but now it doesn't work but the esc is working. Tried to connect the battery directly to the motor still not working I tested 2 Lipo already. Advice bro..thanks!
@hybrid32494
@hybrid32494 5 лет назад
you mean your stock motor right? Sounds like there is a connectivity or continuity issue. If you have a voltmeter, test for resistance of the motor, there should be some resistance between the negative and positive terminal. IF there is none, you have a motor problem where chances are the brushes have worn down inside or a break in a winding. You can just get another spare. If you have any other brushed motor connect it to the esc to see if that works in the first place. let me know. good luck.!!

@@hybrid32494 oopss don't have a voltmeter but I'll try to check on local repairman. I don't have spare motor its my first rc:) if can't be salvage or repair any advice which is suitable motor for it that your tested already?
@hybrid32494
@hybrid32494 5 лет назад
unfortunately the stock motors on there are sealed, and cannot be repairs usually. You can just buy the same motor if you want or a GOOD RC brushed motor that is a 540 size. the main this is the motor can size, because your motor mount will only accept 540 size motors (these are pretty standard sizes). Check my channel for a cheap GOOL RC brushed motor review I did.

Yes you can just get any cheap brushed 540 size motor, don't really matter. You'll probably have to solder the connectors on too. I have a 13 turn GoolRC, it's not bad. Not as fast as I expected honestly. You can go with 13 or 15 turn, those are pretty common.

@hybrid32494
@hybrid32494 5 лет назад
hello, Yes. Usually the brushed motors gain about 2-3 extra MPH after about a hour of runtime. The motor looks fast due to it's nice open end bell design and rebuildable brushes but it's still only a 13T motor. You really need a 10T and under for high speed.
@druscanam
@druscanam 5 лет назад
hybrid32494 Yes, 8T brushed 540 would be faster on 2S but you can also run the 13T on 3S once it's run it for shot amounts of time.
@druscanam
@druscanam 5 лет назад
Also you can adjust the timing on those motors too, stock they are 50-50 so figure out the rotating for your car when moving forward and adjust accordingly.

@hybrid32494
@hybrid32494 5 лет назад
Yes, the larger motors definitely have more torque. You can also get a smaller motor pinion to lower your final drive ratio. You will have more torque and less speed with a smaller pinion. Depends which way you want to go, and is cheaper.
