@Adam Jacobs Lmao what does any of that have to do with this? i've seen Robert and .Paak and they were fucking electric, great shows, but these were also electric and totally killer shows.
Trey is really pushing Goose in these jams. That first peak during the composed section of the song around 7 minutes in is so damn good. Trey takes the lead and in my head sounds exactly what a Phish bliss peak would sound like with a rhythm guitar
he's playing with guys that have that energy again. Not several kids, and obligations, these guys still dont know theyre ceiling like phish in 90s and didnt feel like they had one for me in audience lol. So technical and so sloppy on purpose for tension at same time bluegrass, blues, jazz, rock, reggae goose soaked it up and went to sources too you can tell roots reggae lee scratch, steely dan. This is his fountain of youth. They all have chops he just knows all these beautiful ways to take these journeys. Sounds incredible
His experience and listening chops are second to none among his modulations. What a fucking legend. A musician, not a guitarist. Hope he’s on stage at 82 like Phil. Some of that patience is rubbing off on the Goose. And this is all because Trey beat his deamons. God I hope I can do the same
Rhythm section (as good as they are for what Goose does) totally failed on the transition to funk. Just kept playing straight, never messed with the rhythm or divided up the beat into anything remotely interesting.
There was no time for messing around here. They got going quickly and there was great stepping up/ soloing and great listening by the goose and the red man.
Saw Phish open for Santana at the Mann. I was perturbed that we had to sit through some 'unknown' opening act. We were blown away by Phish and left 5 songs into the Santana set, but in my defense, my wife was 7 months pregnant.
I don't like the phrase "Passing the torch", because it implies one person losing something for another person's gain. This is one torch being used to help light another. It is an additive experience.
if you are inclined check out 4/5.98 cavern by phish its famous from the island tour and I was at it at 15:00 trey is playin very simiar funk chords to that intro to cavern it was instant nostalia and so freaking good agree 100% peters face too lol like oh man this too much fun filthy funk ... those moments though cavern into in 98 and here at that 15:00 mark you reference its wonderful. Crazy forme have similar feeluing and heavy nostalgia 25 years later kudos to men on stage in both instances :) cheers bud
This is unbelievable, almost. Im really happy for Goose. I never thought a band would come along anytime soon and be able to play on this level. Trey the Jedi, is passing the torch to his new padawan. Music at this calibre will open your eyes to God♥️✝️
Really cool jam. I’m amazed at how locked in Trey and Rick were. A true musical conversation. And Goose as a band are fantastically tight. So thankful that I get to witness this incredible moment in music.
Unbelievable. Experienced first time Phish in !998 in Copenhagen, Europe. In my wildests dreams i wouldn't imagine that 26 years later, jam psycho dance music would evolve so much and that Trey would be somehow still part of its peak. Rick is an elf
Ben’s also an incredible drummer. If anything I think he’s a bit more intricate that cotter but cotter is a better fit for the sound. Either way they’re both great and are a monumental part of this band we know and love.
hes like trey music , as compliment, nerd hes all positive id bet anything musically rick and trey like PB and chocoalte but backstage id pay for behind the scenes he and trey are in conversations only the two would enjoy and find humor in lol. Kindered spirits for sure its another awesome thing about this tour. Phish as Col Bruce Hampton Dere trucks WSP phish mentor used to refer to band as "well intentioned" meaning they are doing for the art not the fame and thats why Trey loves goose so much. To do bakers dozen at msg no repeats, Fare the well learned 100 new dead tunes in month, TAB, oyterhead, some devil album with Dave mathews , countless Derek Trucks or TTB even albums, now Goose hes really into these songs hes invested and cheerleader but what a musical vocabulary no wonder such a space shot no room left in brain lol just meolody and harmony and voicings
@@lonestarstatechris im sure phish are merry pranktsers they have made audience ooh and awe but also but end of jokes.... great scene in bittersweet motel where trey has roady chop allband members heads out of fan photos back then they wouldn;t know nothing was digital ....merry pranktsters for sure bittersweet motel is one of great docs of phish . Trey is alittle embarressed by it he was partying 97 europe tour. when trey after reading bad review saying they urinate listeners ears and listeners will love it. He thought wow what a great job I have lol....or the arnold pumping iron analogy poor page is trying to make iterview tasteful lol...
Amazing! Is Rick playing a Paul Languedoc Custom Guitar? This shit gives me so much hope for the fire to keep on burning, and for so very long! Excellent videos, Incredible Music, and a big F#^&#ing Smile! Thanks, this made my night .
@@CLaneShoe Thanks sir! Ya, after a closer look I figured it out. Guess it was just wishful thinking on my part! I'm a Sucker for a good story (like this wasn't good enough already!)
agreed so rare to have guitar interplay to that extent on clavinet or any funky organ it was hard initially because trey can create any tone on that rig and hes originally a drummer so hes always blended so well with rhytm section especially in funk mode im repeating myself but it reminds me of one of my favorite ever live phish moments at island tour in 98 when they did funky cavern intro for encore 4/5/98 give that intro a listen and 15 minute markwhere pete lights up its so cool somuch nostalgia and thats huge compliment to remind me of a favorite funky phish moment:) cheers
Trey is late. We ve been Into Goose for like a year and half. By the way I saw Phish at Reds in 93 or 94 I believe. When the bus started goi g up the red rocks dirt road, Trey waved to me from the front of the bus
100 % check phish famous funky island tour encore 4/5/98 cavern its eery so similar and freaking good. They are hooked up...I was at show btw when treyy told people to leave if they didnlt want to get down to the funk :)
