This one is a personal favorite of mine, it wasn’t initially a favorite but the more I think of it I really enjoy it. When Stine is able to deliver an airtight story, it’s always fun. This one is a perfect example of it. I enjoyed that the book had multiple suspects, while albeit the obvious suspects turn out to be the culprit(s) it kept it open ended. Unlike another mystery focused book like Werewolf Of Fever Swamp. I think that book is better than this, but it holds its own. I think this book is a great gateway book into the Goosebumps series overall, specifically for the younger readers. If we are comparing his to Phantom Of The Megaplex, that story utilizes its setting more making it more bonkers and creative. The writing in that movie isn’t honed in on the mystery like this book had, and didn’t have strong characters like Auditorium, but Megaplex stands in its own right. My only negative issue with this book altogether would be how predictable it is (especially if you know to look through hints and clues and let your imagination predict things while reading). Great review Michael, god bless you and have a happy new year!
If you like this, you should check-out the musical Goosebumps, it’s this book adapted to a stage version. And to be honest, I believe with the fact that the characters believing in a curse was based on the superstitions and traditions surrounding the play The Tragedy Of Macbeth (also known as The Scottish Play). Also the same actress who plays Tina in the episode also plays Terri in Phantom Of The Megaplex. And lastly with a character being named Esmeralda I think that it’s a possible reference to another Lon Chaney Senior movie called The Hunchback Of Norte Dame and could possibly be a nod to the link to Lon Chaney’s version of Phantom.
Spongey also mentioned something about a recorded stage play for this book, so I’m super curious to check that out! I’m assuming it’s online, right? That’s some awesome info., dude. Thank you for letting me know about that stuff. Can’t wait to watch the episode for this, and review it lol. Probably going to try and get to it this week. And I think you’re probably right over those references you mentioned. Thank you for watching, and have a happy new year! God bless you!
I’m glad a fan of the opera can let me know what they think of this one hahah. Very interesting perspective to have, when it comes to this one. Thanks for watching, buddy! God bless you, and happy new year!
I really like this one. Brooke is really likable and I like her and Zeke’s friendship. Also like the mystery going on. Also this is one of the very few Goosebumps books where the protagonist has feelings for someone else. The twist was predictable but overall, very good Goosebumps book.
I just read “Phantom of the Auditorium”. I really liked & enjoyed this book. I thought the back story of the Phantom play was really cool & clever, I wanted to read more about it. The book had plenty of twists & turns that kept me on my toes, including the ending, which I thought was satisfying. It wasn’t too scary, but it still gave me goosebumps. Anyway, thanks for another great review brotha! 📚🫶🏼
Just finished this one pretty good not going to lie. Not a scary one really but, good character development. Has a good tone of adventure in the story. It's better than Scarecrow walks at midnight, which was the last goosebumps book i read. Good vids man 👍
Omg finally lol!!!! So glad you finally got to this book. This is easily one of my top 20 to 15 favorite Og Goosebumps Books in the series. I can also stop bugging you about it too lol. God bless man and have a Happy New Year!
Hahahah! I knew you’d appreciate it, when you saw it in the background of my other video, from the other channel! 😂 I’m glad you liked the review, and the book, man! God bless you, and have a happy new year!
After the episode reviews, you could review Stay Out of the Basement, a Hall of Horror book or a Give Yourself Goosebumps called Deep in the Jungle of Doom.
Congratulations on 2k man well deserved I actually really liked this book aswell I mostly remember the ending of all things it surprised me to lol happy new year !
I’m surprised we were able to hit 2,000 before the new year! Almost at the three-year anniversary of the channel, too (February)! Thanks for watching, dude! Have a happy new year, and God bless you!
I liked this one back in the day but I wasn't in love. In recent years I've grow to appreciate it more. It's a fun coozy mystery that is a solid homage. It's climbed up in popularity (earlier reviews seemed to be more mid range) and it is a fun one. I like the mystery, the characters are likable and it works as a solid one. It's just charming. My only problem is that Emile felt too sympathetic and the final twist felt forced but it was at least foreshadowed even if that made it predictable. Fun fact, one of the actors from Phantom of the Megaplex was in the TV episode of this. Yes, really. It even has a few other Goosebumps actors lol. The episode is a fun one, it captures the feel well and is actually a good adaptation. And there's a musical adaptation of this story, no joke. Stine even has an appearance in the cast recording, it's worth a listen. So yeah, it's a solid fun one. I also like Megaplex more lol. This is your 50th of 62 video, very close to the end!
I agree, Megaplex has a superior location. Transplant the writing of Auditorium to the setting of the Megaplex and using the location to enhance the story and you have a perfect blend of the two!
Finally, someone else loves Megaplex more! Lol! This is a solid read, for sure. I was actually surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Had no interest in reading this one. I can definitely see why other people recommended it so much, even if they like it more than I do. And dude! I can’t believe I’m almost done with the classics! And we’re almost at the third anniversary of the channel! Thanks for watching! God bless you, and have a happy new year!
This book is really good and it’s really my favorite memories of my middle school years just reading to now and I really enjoy it a lot. Happy new year everyone the artwork cover I really appreciate it a lot.
Happy new year! All the best to you! The Phantom of the Auditorium always seemd like an interesting one to me but I never really finished it... I'm glad you liked it! I just have a little question: As I am currently reading Revenge of the Living Dummy, I was kind of curious of what do you think about the book not being a direct seaquel to the Night of the Living Dummy... I really have mixed feelings about that lol
Great video, Michael. Sorry that I haven't commented lately... my family and I haven't been well lately. Happy new year, dude. And heers to the new Goosebumps tv series. If it ever comes out?! 😁👍🎆❤🎉
Hi there! I’m sorry to hear about you guys. I hope and pray everything is okay! I’m still not holding my breath on that show getting made 😂 Thank you for watching, and God bless you! Have a happy new year!
@@MichaelGoosebumpsFan Thank you. And I know what you mean. For at this point us the fan base would do a better job... also, I have written and sent away a Goosebumps prequel novel book called "Stine's beginning" from last summer and I was wondering if I should upload it to my Channel once I am feeling more like myself? Do you think you'd be interested? 🤔👍👍❤
Love the episode and love the book. Not sure why a kid would come back from the dead to just perform in a shitty school play but I guess it is what it is haha
I hear that all the time! Can’t wait to get around to it, because I’ve even seen it mentioned in a ton of Goosebumps books I’ve read that reference other ones lol
